Blog Chat Etiquette

These are some simple guidelines to make the blog chat room a positive, enjoyable and enlightening experience for everyone. Please note that as this is a chat room, we chat! Do not flood the chat room, or post without interacting with others.

Be friendly

Remember that these are real people you are chatting with. They may have different opinions to you and come from different cultures. Treat them as you would face to face, and respect their opinions, and they will treat you the same.

Be Patient

Give the room a chance to answer you. Patience is a virtue. And if after awhile, people don't respond, perhaps they don't know the answer or they did not see your question. Do ask again or address someone directly. Do not be offended if people do not or are unable to respond to you.

Be Relevant

This is the blog of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. Please respect this space. We request that all participants here are respectful of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and his organisation, Kechara.

Be polite

Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others. If someone is disrespectful to you, ignore them instead of arguing with them.

Please be advised that anyone who contravenes these guidelines may be banned from the chatroom. Banning is at the complete discretion of the administrator of this blog. Should anyone wish to make an appeal or complaint about the behaviour of someone in the chatroom, please copy paste the relevant chat in an email to us at care@kechara.com and state the date and time of the respective conversation.

Please let this be a conducive space for discussions, both light and profound.

We don’t have to think too much, because eating meat for sure hurts sentient beings in one way or another. It doesn’t stop suffering of samsara when we give up meat, but it sure is the right step in controlling our mind towards our attachments which is the right direction in stopping the suffering within the inner world within us. After all samsara exists within us. So giving up meat is another attachment we can work towards that has immediate benefits. Tsem Rinpoche

I had a very good Chinese holistic doctor stay with me for a year or so. He came out with recipes he had learned from his home village for healing that are VERY HEALTHY and easy to make. He healed my migraines with acupuncture and his medicines. He was very good. I wanted to share his recipes. Please take a look. He returned back to China to practice medicine. These food are not only delicious but highly nutritious. I had these recipes and videos made so many may share the benefits. Please see here and share with others: http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/animals-vegetarianism/dr-jiangs-delicious-healthy-recipesvideos.html

Did you know that the Buddha slept only one hour a day? His daily routine was such that during the last watch of the night, at 3 am to 4 am, He would sleep mindfully, lying on the right side. The only other time He was able to take a rest was during the afternoon session. After the noon meal, he would give a short Dharma talk and give instructions on meditation to some disciples. Usually, after this, the Blessed One would retire to his private chamber and rest. If He so desired, He would lie on His right side and slept for a while with mindfulness. There is so much to learn about the Buddha’s life and teachings. His life was itself an example of His teachings, a quality mentioned in the “Four Ways of Gathering Disciples”.

Last time in Delhi you can find very nice Pabongka Rinpoche statues around 12 inches in height. Unfortunately I could not afford it at the time so I just admired it returned back to Gaden. When I did finally have a little money and was in Delhi again, I wanted to purchase, but they sold out and did not make anymore to my dismay. I was very disappointed. I have been looking for nice Pabongka Rinpoche statues ever since. A Pabongka Rinpoche, Trijang Rinpoche and Zong Rinpoche statue set (all same sizes) for the shrine would be nice. The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

This is one of the best Avalokitesvara thangkas I have ever seen. I rarely see an Avalokitesvara that draws me or I really like. I am very particular about thangka paintings. But this one is really done by a super skilled artist. The eyes are perfect and the gaze is the correct angle of calm/contemplativeness. The lips, nose and proportions are stunning. The coloring and feel is regality and serenity with great compassion. He feels alive. I would love to get a copy of this very much. Tsem Rinpoche

The Girl Who Couldn't Cry - Water is Life
It's really hard to educate a generation of people born in conditions where they take things for granted. A simple slogan campaign that says, "Save water, It's precious" isn't sticky enough to make inroads. That's exactly where this video steps in: to make people realize how precious water actually is. A brilliant video that follows the heartbreaking story of a young girl that cannot cry. Sounds like fiction? Sadly, it is not.

Making initial progress by gaining trust from Uncle Chan so that we can send him to the hospital to seek treatment to address his eyesight problem... Uncle Chan stays in this taxi of his, refusing to leave it unattended at night to fend off people from further stealing the car parts. We are working on ways to help locate his lost family members and help him to stay in a shelter instead of this taxi. Justin@KSK

~Twenty-Seven Verses On Mind Training~ (Composed by Lama Je Tsongkhapa ~1357-1419 ) http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/tsongkhapa-prayers.html #15 The mind that faithfully and tirelessly serves and elevates conscious beings is sheer goodness, constantly giving the gift of itself, its faith in ever-expanding goodness, to all other minds thereby benefiting them in the most direct way. Of all possible forms of benefit on any level, the highest is to teach this practice of love, this indomitable faith in universal goodness, by the direct transmission of selfless awareness flowing transparently from mind to mind in accordance with the need and capacity of each mind. This is true teaching, tangibly transmitting the living energy of universal goodness, which becomes perpetually active in the recipient, even during the most pressing times of crisis, never evaporating into mere words or concepts.
