Question asked by Eli Levine
Good evening Pastors,
I was wondering if it is possible for someone to be a lay-tantric practitioner (as Yuthok Yontan Gonpo the Younger)? I read somewhere about some bodhisattvas being able to become Enlightened or at least be able practitioners without having many interactions with Lamas. Is this accurate?
I will confess that one of my greater challenges as a person is to remain as humble as possible. I don't know how to express my problem without sounding crass and prideful, but I know I have accomplished much in terms of my personal spiritual growth and development without a formal guru to take shelter in. This is not to say that I have not had a lot of help along the way in forms that I haven't been able to conceive and from people all throughout my lifetime here. I suppose I'm just feeling exhausted bearing the knowledge and awareness that I may be at least a kind of bodhisattva while having to completely deny, counter-act, and shoot down those thoughts and feelings for the sake of preserving my own self at the very least and all others at the very most. I honestly wish I could meet with all of you in person or chat with some of you in person or online. I know that we are who we make ourselves out to be. I just have a sinking sensation that I'm making myself out to be more that I am, even though I want deeply to be all that I can be (and I know that that's substantial as a human being).
Hopefully we can talk more?
With all respect and admiration.
Through Rinpoche’s sponsorship at Gaden Sharte Monastery many monks had benefited. Rejoice to them receiving the initiation .Sponsoring the Dharma, which refers to supporting the teachings and practices of Buddhism, is considered a meritorious act in Buddhism. Acts of generosity and support for the Dharma are believed to generate positive karma, leading to positive consequences in this life and future lives.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing and explaining it.
