Question asked by Darren
dear pastors,
I want to officially start learning dharma from a teacher. For the past couple of years, I have been learning from books, by authors such as Thich Nhat Hanh and Alan Watts. Although I have learned quite a bit from these books, I know that the student-teacher relationship is essential to learning dharma. I did some research and found two centers in my area. The first one is from Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's Shambhala tradition, which I really don't know too much about. The second center is from the Karma Kagyu tradition. I'm not sure which center would be best for me. To be honest, I was hoping to find a Gelug Buddhist center, so I could learn from the same lineage as Tsem Tulku Rinpoche. How do I know which center is best for me?
Looking for a spiritual path, a centre and teacher are relevant questions of concern. Do read this book by Tsem Rinpoche who addresses these questions and more. http://vajrasecrets.com/books/english-books/gurus-for-hire-enlightenment-for-sale.html
In the meantime, do continue to read the teachings from this blog site as well as watch teaching videos from youtube.com/tsemtulku The more you learn, things may become clearer for you. Do watch teachings on Setrap practice to clear obstacles for you to meet your lama and to have a dharma centre you can be involved in.
