Photos On The Go

We have started a PHOTOS ON THE GO section on the blog home page. When I am out, I can send pics to share with my blog friends. Sometimes the picture is too ‘small’ for a blog post and too ‘big’ not to share. So this is a good alternative.

The hardworking crew at E-division has worked this out for me. I have so many photos to share with all of you. I can upload pictures taken by my phone here directly. How neat is that? I thought that is possible and Kechara E-division is making it possible. You can just click on the picture and see the bigger version..neat.

    Dear Rinpoche,

Thank you for inspiring and guiding us in this great Lamrim Retreat.Your presence and Dharma teachings at the start of the retreat and again on Wednesday night gave great impetus for us to give of our best to it.

The Lamrim retreat committee, headed by Mr Ngeow, did a fantastic job. Kind Doreen provided sets of copies of Lamrim (according to Days)in enlarged print.I had to recite the Lamrim, using them, owing to my weak and failing eyesight.

The 24 hour Recitation moved me beyond words. If ever there was a chance for anyone to use a short span of twenty-four hours to realize(for an instant) the maximum use of their optimum human rebirth, this was it: to recite the sacred Lamrim, Buddha’s 84000 teachings condensed in a book and presented as the graduated stages of the Path to complete Peace and Happiness, Total Freedom from Suffering, Full Enlightenment.

Blog Chat Etiquette

These are some simple guidelines to make the blog chat room a positive, enjoyable and enlightening experience for everyone. Please note that as this is a chat room, we chat! Do not flood the chat room, or post without interacting with others.

EXPAND
Be friendly

Remember that these are real people you are chatting with. They may have different opinions to you and come from different cultures. Treat them as you would face to face, and respect their opinions, and they will treat you the same.

Be Patient

Give the room a chance to answer you. Patience is a virtue. And if after awhile, people don't respond, perhaps they don't know the answer or they did not see your question. Do ask again or address someone directly. Do not be offended if people do not or are unable to respond to you.

Be Relevant

This is the blog of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche. Please respect this space. We request that all participants here are respectful of H.E. Tsem Rinpoche and his organisation, Kechara.

Be polite

Avoid the use of language or attitudes which may be offensive to others. If someone is disrespectful to you, ignore them instead of arguing with them.

Please be advised that anyone who contravenes these guidelines may be banned from the chatroom. Banning is at the complete discretion of the administrator of this blog. Should anyone wish to make an appeal or complaint about the behaviour of someone in the chatroom, please copy paste the relevant chat in an email to us at [email protected] and state the date and time of the respective conversation.

Please let this be a conducive space for discussions, both light and profound.

The Maha Parinibbāna Sutta records the Buddha as declaring to us, “Dwell with yourself as an island, with yourself as refuge, with no other refuge – dwell with the Dharma as an island, with the Dharma as refuge, with no other refuge.”

If everything is impermanent, unsatisfactory and non-self, it means that there is no abiding agent — something like a creator-God or powerful being out there — who can help us in understanding
the true nature of life, an understanding that liberates us from craving and ignorance, from suffering. Since we need to understand such vital truths for ourselves, it means that the true answers must lie only within ourselves. We cannot rely on anything outside of ourselves, even through rituals and vows (which are ways of seeking outside succour or salvation). Indeed, this is the only way to spiritual salvation — through self-reliance and selfrealization.

Extract from an interesting article : “……….. We still speak for God, in more sophisticated ways than all the times before put together. We keep speaking for the gods, for God, for the Buddha – we are speaking so much, so often, that we do not ever hear ourselves. Remarkably, the Buddha knew about this all along. He refused to speak for God. If God does not or cannot speak for Himself, then no one should. The Buddha is a listener, the great listener, who listens to the soft gentle voices of nature, telling us where to look for God and beyond. These voices are all within ourselves, the voice of our heart’s love. We can only hear them when we are happily silent. Hence, the Buddha is also known as the silent sage (muni). We can understand why the Buddha called his saints “listeners” (sāvaka). If we want to follow the Buddha to hear those soft gentle voices of wisdom, we need to stop speaking (and writing), for a while at least, so that we can sit in silence, settling our body and mind in true inner peace. Then, we will hear that silent voice that the Buddha himself heard, that inspired him to give up all the world and its gods, and awaken to everything.”

When we start to see the light that we really are, the light waking up in us, the radiance, we realize it has no intention to change us. It has no intention to harmonize. It has no agenda. It just happens. The Truth is the only thing we’ll ever run into that has no agenda. Everything else will have an agenda. Everything. Did we ever pull weeds from a lawn, grabbing only their tops, and discover they were back again so quickly that it was as if the lawn was never weeded at all. There is a difference between pulling the weeds of confusion out and getting to the root of Truth. So it’s really important to get to the point of maturity where we are willing to look at what is fundamental.

You CAN change, you CAN transform, you CAN improve, we can overcome it when we think we can overcome it, because we create the karma to overcome it. It is not magic, it is called karma.

If we are grounded in the foundational practices and we enter in Heruka and Vajra Yogini practices, we can gain high attainments, or enter in Kechara Paradise with our very bodies at the time of our death and or full enlightenment. This is the path that is most recommended by our lineage gurus.

I found this illuminating article explaining how much ‘poison’ we actually store in our bodies because we don’t consume the right foods or drinks to cleanse it! If you have never had a detox session before, then it is highly likely that your body contains a lot of ‘poison’ which is bad for your health.

This article tells you how having these toxins in your body can affect your health. It also offers simple solutions for you to eliminate them from your body.

Do put in some time and effort to take good care of your body – it is the vehicle that your mind inhabits in this life, and when one has good health, one is able to do more to benefit others.

What Am I Writing Now

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

This Vajra Yogini is in Rashi Gempil Temple in Howell, New Jersey. My guru Kensur Rinpoche invited this from India and enshrined Her in his house next to the temple. His house was right next to the temple. I use to go and look at Her always extremely fascinated. The statue is there now and here it is. Beautiful. Tsem Rinpoche

I want to be this Yogi in the picture. I want to be just like him deep within myself exploring the outer universe because I have conquered and mastered my inner universe. Because everything on my inside is explored, purified, cleaned and awakened, I venture out to the thousands of universes and limitless minds to bring them the truth of existence and phenomena. I wish to travel the three realms, various planes and six forms of existences. I wish to share vision of emptiness and bodhicitta which is the view to liberate the countless beings still trapped within themselves and their surroundings. I wish to be of tremendous benefit as I sit by my tree and placid lake. Tsem Rinpoche

This blog post has since reached over 100,000 now. This is news to rejoice. The left side sees Buddha arriving miraculously heralded by his entourage/students of Arhats riding various animal mounts. The Arhats have gained certain supernatural abilities. Buddha descends to the house and is at the door. Receives alms from Maghada Sangmo and gives dharma teachings. As a result, the city has taken refuge from listening to the Buddha and many achieve Arhatship. Due to Sangmo's devotion, faith and trust in Buddha, the Buddha arrives at her home and turns the wheel of dharma and many enter into the dharma because of this. This is a clip from a old thangka. TR

This picture was taken on Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. I was around 19 years old I think. I was living in Thubten Dhargye Ling Buddhist centre under the holy guide of Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen whom I love and respect so much. I was lucky to be a young boy in a huge city like Los Angeles and living under the guidance of a great master like him. I feel I have very good karma to find this master and trust him, follow him and live with him when other teenagers were doing such different things in a big city. My interest was always dharma. This was my tiny small room in Gaden for the first few years. The space next to my rooms are where the cows stayed. I had a huge crack in my wall and I can see the cows and they can see me! My room leaked very badly when it rained with a separate toilet nearby. The toilet barely worked and rarely flushed and had snakes in the toilet or behind the door a few times. The manager of the place told me I can get a better room that does not leak if I raise funds to build more rooms. I was barely getting enough to eat let alone raise funds for buildings. This was back in 1988 till around 1992 I lived in the small room in Gaden Shartse Monastery. I was having such a difficult time finding sponsorship, I could not at that time. But even still I was grateful to be in Gaden and always miss it. This room has since been renovated and fixed up. It has alot of memories for me. Spiritual memories. Tsem Rinpoche

~ "Is There A Ban on Dorje Shugden's Practice?" ~ https://youtu.be/femiJw8eaFs http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/dorje-shugden-teaching-videos.html Despite the overt discrimination and aggression against both lay and ordained Dorje Shugden practitioners around the world, some have attempted to deny the existence of a ban on Dorje Shugden’s practice. This video explores historical and current events surrounding Dorje Shugden’s practice since 1996, to ascertain beyond any doubt that there is most certainly a ban on Dorje Shugden’s practice, that this ban has been enforced, and that the rights of Dorje Shugden worshippers’ to engage in their faith without fear of persecution has been breached. ~"Is Dorje Shugden's Practice Dangerous?"~ https://youtu.be/v_bQnGBPoVg http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/dorje-shugden-teaching-videos.html Detractors of Dorje Shugden’s practice claim that this practice creates harm and danger for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan cause as well as the individual practitioner. Such accusations are not only untrue, but also challenge the most basic Buddhist concepts such as karma and the nature of enlightened beings. This video directly addresses such unfounded claims and rebuts it with clear logic and also foundational beliefs that the Buddhist religion is built on. From: June Tang (Khjb)

This wonderful lady is on her knees begging a stranger to not beat and hurt this dog. She puts her pride/ego aside for the life of the dog as she is a animal lover and genuine human being. Beautiful. For our animal works to be successful, we have to be like her. We have to be able to swallow our ego, beg, plead and be selfless in taking care of others (dogs in this case). We have to beg and create awareness for public support constantly. We have to be able to put our own feelings aside and work hard and tirelessly. There is no quitting because once we start, the animals depend on us and we cannot let them down and the people who believe in us down. We must be strong, committed, read up on internet on how to take care of animals/dogs, social media our cause to create awareness and be tireless. We must be updated on the latest news on care for them. In the age of internet, everything can be found. Once we take care of animals, we have to put all sense of selfishness aside. What do we g

~Is Dorje Shugden’s Practice Sectarian?~ https://youtu.be/v52s_pF2A4o http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/dorje-shugden-teaching-videos.html Since 1996, the long-established practice of the enlightened Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden was banned. Although no sound reasons were given for this ban, some have claimed that this practice causes sectarianism and disunity among Tibetan Buddhists. However, such statements directly contradict historical facts surrounding this protector practice. In this video, key issues, facts and events pertaining to Dorje Shugden’s practice are discussed, which clearly proves beyond a doubt that Dorje Shugden’s practice is neither sectarian nor ‘supremacist’ in nature.
