Blog Chat Etiquette

These are some simple guidelines to make the blog chat room a positive, enjoyable and enlightening experience for everyone. Please note that as this is a chat room, we chat! Do not flood the chat room, or post without interacting with others.

EXPAND
Be friendly

Remember that these are real people you are chatting with. They may have different opinions to you and come from different cultures. Treat them as you would face to face, and respect their opinions, and they will treat you the same.

Be Patient

Give the room a chance to answer you. Patience is a virtue. And if after awhile, people don't respond, perhaps they don't know the answer or they did not see your question. Do ask again or address someone directly. Do not be offended if people do not or are unable to respond to you.

Be Relevant

This is the blog of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. Please respect this space. We request that all participants here are respectful of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and his organisation, Kechara.

Be polite

Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others. If someone is disrespectful to you, ignore them instead of arguing with them.

Please be advised that anyone who contravenes these guidelines may be banned from the chatroom. Banning is at the complete discretion of the administrator of this blog. Should anyone wish to make an appeal or complaint about the behaviour of someone in the chatroom, please copy paste the relevant chat in an email to us at [email protected] and state the date and time of the respective conversation.

Please let this be a conducive space for discussions, both light and profound.

The amount of suffering, fear and pain they have to experience should be experienced by no one whether animal or human. It is heartbreaking to continuously see the sufferings animals endure for our ‘pleasures’. I do feel helpless, but helpless or not, we must create more awareness tirelessly. With awareness, their suffering can eventually be reduced. The ones who are slaughtered, it’s too late. We can only shed tears but we have to still be concerned about future slaughter of animals and try to prevent. Helping and being kind to animals is not spiritual, strange or unnatural, but pure empathy of understanding their pain in that no sentient beings would want to suffer. Tsem Rinpoche

Thank you Rinpoche for the explanation on Naga realms; i.e. who they are, in what form they exist, how do we co-exist with them in the same space, and the remedy should we, due to our carelessness, have caused harm or pain on them and now suffering the consequences. Naga dwells in areas where there is abundance of water, they are protective towards the flora and fauna that enrich their surroundings, and they are very particular about cleanliness and vegetarianism. Now that we understand the habit of Naga, and since we share the same dwelling with them, it is only polite to extend the respect and mindfulness that they deserve as another sentient being. Thank you Rinpoche for this teaching.

It is indeed sad that religious tolerance is believed to be at its lowest level worldwide. A small incidence can spark violence and sometimes resulting in death. I find it very hard to understand why some religious denomination uses emotive actions rather than an analytical approach in solving matters. This has been their ways all along perhaps it is time their religious leaders relook in their approach to have a more open frame of mind when their religion is being attack and not resorting in unnecessary violence.
Perhaps somewhere along the teachings by their leaders who could have been instigated by the fanatical fundamentalist inculcated different ideology into them believing that by going to war, destroying places of worship would earn them high reward in the afterlife?
I pray and hope that their higher religious authorities would seriously take an in-depth look on the pain they have inflicted on innocent people, destroying of historical sites, temples as these acts would only breed hatred and bring disdain among their people.

After reading the article, feel sad for those people due the unrest there they suffered.Racial tension in the USA have been going on since a long time.It doesn’t stopped from one incident to another.Increase in recent mass shootings in public places had cause travel alerts for countries like USA ,UAE and Bahamas to mention a few.The authority should ensuring the safety and security of their people to enjoy the true freedom regardless of race, colour and so forth.Same goes to religion,we must be able to be given religion freedom. With the Dorje Shugden ban for example…it had cause many sufferings in certain countries.Do hope the ban will be lifted soon.
    Thanks Rinpoche for sharing .

Happy to see this discover as it gives us another record to show that we are not alone. To me, it is very interesting to see that evidence of the existence of aliens/ extra-terrestrial beings seemed to be pointing at a certain clue, where most, if not all of the aliens/ extra-terrestrial beings have one head, two arms and two legs. I am sure it is not a coincidence in any way. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article.

It is heartwrenching to see the pictures. Why would they treat the animals in this manner? If they cannot afford or don’t want to take care of the bear, they can pass them to the right authority.

It is more upsetting when this abused are done in a temple, a holy place. Agree with Rinpoche that it is people’s doing and not the place. We cannot generalise Buddhist are cruel but only selected people. I hope the bears that have been rescued can now life happily and freely.

Thank you Rinpoche for this highlight on Nagas, I would like to share some experiences on this. Many years ago I was following a guru, she use to come to Malaysia very often and during one of her many visit the guru decided to purchase a piece of uncultivated land on top of a hill in the west coast of Penang.
She wanted to turn this land into a meditation center, we were informed to help clear this land and we constantly travelled to Penang almost every weekend to complete the assigned task. We did not do any prayers before clearing the land to appease the unseen spirits residing within that environment because we do not have any ideas on how to go about it. What was taught to us is just meditation however many things happened. On one occasion I was stung by a bee right below my eyelid when clearing the land, trees were felled without supervision, there was constant disagreement and anger thrown at each other. There was frequent cars breakdown without reason, on one occasion while travelling back from Penang after our duties while in the car I had a very heated argument with a fellow truth seeker whom I was very close with and it happened over some very trivial matter. Our friendship ended that day and neither of us try to resolve the matter or mend the friendship.
My relationship with my girlfriend turned sour and finally dissolved because of my constant travelling to the land, not long after that one of the the member passed away, another member’s death followed not long after that and it shocked us because this guy is young and very healthy as he works in a construction site. Very spooky and unbelievable to say the least but I believe that nagas, spirits and entities are found in these places and respect need to be accorded when visiting their domain.

Very interesting article,,,I do enjoyed reading it.All about this diplomat monk name Agvan Dorjiev his life story and how he was part of an important diplomatic role in developing and strengthening the relationship between Russia and Tibet.Even though religion and politics do not mix yet with his help he managed to contribute to the monasteries in Lhasa and Tashi Lunpo in Shigatse, and establish Buddhism there. With the support of many powerful personalities he even build a Buddhist temple in the Russian capital, despite the odds and difficulties. His tireless effort to preserve Buddhism in Russia , he was arrested a couple of times. That’s great…..he suffered for the people to make it possible.

First and foremost, I personally do not condone act of violence. And we should not. Even though in the course of history, it is not uncommon for people to take justice into their own hands especially when they do not see any better alternatives than their known way. Strangely, human’s sense of justice is selective and twisted. On one end, we have angry villagers here acting out on animals kidnappers in the most violent mob act seen in recent times; on the other end, we have a whole town that celebrates the killing and manslaughter of dogs while they shunned away people who tried to save the dogs in a vehement manner. I certainly hope the brutality faced by these 2 evildoers can serve as a wake up call to the butcher in Yulin.

Thank you very much Rinpoche for this article.

Very simple and easy to make syrup. I also like natural remedies as any additional process will mean unnatural ingredients to be added. Sometimes, we just need to go back to basic and simple method.

Thank you Pastor Niral for your sharing.

Below are the points that I have learned:

    1. Puja can help us to clear obstacles and provide protection.

    2. Puja can purify the negative karma causing a particular circumstance. For example if we are sick and engage in puja. It can help us to recover fast or recover completely. Puja will help make the circumstance be better.

    3. By engaging puja it can help us to gain merits.

    4. However, puja can only benefit us in short term. Ultimately we have to purify by transforming ourselves.

    5. When we do the task instructed by Dorje Shugden, it will create a close relationship with him. When our negative karma is cleared and generate more merits, it is even easier for Dorje Shugden to help us.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Never forget to do our Vajra Yogini practice. We can lose our money, we can lose our friends, we can lose our position, we can lose our family, we can lose our wife, we can lose our husband and we can lose our materialistic possession because in the end we will lose all outer objects anyway, but NEVER lose our Vajra Yogini practice. Everything lost is meant to be lost because we are in samsara and whatever we enjoy in samsara will not last and will be lost. It is their nature. Never waste time, energy and keep procrastinating, but do our Vajra Yogini practice intensely and strongly and be firm. Samsara never grants permanence and happiness, but Vajra Yogini\'s practice will hand the universe and all the joys within it to you.-Tsem Rinpoche

All beings have feelings and do not want pain, to be hurt or harmed. Therefore we must respect this and not harm animals. See this video how this man has made good friends with a special fish who comes when he rings for the fish. Touching. Tsem Rinpoche

HH the Dalai Lama prays with HH Trijang Rinpoche and HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. Such a beautiful video of His Holiness Dalai Lama, His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and His Holiness Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche (Very exalted high Nyingma lama) are all praying together. In the background you see a young Kyabje Lati Rinpoche too. So beautiful. This is how it was before the ban. All the sects and high lamas were superbly harmonious. After the Dorje Shugden ban things changed for the worse. May the ban be released soon. Tsem Rinpoche
