Coral Castle

The photo above is of a man who created a stone structure that still puzzles architects, engineers and scientists today! Named Coral Castle, it was built by Edward Leedskalnin – a 5ft, 100lb immigrant from Latvia..who moved to Florida, USA in the 1920s.

Edward dropped out of school in the 4th grade and was not seen to be a very intelligent person…some people even thought that he was crazy! When he arrived in Florida, he would walk around poking at the soil, saying that he wanted good land but when farmers gave him real prime farming land, he would reject it.

You can see in the videos below that he knew what he was looking for – he knew what type of land he wanted and what type of material he was going to use to build his castle. He used blocks of limestone that were formed from coral. What is really amazing, and still puzzling to people today, is how precisely he could cut these stones…and how he could lift them up when they weighed several tonnes!!

Whenever people asked him, he’d just smile and say that he knew the ‘secret’. This secret is the same one that was apparently known to those who built the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge in England. To move these incredibly heavy objects, they would manipulate the magnetic properties of the objects…so that they would REPEL the Earth’s magnetic field and thereby lift off the ground.

There are 2 sets of videos below, both are the same but they come from different angles of documentary. I thought that I’d share them both with you..It is very, very interesting and it will make you think outside the box a little hehe

Dear Rinpoche, we would be able to learn more about how did Edward Leedskalnin move these heavy corals if he wasn’t so selfish (I don’t think I’m using the correct word) right? And I don’t understand how did he even manage to make something that we can’t even calculate it with physics.

  2. Edward ooi on Jul 26, 2013 at 2:37 pm

Dear Rinpoche, It’s would be surprising to know how did Edward Leedskalnin build the Coral Castle alone. But maybe didn’t have the time to explain how he moved the coral that weights up to 30,000 pounds with his bare hands. I wonder how did Edward Leedskalnin found the mysteries of the ancient pyramid with the knowledge of the 4th grade.

  3. lewkwanleng on Dec 24, 2012 at 5:57 am

This is indeed very interesting, and it really puzzles me and I can’t help to think, what are the “unknown” things out there which we don’t know?

I am sure there are a lot of things which science can’t explain, and therefore, science does not cover everything. As such, we can’t really use the phrase “It can’t be proved by science so I won’t believe it”, because there are indeed many things can’t be explained by science.

I felt it is time to let our mind explore these unexplained phenomena and start questioning them, instead of just denying it all together.

  4. Sheryl KH (JB) on Jul 24, 2012 at 5:52 pm

I feel that Edward is like Einstein, someone who is so much more talented than many of us but yet act and look strange to many out there.

It is a real pity that he chose not to disclose the secrets, otherwise his knowledge can benefit so many works with a lot less time, energy and resources spent on the unnecessary.

  5. David Lai on Jun 15, 2012 at 6:42 pm

I love these videos. It’s amazing what could be done with such ‘paranormal’ knowledge. If we only knew how Edward Leedskalnin built his castle, then construction of KWPC and KFR would take a lot less time, less money and less headaches.

Well, I think such unsolved mysteries does challenge our minds to accept that there are things outside of our ordinary understanding of the world. Enter the world of the paranormal and the world of Buddhas, yidams, Dharma Protectors, Dakas and Dakinis. If such things exists, then the ‘paranormal’ aspect of Buddhism must exist as well!

  6. henry ooi on Jun 15, 2012 at 4:38 pm

Guess science has unraveled the mysteries of how pyramids, Stonehenge and other ancients monuments may have been built. I guess the ancients knew better than scientists of today. And yet we call them the older civilization. Look who’s talking!

…. the mind that is capable of saying, “I do not know,” is the only state in which anything can be discovered. But the man who says, “I know,” the man who has studied infinitely the varieties of human experience and whose mind is burdened with information, with encyclopedic knowledge, can he ever experience something that is not to be accumulated? He will find it extremely hard. When the mind totally puts aside all the knowledge that it has acquired, when for it there are no Buddhas, no Christs, no Masters, no teachers, no religions, no quotations; when the mind is completely alone, uncontaminated, which means that the movement of the known as come to and end – it is only then that there is a possibility of a tremendous revolution, a fundamental change…… The religious man is he who does not belong to any religion, to any nation, to any race, who is inwardly completely alone, in a state of not-knowing, and for him the blessing of the sacred comes into being.

Here is an extract (quite lengthy) taken from an interesting article written by a Buddhist teacher :-

“………. What’s the point of all this? The vital point is that we must and need to accept that religion is an illusion, or religion is about illusion. Notice how we cannot really prove empirically or co¬n¬vinc¬ingly that any of our religious beliefs — God, heaven, nirvana, Amitabha, Guanyin, karma, rebirth – are really true. Yet, for some reason, we find them (or any of them) meaningful.
Note that I do not say that they are false ideas — we don’t really know. Hence, they are illusions. An illusion, like desert mirages, can be real (we can actually see them). But we know that mirages, despite their visibi¬lity, do not really exist. Mirages have beauty and mystery – like works of art – to which extent, such illusions can be inspiring and healing. But, we must not delude ourselves that they are real, as you and I are real! Otherwise, we really need to carefully read Erik Erik¬son’s Young Man Luther.
If we make serious efforts to see our true personality with the eye of honesty, we will see that we do have serious personal problems, especially when we take up religion seriously, especially if we are religious teachers (lay or monastic). To the extent that religion has contained us or mellowed us, that is good. But, as religious teachers, what we speak before an audience can move or mold them in more ways than we can imagine.
The question we must ask ourself in our truest moments with ourself is: Am I teaching reli¬gion, or am I teaching my self? Am I really teaching Dharma, or am I projecting my ego? As a rule, if we are still unawakened, we can only teach our self: we share what we know and feel. These are all illusions, no matter how true or beautiful they may be (remember the mirage?)
If we strongly and stubbornly believe that what we teach is as “real” as you and I are real, then we are saying that these religious mirages we believe in are real! If we insist that we have tasted joy, peace and wisdom in such realities, then we are (consciously or unconsciously) claim¬ing to be enlightened (when we are not) – we seem to be talking Zen. This is the grandest of delusions. And those who believe us, would be heading down the same path as we are.
Animals believe what their senses show them to be real – these are, in fact, the only realities they know and act on. They would not know what a mirage is; they do not know the difference between illusion and delusion, between true and false. If we do not know what a mirage is, and we do not know what delusion is – what does that make us?
No wonder the Buddha says that if we hold on to wrong views, we would become animals. And if we encourage others in our delusion, then we will bring upon ourself hellish sufferings. We create our own delusory (but virtual¬ly real) worlds. We will be playing our own virtual games for aeons.
On a deeper level, all that has been written here points us to a recollection of non-self. Under¬lying all things, all our thoughts, actions and words, is the principle that there is no abiding essence, no immortal soul, no eternal self. Immortal soul or eternal self are an illusion. If we think that we have a permanent or eternal soul or self, then we are deluded (we are seeing what is not there, or looking at something but seeing something else). If we see and accept illusion as illusion, to that extent we are wise.”

The pastorship role was conceptualized by His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche to preserve the Dharma and to give laypeople an opportunity to commit to benefiting others. The first Buddhist Pastors were ordained on 24th October 2011 and every year since then, more have made this commitment to bring the Buddha’s teachings to people in our modern era.

One of the lamas who first recognised me as a tulku back in 1987 was His Eminence Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche. His Eminence is a world renown healing lama from Sera Monastery who now resides in Italy thanks to the ban on Dorje Shugden. Despite the obstacles, Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche has worked tirelessly for many decades to promote world peace and provide social services to the community. He has set up schools to provide education to the underprivileged, and clinics to provide medical assistance that is both based on Western and Eastern disciplines. Gangchen Rinpoche has met with various world leaders to establish initiatives that foster harmony, and also does pujas and rituals to stabilise and bless the environments.

We are attempting to plant some fresh vegetables and so far the results are promising. Today I was presented with our own homegrown lettuce and I must say it was delicious. I had three bowls of it and there were plenty more! Thank you! We are attempting to experiment, perfect as we go along and become better at planting a variety of vegetables. If we can grow more of our vegetables to consume, that would be wonderful. We can have natural pesticide free vegetables and help to defray growing food prices. It’s very rewarding to eat what we grow. Being vegetarian, most of my food comes from vegetables. I am looking forward to this very much as well as many others.

If everything is impermanent, unsatisfactory and non-self, it means that there is no abiding agent — something like a creator-God or powerful being out there — who can help us in understanding
the true nature of life, an understanding that liberates us from craving and ignorance, from suffering. Since we need to understand such vital truths for ourselves, it means that the true answers must lie only within ourselves. We cannot rely on anything outside of ourselves, even through rituals and vows (which are ways of seeking outside succour or salvation). Indeed, this is the only way to spiritual salvation — through self-reliance and selfrealization.

What Am I Writing Now

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

This picture was taken on Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. I was around 19 years old I think. I was living in Thubten Dhargye Ling Buddhist centre under the holy guide of Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen whom I love and respect so much. I was lucky to be a young boy in a huge city like Los Angeles and living under the guidance of a great master like him. I feel I have very good karma to find this master and trust him, follow him and live with him when other teenagers were doing such different things in a big city. My interest was always dharma. This was my tiny small room in Gaden for the first few years. The space next to my rooms are where the cows stayed. I had a huge crack in my wall and I can see the cows and they can see me! My room leaked very badly when it rained with a separate toilet nearby. The toilet barely worked and rarely flushed and had snakes in the toilet or behind the door a few times. The manager of the place told me I can get a better room that does not leak if I raise funds to build more rooms. I was barely getting enough to eat let alone raise funds for buildings. This was back in 1988 till around 1992 I lived in the small room in Gaden Shartse Monastery. I was having such a difficult time finding sponsorship, I could not at that time. But even still I was grateful to be in Gaden and always miss it. This room has since been renovated and fixed up. It has alot of memories for me. Spiritual memories. Tsem Rinpoche
