Dear Pastors,
ive got a friends father. who is a devout practitioner of meditation, not related to any religion but just solely meditation.
he could do it for long and he could do it frequently few years back.
as i know meditation is suppose to be good for the mind right? as in strengthening the mind.
but recently he was diagnosed with mind degeneration and tyranny sort of abnormal behavior. how is it possible? it seems that he, who engage in meditation are more prone to mind disease. it is appropriate to assume meditation only helps spiritually but not physically?
From the information given, it is not possible to gauge the level of practice of your friend’s father. Since you said that it’s not related to religion, I guess it must have been the type of meditation to relieve stress and for relaxation. In Buddhism, we believe in karma. Everything arises as a result of causes and conditions created in this life or in previous lives. There are practices that can help to prevent or reduce the suffering of illness, but one has to practise under a spiritual guide.
