Question asked by Melvin
Dear Rinpoche,
I have heard in one of your teachings that doubt is like a thief, it steals all of your attainments. My question is how does one deal with doubt? As one continues one's own practice, one should see gradual improvement, but if over the years one doesn't see improvement, one can doubt one's own abilities or the practice itself at times. (Which can be a form of laziness). In any case, how does one overcome doubt when it comes to the Dharma? Any advice?
Dear Melvin,
Two ways in this. One is the collection of merit and the other is further study/investigation.
1. You should engage in the practice of the four preliminaries especially associated with purification. Also take Manjushri as a Yidam and do His practice diligently engaging in retreats.
2. Study more dharma. Real thorough study. When you have knowledge, this knowledge answers many questions.
Try the above….and good luck. TR
