I know I don’t belong in sprawling cities, crowded places, busy stores, paved streets, smoke-filled skies, pollution, restaurants, airports, boats and trains. I am not interested in the pursuit of company, money, fame, name, place or position as it is all transitory. All will be gone in time and only time wasted because it never lasts. Why be involved in human affairs of ego, position, power, competition, fighting, wealth, careers, dreams, pursuits, goals, deceptions, romance and everything hedonistic that bring only a semblence of happiness but not the real permanent happiness we truly seek. We spend our lives pursuing goals that are not lasting nor can we keep. That is not where I belong nor what I should do.

I belong in the mountains where trees dominate the terrain, majestic hills sweep into blue skies, mountain streams of turquoise inviting me to partake and beautiful gentle animals roam. I belong in a small retreat house engaged in devotions to Manjushri, incense billowing, puja bells ringing daily and meditation upon the ultimate truth of reality expunging all traces of samsara from within my mind stream. Where I take my vegetarian meals, wear simple maroon cotton robes and make offerings on my shrine daily. Where I have no worldly affairs to attend to but my minutes, hours, days, months and years are spent on the highest of the high, which is the pursuit of full enlightenment as shown by Lord Buddha.

I pray to Lord Manjushri I be granted this soon in this life and all future lives. May I never be born in families, locations and situations where I am distracted by the endless and useless affairs of humans from the holy dharma but always near a supreme holy guru who is no other than Manjushri. May I partake of the Dharma from Manjushri my guru and quench my thirst for the final time.

    1. Mahakala Bernagchen –
    2. Citipati –
    3. Six-Armed Mahakala –
    4. Vaishravana –
    5. Pehar –

The above article is another thorough and logical teachings of Rinpoche on the Dorje Shugden practice in the Sakya lineage.

The CTA and many anti-Shugden people like to degrade Dorje Shugden by calling Him dogyal, a king spirit from Do, claiming His nature is a spirit. It is true that Dorje Shugden together with Setrap and Tsui Marpo (Kache Marpo) are referred to as the gyalpo sum, the three spirit kings, by name in both the Sakya and Gelug lineage but that doesn’t mean that their nature is a spirit. Before Dorje Shugden was propitiated in the Gelug lineage, the 30th Sakya Trizin Ngawang Sonam Rinchen first enthroned and accepted Dorje Shugden as a protector. Trizin is a throne-holder, same as Tripa used in the Gelug school for Gaden Tripa; both are lineage holders, the person who kept the lineage teachings, practiced and taught it to others unmistakenly. A person of this calibre would have the wisdom to tell whether Dorje Shugden’s nature is enlightened or not.

An enlightened Buddha is limitless; he has the abilities to manifest and emanate in different forms according to the needs of his audience. Not like most of us, some spiritual practitioners can recognize these emanations due to their spiritual attainments. These attainments are the results from the practice of the Buddha’s teachings thus allowing the said practitioners the clarity to recognize any emanations of the Buddha. This clarity is the quality that the Sakya Trizin and Gaden Tripa possess. They have the ability to absorb the massive corpus teachings of the lineage, practice them and gained attainments from them without mistakes. Therefore, they have the clarity to tell Dorje Shugden is an emanation of Manjushri though He emanated as a king spirit by type and by name.

The name gyalpo is what the CTA held on firmly, ignoring the ability of a Buddha and the lineage masters. When CTA insisted Dorje Shugden is a spirit, they directly put down the lineage and the lineage masters and deny of their clarity of mind and spiritual attainments. Dorje Shugden was enthroned, praised, propitiated by SEVEN Sakya Trizins, some of which is the emanation of Dorje Shugden, and some wrote lengthy kangsol and prayer. Their actions are the clear evidence of Dorje Shugden’s nature, and His practice as a major one.

As a Dorje Shugden practitioner, seeing the evidence presented on this post, I have gained stronger faith in Dorje Shugden. I choose to believe in all the lineage masters and highly attained beings, including my Guru, His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche, for they have the clarity to see the truth as compared to the ordinary people at the CTA who are still deluded by the three poisons.

This article brought us a different light on betrayal and how limitless the compassionate mind is. An enlightened being does care and love equally regardless. They accept beings as they are, going all the way to guide and help them like the space that receive everything without prejudice.

Our ordinary mind works very differently. We betray, lie, avoid, pretend, have endless excuses for not being successful but at the same time we want god, our teacher, attained being to think like us and support our lame excuses for not transforming. This condition is the very reason why we do not see our problems.

The above is the difference between a selfless and a selfish mind. Betrayal will not surface once the mind has shifted to focus on the benefits of others. Instead of wondering why ordinary mind works in a certain way, we should concentrate on achieving the state of the extraordinary mind.

过了不久,在机缘巧合之下通过推特看到有位学生请教一行禅师关于“What is the hardest thing that you practice?”

Dharmapalas practice is a common practice in Tibetan Buddhism, because of the function of Dharmapala. They arise to support our spiritual progress and practice through a number of methods. As human beings, we are never short of worldly problems on a daily basis and most of the time these problems consume almost all of our time and effort, technically rendering us hapless in pursue of spiritual development. Hence, we propitiate Dharmapala to help us remove obstacles and difficulties that block spiritual progress.

Dharmapalas often arise in wrathful forms with wrathful sounding liturgies. Pastor Niral explains here that the “wrath is testament to their quality of extreme compassion which motivates them to act urgently to bless and protect”, akin to a “…mother angry at her child for doing something that can cause harm”. Dharmapalas in wrathful form also means the speed in which the particular protector can come to our aid.

From the 10 different Dharmapalas shared here, it is apparent that each and every one of them are in wrathful form, and has violent imagery, but it does not mean that they are demon or evil. In fact, most of the Dharmapalas depicted here are emanation of enlightened beings such as Heruka & Vajrayogini, Tara, Chenrezig, Saraswati and Manjushri. Therefore it is inessential to judge a Dharmapala by his look.

Due to the circumstances Dharmapala arose, they have a specific purpose or function; e.g. protecting a particular lineage, or certain teachings. They do this because the teachings within these lineages can have a very real benefit in people’s lives, lead them to high attainments and even enlightenment. Protecting a teaching or lineage specifically does not automatically mean it is sectarian. In fact, out of great compassion, Dharmapala such as Dorje Shugden treats all sentient beings equally with love and compassion.

Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Niral for this detailed article on Dharmapala.

The story of Mahadeva happened to be the first Tibetan Buddhism mythology that I came across. Needless to say, I was stumped but equally amused by the uncontrolled desire of Mahadeva, who is the King of the Gods. This got me thinking that if a powerful King of the Gods is attached to his desire, he is therefore, subject to the same cycle of pain & pleasure, just like us. Therefore, ascending to the Gods realm not only is the answer to solving any of our worldly problem, it is potentially a more dangerous place as the level of desire / attachment is much worse.

It was due to the great compassion of Buddha Shakyamuni who saw that Mahadeva needed to be subdued to curb the sexual desire that was permeating the realms. He manifested into Heruka Chakrasamvara and his consort Vajrayogini, who look like Mahadeva but much more magnificent. Upon seeing the divine form of Heruka and Vajrayogini, Mahadeva and his consort, Kalratri were immediately subdued. They offered themselves under the feet of Heruka and Vajrayogini as a sign that they recognized their wisdom and power. And this is the origin story of Heruka Chakrasamvara and Vajrayogini.

The 24 Holy Places were 24 powerful places on earth controlled by Mahadeva who assigned each place to a powerful guardian god and goddess. After Mahadeva was subdued these 24 sites become imbedded into the physical landscape. These places are very powerful energy centres, especially for those who practice the Vajrayogini tantras.

Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Niral for this article, it is very interesting. I will read the 2nd part (8 great Charnel Grounds) as soon as I can.

Before I join Kechara, i did hear about manjushri name but not really interested to know details.Today, I learned a lot about Manjushri especially many deities in Gelug lineage is emanation of Manjushri.
I did visit Manjushri Hill (MH) twice and I can feel tranquility and calmful at that place. MH is a higher place so I can view on wisdom hall, dukkar apartment and many vegetables farms as well.It is greenery view.
This four arms Mansjushri located just nice on top of MH. I can feel that she is bestow us wisdom and skill in order to help us to do dharma work and benefit others.
Thanks Rinpoche on Kechara Forest Retreat(KFR) conceptualization. This is the dharma center for us to learne and practice dharma.

    With folded hands,

What Am I Writing Now

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Such a wondrous place to be with such a view that heals the soul. Why live in a city where it is unnatural and polluted. Everyday in the city is a day away from where we belong. We belong among the greens, forest, mountains and clean air. We belong in such a place and doing our retreats, sadhanas and mantras to find the ultimate place of belonging and peace....the ultimate place is within us with a developed spiritual mind. Hard to achieve among distractions in the city.

This is a thangka of Cittamani Tara where her body mandala appears clearly. This image was circulated back in Thubten Dhargye Ling when HH Zong Rinpoche taught her sacred practice which was a pure vision of Thapu Dorje Chang. Thapu Dorje Chang received this practice in a pure vision. He was the guru of Pabongka Rinpoche.

When we see others who behave not according to our expectations and just to ‘get them back’ we throw all caution to the wind and we get angry, retaliate, fight back, scream, yell and then quit, it shows our mind. Everything is about our own mind. That is not to say they are not at fault. But if we want the world to act perfectly in our presence and then we don’t get angry, that is SO INCREDIBLE IDEALISTIC AND WE ARE DOOMED FROM THE START in anything we do. We have to keep our equilibrium always. Remember our vows, promises and our own state of mind. Be kind to ourselves and not let the other person throw us off because we have to be in control of our own minds. Remember, our mind and how it reacts is the key.--- H.E Tsem Rinpoche

A 19th century Sakya thangka depicting the Five Emanations of Dorje Shugden. At the bottom left is the grandson of Kunga Lodro, the 33rd Sakya Throneholder Pema Dudul (1792–1853) . This form of an enthroned Dorje Shugden is similar to another thangka in Trode Khangsar

So this is a general overview of Guhyasamaja. I’ve only hit on some of the high points of it. There’s a lot more in it. So when we think of Guhyasamaja practice, we shouldn’t just think in terms of some set of rituals. It’s important to realize that this is a vast system that, as I said, offers the template for what is going on in general in anuttarayoga tantra practice on the generation stage and complete stage. And it has extraordinary detail on the death, bardo, and rebirth process, how to work with it, how to recognize what’s going on. And then there’s the whole apparatus with we can actually derive the meaning of the tantra from the obscure type of language in which it was written. Read more - http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/?p=87052

HH the Dalai Lama prays with HH Trijang Rinpoche and HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. Such a beautiful video of His Holiness Dalai Lama, His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and His Holiness Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche (Very exalted high Nyingma lama) are all praying together. In the background you see a young Kyabje Lati Rinpoche too. So beautiful. This is how it was before the ban. All the sects and high lamas were superbly harmonious. After the Dorje Shugden ban things changed for the worse. May the ban be released soon. Tsem Rinpoche
