Blog Chat Etiquette

These are some simple guidelines to make the blog chat room a positive, enjoyable and enlightening experience for everyone. Please note that as this is a chat room, we chat! Do not flood the chat room, or post without interacting with others.

EXPAND
Be friendly

Remember that these are real people you are chatting with. They may have different opinions to you and come from different cultures. Treat them as you would face to face, and respect their opinions, and they will treat you the same.

Be Patient

Give the room a chance to answer you. Patience is a virtue. And if after awhile, people don't respond, perhaps they don't know the answer or they did not see your question. Do ask again or address someone directly. Do not be offended if people do not or are unable to respond to you.

Be Relevant

This is the blog of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. Please respect this space. We request that all participants here are respectful of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and his organisation, Kechara.

Be polite

Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others. If someone is disrespectful to you, ignore them instead of arguing with them.

Please be advised that anyone who contravenes these guidelines may be banned from the chatroom. Banning is at the complete discretion of the administrator of this blog. Should anyone wish to make an appeal or complaint about the behaviour of someone in the chatroom, please copy paste the relevant chat in an email to us at [email protected] and state the date and time of the respective conversation.

Please let this be a conducive space for discussions, both light and profound.

Rice-fish culture involves farmers introducing fish into their rice fields .This technique is good for both the fish and the… rice. Safely hidden from birds, the fish thrive in the dense rice plants, while they in turn provide a source of fertiliser with their droppings, eat insect pests and help to circulate oxygen around the rice field. Farmers tell us that keeping fish in rice fields can increase rice yields by up to 10% – plus they have the additional supplies of fish.

Paddy-cum-fish culture or rizipisciculture is, so to say, production of nutritionally balanced food at the source itself.

A person who is not “asleep” never tried to convince anybody of anything. He just sang his/her beautiful song and if we can hear it and understand the meaning within it, we will sing our own song in tune.

The mind plays many tricks and we have to look very carefully to see that we are not fooling ourselves. We do that with belief and the projection of what we want to believe. You will agree that we see the self operating in reaction, but having said that, when it is seen in reaction it ends. Most of the time we are unconscious of our reactions and so they don’t flower and wither instantly but increase into terrible problems. Said with the utmost compassion because it is impossible to help anyone blinded by their reactions and the pain of them. So freedom is in attention to the ways of self and hence the end of its power over one’s life. smile emoticon

Right since the time we become aware we get caught up in knots, the mind created knots and the tragedy for most of us is that we do not even know that we are caught up in our own created knots because we do not know that, we are literally driven by our minds which means that we are driving ourselves into further knots. To become intensely aware of this, not as a solution to our problems and not as an escape but factuality of our existence is in itself simplicity. There is nothing to do about this, any doing without being aware is further getting into our own knots. JUST BE and all knots will dissolve in that ocean of awareness & simplicity. The simple is indeed beautiful for, you have entered your own sanctum sanctorum.

As I lay still, cold, alone and never to wake up again, what have I done with my life to prepare for this ‘eternity’? No one will see me nor will I see them again. They would not want to see me again as I turn blue, brown, bloat, smell and decompose into dust.~Tsem Rinpoche

What Am I Writing Now

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

One of the most BEAUTIFUL, captivating and lovely shrines/temples/altars to Buddha I have ever had the merits to gaze upon. The background is so nice. Busy but not distracting. The lighting is a perfect balance to highlight the attainments of Buddha as it's directly emanating behind his head. Buddha statue itself is proportionate. Just so beautiful.

This is super simple yet super powerful and it is the black and white truth. Read this short thought and contemplate deeply. Tsem Rinpoche
1 week ago
At the age of 23, Tsongkhapa went to the region of U to meet up with some people from his hometown, Amdo. His friends entreated him to return to Amdo and they also gave him a letter from his mother. She also requested him to return to Amdo and had slipped one of her white hairs in the letter too. Touched by this, Tsongkhapa considered returning to Amdo for a while. However, when he contemplated deeper. he realized that if he left for Amdo, he would be disrupting his practices of mental discipline. As there was no benefit, he sadly decided not to return to his homeland. Instead he sent a thangka of a painting of himself to his mother in Amdo. When his mother opened it, the picture spoke to her and it was as if Tsongkhapa was there with her, which brought her great joy. In a letter accompanying the thangka, Tsongkhapa requested his mother and sister to build a stupa around the sandalwood tree which had sprung up at his birth. His mother and sister complied and from that stupa, the holy monastery of Kumbum developed.

This is powerful. We are in a great place and that is Kechara. Some in the past and present and maybe future may think otherwise. And that is ok. Everyone has their karma to contend with. But if we put our efforts in Kechara and it's our genuine efforts, it can be no different than other places and even better. Where we put our efforts is where we will get the results. I guess this illustration says it all. "The grass isn't greener on the other side. It's greener where YOU water it.". Where we 'water' it is the effort we put in. Since we are here, we should do our best instead of doing little or mediocre thinking there is a better place and this is just a transition place. Because maybe this is the best place but some of us don't see it because we are blinded by our projections. Just my thoughts. Tsem Rinpoche
