Question asked by Parth
Why exactly is there a need to post the practice of Miyo Lozangma? As she is a worldly protectoress much like the Tenma and Nechung, why then would one practice her? Especially lay people as posted here on the website? Isn't there a risk that they may misuse this reserved practice and it may actually do more harm than good, especially as this is a reserved practice? What cycle does this cycle come from of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo? Where does Dorje Gegkyi's come from?
Also, why does Rinpoche propagate spirits and all these delusional superstitions of UFOs, Big Foot, yetis, etc.? Are they not simply the mind's delusions and one should not be getting people involved with more delusions and they should be focusing on the enlightened path rather than going more into mundanity? Seeing how the Eye Practice Rinpoche gives hasn't cured his eyes, I don't see how this is credible.
Dear Parth,
1. The reason that Tsem Rinpoche shared the history of and information about unenlightened Dharma protector practices is because there are people out there who have affinity with them from previous lifetimes and may be interested in their practice. Rinpoche did not share the entire practice, just a very very small portion. With what Rinpoche has shared, no one can “misuse” the practice. Unenlightened Dharma protectors are still beneficial, it is just that they do not grant the same benefits as Enlightened Dharma protectors. To deride them is actually wrong. Many of the greatest masters of the past have proscribed the practice of such Dharma protectors.
2. Tsem Rinpoche has never propagated spirits. In the case of the unenlightened Dharma Protectors, they have sworn to aid practitioners and their practices have been deemed beneficial by countless enlightened masters of the past, hence they are known as Dharma Protectors.
3. In regards to aliens, UFO’s, Big Foot, etc. These are not delusions of the mind. A core belief in Buddhism is rebirth, and therefore the Six Realms of existence. These beings also belong to these realms and not figments of delusion. By sharing these sorts of stories, Tsem Rinpoche wanted to open people’s minds so they are not limited to simply what they can see. If you are Buddhist, you cannot see the other Realms, but you know that they exist, because they are tied with the law of karma. Even other religions such as Hinduism even believe in such realms of existence. So to call them figments of delusion is not correct from a Buddhist perspective. In order to reach enlightenment, you must develop compassion. And in order to develop compassion you must have an open mind that knows about and comprehends multiple levels of existence and the suffering that all beings face.
4. If you do not believe in the curative ability of the Eye-Opening Chenrezig practice, that is entire your choice. But please remember, eye problems are not limited to wearing glasses. Rinpoche did not consider wearing glasses a problem. The practice also helps people with other eye conditions, of which there are many. This is a testament to the practice’s efficacy not just in this day an age, but also in the past. Many masters have practiced this and had results. Curing physical eye problems is just one small benefit, because the practice is not just about eye problems it is also about “Opening the Eye” which also means the ability to see things from other people’s perspective and see things in a light that you normal would not have, including developing compassion.
Though I have answered your comment, from the way it was written does seem to be quite negative.
