Thank you for visiting today. I have a very special treat for all of you. This is by special permission and I am excited to share with you all something profoundly close to my heart and beneficial for countless beings.
The interesting story of how Dorje Shugden arose as a supreme world peace protector is blogged here for your learning pleasure and blessings. He was many great beings in his previous lives prior to arising as the protector Dorje Shugden. In ‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors’ which is written by His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche clearly reveals how Dorje Shugden arose as a dharma protector. When you understand this historical account, you will realize Dorje Shugden is no ordinary being but a enlightened being manifesting as a supreme protector. This story recounted here in the video and graphic novel are based on the history of how Dorje Shugden arose as a dharma protector according to His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche in ‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors’. Accuracy here is guaranteed.
‘Music Delighting The Ocean of Protectors’ is a complete volume which explains the practice, lineage, rituals, mandalas, meditations, history and benefits of Dorje Shugden. It includes retreats, how to make tormas, even practices for deeper retreats on this supreme Dorje Shugden. His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche personally wrote this text out in order to preserve the practice for future generations.
When Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was killed by the then Tibetan government due to jealousy of his fame, his future incarnations were outlawed and his ladrang (estates) confiscated. His incarnations continued to appear but without his official name and title until present day. All records of him and his written works numbering into many volumes were destroyed as well. His writings and works have been preserved in present day Mongolia. Many lamas have suffered the same fate by the Tibetan government in feudal Tibet. But thanks to the writings of the erudite scholar Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche we have an accurate account of the beginnings of this great protector.
I have sought and received permission to post here and share with the world the incredible history and background of how Dorje Shugden arose as a supreme Dharma protector. I thank the people who allowed this.

His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche the tutor to the 14th Dalai Lama for over 30 years. Trijang Rinpoche passed down many practices, lineages and transmission to H.H. the Dalai Lama as well as tens of thousands of monks in Drepung, Sera and Gaden Monastery. The senior masters and scholars of the Gelug world all have taken teachings from Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche without exception. Trijang Rinpoche was a scholar of the highest order, master of sutra and tantra and seasoned practitioner with pure attainments of the higher realms of meditations.

His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche meeting the then Pope as a representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama
His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche was extremely close and good friends with His Holiness the Karmapa. Karmapa would visit Trijang Rinpoche and vice versa. Karmapa never had an issue with Trijang Rinpoche’s strong practice and proliferation of Dorje Shugden. Karmapa predicted there will come a time when many will need the assistance of Dorje Shugden. Even the current Karmapa never criticizes Dorje Shugden.

‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors’ is a whole volume of text solely devoted to the history and practice of Dorje Shugden written by His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche. Trijang Rinpoche predicted there will be ‘obstacles’ to the growth of Dorje Shugden in the future after he has passed. When that time comes he has penned down accurate information on this supreme protector so we can all refer to this text. He composed this text for those to learn more on Dorje Shugden. Looks like the time has come. This text has 555 Tibetan pages.

His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, His Holiness the 10th Panchen Rinpoche and His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Both Trijang Rinpoche and Panchen Rinpoche practiced Dorje Shugden their whole lives. Masters of sutra and tantra. Beautiful photo.
The two gurus of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for thirty years were exceptionally close, friendly and highly respectful of each other. It was their good relations that worked hand in hand in educating the young Dalai Lama to be the great scholar he is today. Their Holinesses Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and Kyabje Ling Rinpoche were scholars, meditational masters and writers of the highest caliber. Tibet would not have chosen any lesser to educate the Dalai Lama.
His Holiness Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche or otherwise known affectionately as Kyabje Dechen Nyingpo. Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche was the root guru of both Their Holinesses Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche and Kyabje Ling Rinpoche. Trijang Rinpoche and Ling Rinpoche held Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche in the highest regard. Their lineage all stem from Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche’s teachings. The majority of the Gelug school of Buddhism stem from this great master and lineage holder Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche.

Beautiful Dorje Shugden story in graphic novel form, for easy understanding. All people from children to adult will definitely love to read this. A true story been told of how Dorje Shugden arose as a world Dharma protector to benefit all sentient beings . This historical account, according to HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche in ‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors should be reveals to all to understand better, clearing all the odds . Dorje Shugden is an enlightened being and not evil as claimed.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful sharing.
Telling Dorje Shugden story and origins using comic is a great method for many to understand. Many people capture information better by visual and remember it longer. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article. Dorje Shugden is clearly an enlightened dharma protector. No one will teach another person the way to murder themselves. I hope everyone will do more reading and not be influenced by all the baseless allegation that Dorje Shugden is evil.
This comic book is a brilliant idea. It is very suitable for children and even adult because there are not many words but yet it delivers the most important information to us. Thank you Tsem Rinpoche for always make things so easy for us to learn.
I am amazed with Dorje Shugden’s previous incarnations. All of them were great masters and they did not show any sign of degeneration from one lifetime to another. In fact, every incarnation has done great deeds to the preservation and spreading of Buddhism.
Since Dorje Shugden’s mind stream is the same as all his previous incarnations, he cannot be an evil spirit. Besides, when he made the promise to become a protector, it is based on the motivation that he wanted to protect Tsongkhapa’s teachings and also to help the Dharma practitioners. So to say a highly attained mind stream suddenly degenerates and becomes an evil spirit, it just does not make sense.
Mantras are sacred verbalized words that invoke the protection and blessings of the deity to whom the mantra is ascribed. Mantras are also the manifestations of Buddhas in the form of ‘sounds’, hence the various mantras of Dorje Shugden contain the essence of the Protector.
Dorje Shugden’s main mantra 多杰雄登主要咒语 OM BENZA WIKI BITANA SOHA
Dorje Shugden’s mantra for peace 平和咒语
For gaining attainments through the energy of Peaceful Shugden, peace of environment and mind, harmony in one’s abode and dwelling area, and calming of disasters OM BENZA WIKI BITANA SHANTI SIDDHI HUNG
Dorje Shugden’s mantra for health 福寿安康咒语

Dorje Shugden’s mantra for control 控制咒语

Dorje Shugden’s mantra to grant protection 庇护咒语

Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness. In general Tibet has produced many powerful methods for the growth of our spiritual evolution. Dorje Shugden is an angel, a saint, a powerful spiritual protector-warrior who originated 350 years ago when a highly awakened Tibetan Lama fulfilled his vows to become a special being to grant protection, wisdom, material needs, safety when travelling (normal and astral travel) and spiritual awakening. Both the Great 5th Dalai Lama and the current His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama composed short yet effective prayers to invoke upon the power and blessings of this special saint and protector. One can recite either one of the prayers that you feel suits you, anytime or even daily. When you feel a special need for help, you can recite either prayer anytime. When you are feeling down, afraid or just need a blessing, you can recite them. After reciting either invocation, it is good to chant the mantra of Dorje Shugden: Om Benza Wiki Bitana Soha.
You do not have to be a Buddhist or practitioner of any religion to invoke upon the blessings and protection of this special enlightened and awakened angel Dorje Shugden. He helps all without discrimination or bias as he is filled with compassion and love. Divinity has no boundaries, they help all who call upon them.
Enclosed are the prayers in English, Chinese and Tibetan.

This is an important divination (‘mo’) text composed by Dorje Shugden himself. Dorje Shugden took trance of the Choyang Dulzin oracle lama, the senior oracle of Gaden Shartse Monastery, and instantly on the spot composed this text within two hours.
The divination text contains information on how to use dice to do divination for the future and is known to be highly accurate. When practitioners use this text, they will be in direct contact with Dorje Shugden to get answers to questions about the future. It is for those who have good samaya with Dorje Shugden and are free of the eight worldly dharmas to be of benefit to others in divining the future.

This very rare teaching was given at the request of Kyabje Zong Rinpoche’s student, Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen, one of the pioneers who taught Buddhism in the West to many disciples since the 1970s.
Tibetans commonly refer to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama as the “sun and moon” of Tibetan Buddhism. They are the center of Tibetan Buddhist civilization, which draws to its sphere of influence millions of non-Tibetan practitioners. The Panchen Lama’s incarnation line began with the 16th abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen (1570 – 1662). He was bestowed the title of Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama after being declared as an emanation of Amitabha.
After being given the title, his three previous incarnations were posthumously also bestowed the title, making Lobsang Chokyi Gyeltsen the 4th Panchen Lama. He became a teacher to many Tibetans, Bhutanese and Mongolian religious figures, including His Holiness the 4th and 5th Dalai Lamas, and the 1st Jetsun Dampa of Mongolia. A prolific author, Chokyi Gyeltsen is credited with over a hundred compositions, including a number of commentaries and ritual texts that remain central in the Gelukpa tradition today. Along with his role as a teacher of the Dharma, the Panchen Lamas are usually responsible for the recognition of the rebirths of the Dalai Lamas, and vice versa.
The 10th Panchen Lama, Lobsang Trinley Lhundrub Chokyi Gyeltsen (19 February 1938 – 28 January 1989) continued both the spiritual and political roles of his predecessors. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his contemporary, was even heard to say and echo the Panchen Lama’s own words that the Dalai Lama would safeguard Tibet from the outside while the Panchen Lama would safeguard Tibet from the inside, as he never left Tibet after the political troubles of 1959. He was truly loved by the Tibetans, all the way until his passing. When he taught, thousands of people would attend, not only from his own Gelug lineage, but masters and practitioners from all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.
At his sprawling monastery of Tashi Lhunpo, he has a special chapel specifically dedicated to Dorje Shugden, where prayers and rituals are performed on a daily basis. In his great omniscience the Panchen Lama held Dorje Shugden as the principal Dharma protector of the monastery. He also personally propitiated Dorje Shugden among other Dharma protectors, and even wrote extensive prayers and rituals to Dorje Shugden. These rituals and prayers are contained within his ‘sung bum’ or collected works, which are provided here. As such a great lama, with an erudite and clear understanding of the Buddhist scriptures, a teacher to millions in both Tibet and China, from an established incarnation line and an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha, he could not be mistaken about his practice of Dorje Shugden.
His Holiness 10th Panchen Lama is known for his composition of commentaries and practice texts that are still in use by contemporary Buddhist practitioners both in Tibet and across the world. One of these is a powerful ritual composition propitiating the compassionate Dorje Shugden.
Upon the request by Acharya Lobsang Jangchub to compose a shorter version of the prayer (sadhana) for the exhortation of activities of Dorje Shugden, Panchen Lama immediately composed an abbreviate form of Dorje Shugden’s Kangsol. This text is entitled “Manjunatha’s (Tsongkapa) Lineage protector Dorje Shugden and five forms wrathful propitiations and confessional prayers and fulfilment of activities rites” or “Melodious sound of Accomplishment of the Four Activities” for short. Once the prayers were completed, he had signs and strong feelings that Dorje Shugden has been working hard to protect the Buddhadharma in general and the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa specifically.
Mirroring the abilities of one of his earlier incarnations, Khedrub Je, a disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa and master of both sutra and tantra, the Panchen Lama used his compositional skill and poetic prowess to create a masterful sadhana. Worthy of note is a praise in which the first letter of each verse is a Tibetan vowel. Such compositions are rarely seen, and have historically only been used when propitiating senior Dharma protectors such as Palden Lhamo and Kalarupa.
The Panchen Lama also stated that while composing the Dorje Shugden sadhana (prayers) he was filled with a sense of happiness and bliss. He ends the composition with not only his official title but his ordination name, Tenzin Trinley Jigme Choje Wangchuk, endorsing the validity of his work. He composed the sadhana in his own Tashi Lhunpo monastery while in the Hall of Clear Light and Bliss.
For the first time available, Dorje Shugden and his entourage of 32 assistants of his mandala.
Dorje Shugden is a powerful protector deity who is also an emanation of Manjushri, a wisdom bestowing Buddha. Therefore, he has great ability to help us to progress further on the spiritual path. He does this by helping us to overcome obstacles and problems for the modern individual.
Due to his enlightened nature, Dorje Shugden is able to manifest 32 deities and within the same abode resides Setrap and Kache Marpo:-
1. 5 Dorje Shugden families or emanations. They consists of the following:-
– Dulzin Dorje Shugden, which performs activities to eliminate inner and outer obstacles.
– Shize, which performs activities to pacify all illnesses and disease.
– Gyenze, which performs activities to increase all desirable material and spiritual wealth.
– Wangze, which performs activities to control difficult people and circumstances.
– Trakze, which performs activities to wrathfully eliminate all insurmountable obstacles and life-threatening situations.
2. 9 Mothers. They represent protection of the five senses and developing control of the four elements. These are all attributes that signify their ability to assist tantric practitioners with their higher meditations.
3. 8 Guiding Monks. They represent the Eight Great Bodhisattvas (Avalokitesvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Kshitigarbha, Akashagarbha, Sarva-nivarana-viskambini) and they bring about the growth of the Dharma, through the Sangha, Dharma practitioners and Dharma establishments.
4. 10 Youthful & Wrathful Attendants. They represent the ten wrathful attendants to avert inner and outer obstacles. They are beings who are from Mongolia, China, Kashmir, India, Bengali, etc.
5. Setrap. He is a senior Dharma Protector from India and an emanation of Amitabha Buddha. He had enthroned Dorje Shugden as an authentic Dharma Protector. Therefore, he also resides within the same mandala of Dorje Shugden.
6. Kache Marpo. He is not an emanation of Dorje Shugden but he is still an enlightened Dharma Protector in his own right. He was originally known as Tsiu Marpo of Samye Monastery. However, he has placed himself under the service of Dorje Shugden as his chief minister, performing many activities in order to protect and benefit practitioners. Therefore, he stands guard at the main entrance of Dorje Shugden’s mandala. He often takes trance of qualified mediums to speak.
7. Namkar Barzin. He is the reincarnation of an old Mongolian monk and when he passed away in Phari area of Tibet, his spirit was placed as a powerful assistant of Dorje Shugden. He guards and protects buildings and great institutions especially those that benefit others. He rides on a mythical Gyaling animal that resembles a goat but with scales.
These sacred images are available on *Vajrasecrets. They are made of high quality alloy and are one of a kind. They are based on the lineage of His Holiness Panchen Rinpoche’s monastery, Tashilhunpo in Shigatse, Tibet. In fact, the iconography of these statues are based on detailed photographs taken by H. E. Tsem Rinpoche during a trip to Tashilhunpo’s protector chapel. These are based exactly as the 10th Panchen Lama’s personal collection.
Dear friends, For months we have been working on this BEAUTIFUL and meaningful mural in Kathmandu, Nepal. Please click here to enjoy the many stunning pictures of this mural: https://bit.ly/2LgOj8J
Thank you Rinpoche for this beautiful illustrated story and graphic novel of Dorje Shugden. Through this simple graphic story we can understand much better of this historical event leading to how Dorje Shugden arose as a supreme Dharma protector.
As I read this story again, it reminds me that Dharma is not something that is nice to see only. To serve a greater purpose, one must even sacrifice one’s life for the benefits of many. Thank you for this graphic novel as it helps me to remember the story line better.
This is a powerful picture of Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen, Kensur Kyabje Lati Rinpoche and the current incarnation of Trijang Rinpoche meeting together in the year 2000 when Trijang Rinpoche was 18. All three lamas are Dorje Shugden practitioners. In fact Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen was the one that first encouraged my practice of Dorje Shugden when I was 16 years old when I joined his beautiful Thubten Dhargye Ling centre in Los Angeles. I lived with Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen for 8 years before proceeding to Gaden Monastery in South India. Later Kyabje Zong Rinpoche came to our Los Angeles centre and granted sogtae (permission ceremony) to practice Dorje Shugden for life as requested by Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen. Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen had tremendous faith in Trijang Rinpoche. Kyabje Lati Rinpoche was innovative, dedicated and very much focused on bringing dharma to many. He had tremendous faith in Dorje Shugden as I had the honour to meet him many times. He would seek advice from Dorje Shugden many times via the oracle of Gaden Monastery. Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen and Kensur Kyabje Lati Rinpoche have since passed away while the current Trijang Rinpoche is a perfect lineage holder and practitioner of Dharma while he keeps Dorje Shugden as his personal protector as he has done so for many lifetimes. This is a powerful and beautiful picture of three great lamas of Buddha’s lineage and also of Gaden Monastery.
Dorje Shugden is an enlightened being and arose as a dharma protector as indicated clearly in ‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors’, written by HH the 14th Dalai Lama’s root Guru, HH Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang.
By having this illustrated story & graphic novel of Dorje Shugden, many people will learn and understand the history of Dorje Shugden especially in the area of how and why he arose as a dharma protector.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful sharing. May Dorje Shugden always helps, guides and protect the sincere practitioners from all lineages. May Lama Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden practices and teachings spread to the ten directions to benefit all sentient beings.
Dorje Shugden’s tale and origins are told in so much detail, the rise of Dorje Shugden came about under very stressful circumstances, so it is a surprise that so much details can still be passed down to us till this day.
Dorje Shugden rose at a time, outside military forces to Tibet started to exert their influence on Tibet like the Mongolian forces. Soon Tibet’s larger neighbour China also fell under the Manchus who conquered China. So it was a time of much strife.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful illustration of the story of Dorje Shugden. It had been a very useful introduction to Dorje Shugden for me and the children. So much effort has been put into dispelling the many misconceptions floating around and being perpetuated on the internet.
Tsem Rinpoche has worked very hard over the years to provide accurate and important information about Dorje Shugden to dispel the malicious disinformation spread about the Protector. It is fantastic that Rinpoche’s efforts have translated into many people such as the commenter seeing the beauty in Dorje Shugden’s practice. Also Suzy has an interesting opinion about why His Holiness banned the practice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl-4lIwxph4&t=11s
Thank you so much Rinpoche for this illustrated story and graphic novel of Dorje Shugden. It is suitable for young adults and people from all walks of life because it is easy to understand, not to mention graphically appealing.

Over 400 years ago a great and learned lama Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was famed in Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal and China for being very saintly and compassionate. He resided in his residence (Zimkhang Gongma Ladrang) in Drepung Monastery. His root guru was H.H. the Omniscient 4th Panchen Lama and his close dharma brother was the 5th Dalai Lama.
The 5th Dalai Lama and Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen had a very close and dharmic relationship and often went to receive teachings together from the 4th Panchen Lama. They were close in age. They both became very learned and well known. During this time, the Dalai Lama was enthroned as a Dharma King of Tibet. But more people went to see Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen for teachings, initiations and divinations. This made the attendants of the 5th Dalai Lama feel threatened that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s fame might usurp the power of the 5th Dalai Lama. So they had a khata forced down his throat. At that moment, Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen dissolved his psychic winds and generated the wish to be a great guardian of Buddha and Tsongkapa’s teachings. As his consciousness dissolved, he entered ‘bardo’ as a dharma protector of the highest order (jikten depey sungma). Many signs were seen throughout Lhasa at this time and the earth was said to have shaken in Lhasa. This event was already predicted to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s previous incarnation when he was one of the 8 main disciples of Lord Tsongkapa the Supreme Master and he served Tsongkapa directly by building Gaden Monastery.
When the 5th Dalai Lama heard what his scheming and power-hungry attendants had done, he was very distressed. He was very sorry Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen was murdered and dishonored as he was a great dharma master. The 5th Dalai Lama composed an apology to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen. In Lhasa, tens of thousands gathered for the cremation of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s holy body. During the cremation, the 5th Dalai Lama’s apology was read out at which flames spontaneously arose from the body of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen commencing the cremation. From the body, during cremation, a powerful whirlwind of smoke tunneled into the sky for all to see as this was an indication Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen’s consciousness has arisen as the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden. The Dharma Protector Setrap immediately recognized this new protector Dorje Shugden and ‘enthroned’ him as a powerful Dharma Protector in the realm of the Buddhas. From this, Setrap and Dorje Shugden are closely connected and very close working hand in hand always. After the cremation, the great 5th Dalai Lama built a Dorje Shugden chapel on the spot the cremation took place and named it Trode Khangsar. The 5th Dalai Lama commissioned the statue of Dorje Shugden in this chapel and had monks installed in the chapel to do continuous propitiations to Dorje Shugden. Trode Khangsar Chapel was a commemoration to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who was wronged and also a celebration of his consciousness arising as the World Peace Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.
This Trode Khangsar Chapel still exists now in Lhasa where many make pilgrimages there. It is in good condition and was recently renovated. It is over 400 years old and a testimony to the respect the Great 5th Dalai Lama had to Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen who arose as Dorje Shugden.
I have visited this holy chapel in Lhasa years back. I’ve never heard of it till I was in Lhasa and by chance, I was told about it which I was happy to visit. I could not find the place but strangely a bunch of pilgrims from Amdo told me they would show me how to get there in Lhasa.
This short video is a short clip of this holy Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa today commemorating Dorje Shugden, built by the great 5th Dalai Lama. The great 5th Dalai Lama even composed a prayer to Dorje Shugden which is still available today and we can recite to invoke the blessings, protection, and assistance of World Peace Protector Dorje Shugden.
HUM
Though unmoving from the sphere of primordial spontaneity,
With wrathful turbulent power, swifter than lightning,
Endowed with heroic courage to judge good and bad,
I invite you with faith, please come to this place!
Robes of a monk, crown adorned with rhinoceros leather hat,
Right hand holds ornate club, left holds a human heart,
Riding various mounts such as nagas and garudas,
Who subdues the mamos of the charnel grounds, praise to you!
Samaya substances, offerings and torma, outer, inner and secret,
Favourite visual offerings and various objects are arranged.
Although, previously, my wishes were a bit dense,
Do not stop your powerful apparitions, I reveal and confess!
Now respectfully praising with body, speech, and mind,
For us, the masters, disciples, benefactors and entourages,
Provide the good and avert the bad!
Bring increase like the waxing moon in spiritual and temporal realms!
Moreover, swiftly accomplishing all wishes,
According to our prayers, bestow the supreme effortlessly!
And like the jewel that bestows all wishes,
Always protect us with the Three Jewels!
5 things I learned from the graphic Novel
– Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen came from illustrious incarnation line of great scholar and yogi with attainments
– During one of his previous incarnations, as Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, he promised to arise as uncommon protector to protect Lama Tsongkhapa’s teaching
– Out of compassion and to fulfill his promise, Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen allowed himself to be killed
– Because the intent of Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen’s killer is not good, and for the heavy karma of killing a high lama, there were many calamities in the region after Tulku Drakpa Gyaltsen was killed
– Many high lamas including Dalai Lama could not destroyed Dorje Shugden with various pujas. This is a proof that DS is enlightened.
“If the Dalai Lama, if His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by Dorje Shugden, then we might as well not practice Buddhism anymore. If His Holiness the Dalai Lama can have his life shortened by a so-called evil spirit, any evil spirit, then can he be Avalokiteshvara? So on one hand you say, we say, I say, everybody says, he is Avalokiteshvara; on the other hand you’re saying that he can harmed by an evil spirit… Which one is it? Can he harmed by an evil spirit or is he Avalokiteshvara? Do you think Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri, Vajrapani, Tara all take refuge in something else to protect themselves from Dorje Shugden? How illogical is that? How illogical of people to say His Holiness the Dalai Lama can be harmed by an evil spirit, any evil spirit or “Dorje Shugden” evil spirit. How is that possible?” – Tsem Tulku Rinpoche
I remember my Grandma giving me this graphic novel to read. 🙂 It was a great book, although, at that time, I didn’t fully understand it. Now that I know a little more about Dorje Shugden and his lineage, when I went back to reread the book, I found it much more interesting than the last time. 🙂 Everything about this lineage is very interesting. And I find it fun to memorise the Four Drakpa’s :-). Pancen Sonam Drakpa, Tulku Drakpa Geltsyen, … … well, I’ve forgotten two. ^^;
But I will go back and memorise them again. And in chronological order too. 🙂
This is a fascinating story indeed. This story really shows how holy and powerful the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden is. I don’t see any reason there for The Dalai Lama and the CTA to banned Dorje Shugden’s practice. It is so pure and beautiful. Dorje Shugden practices are known throughout the whole entire world. How is it able for Dorje Shugden to be an “evil spirit” when he has taken so many reincarnations and most of his reincarnations are widely known throughout Tibet, China, Nepal and India. How can Dorje Shugden be an evil spirit event when he has been recognized as an enlightened dharma protector by the 5th Dalai Lama? I have been practicing Dorje Shugden for most of my life and I can’t find anything wrong with practicing Dorje Shugden, instead he has helped me, my family and friends in many ways. I totally believe that Dorje Shugden is a rea Dharma protector and he is not an evil spirit. No matter what other people say about Dorje Shugden, I will always continue to believe in him even after my death.
I love this! I have a copy of the graphic novel as well. When i was younger and had little knowledge about Dorje Shugden, i read the graphic novel. It is really a fantastic way for children and young adults to learn about Dorje Shugden. The pictures and the way it looks like a comic book, makes it appealing to everyone, especially the younger age groups. It would make them want to read on as there are more pictures! haha.
But what is most important is that people learn from the novel. Its not only fun to read but also fun to learn about Dorje Shugen. The message and story of Dorje Shugden is very well explained in the graphic novel and the language is also very easy for children to understand. It is a very smart way of spreading awareness of Dorje Shugden. I hope that many buy the graphic novel. Or at least come here to read it online.
Thank you Rinpoche for both the comic and the video with all of us here on the blog.
It is just such a great honour to be able to read the full story of Dorje Shugden. How has the previous lives of Dorje Shugden is like and how he manifested to be who he is. It is interesting to me that Manjushri manifested as a student of Shakyamuni’s time and also during Lord Tsongkhapa’s time.
From the actions that Dulzin Drapkpa Gyeltsen knowing that the dove that flew in during Tsongkhapa’s teachings, it has already shown the clairvoyance of this great master. I think it is really cool that the dove later appeared as Nechung in the form of a young boy when Dulzin Drakpa Gyeltsen confronted the dove.
From the fire puja not being able to subdue Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen it shows that Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen is not a evil spirit or even a spirit. Instead, he has already manifested to become a protector. Through the wrath that was manifested, it has aided him to become a dhrama protector.
with that, it shows that there is no wrong in taking refuge in Dorje Shugden or even practicing Dorje Shugden. Reason being that this great protector has agreed to become a uncommon protector of our times to help liberate us.
Today, I’ve finished reading the whole text. I never knew much of Dorje Shugden, but now I have seen the litht. As the famous picture of Aleister Crowley & the Lamp of Wisdom. I got a New Kadampa Tradition initiation of Yhe Tsongkhapa, I barely could gather the money to pay the fee & buy the offerings, but I have always loved Buddhism so much that I did it whole heartedly by the then whole Mexico’s director. Unfortunately, that monk was feeling isolated from the central, not receiving feedback from England & asked to leave Mexico, seems he was discharged as a monk, he asked to become monk again, but Geshelah seems to have denied him such privilege. Then a very brilliant swiss lady took his post, she could speak 5 languages, had a perfect exposition even in Spanish & I met her here in Mazatlán, México at my friend the 72-year-old Kkadampa nun Ani Kelsang Khachö. Also got initiations of Hayagriva by the Dalai Lama ambassors here in town plus one or two by a Nepalese monk also (he said “The Dalai Lama doesn’t like Dorje Shugden”.
Regards, Guillermo Soelter Mora.
Post Stamp.-I pray to the the West protector “Archangel Michael & Kuan Yin” for Dorje Shugden affair to be solved.
Thank you so very much to everyone involved in this project. It saved me some money right now to have it free. I still want the book though…
This is Tsem Rinpoche’s compassion, allowing us to view this book freely… Who else makes books and then allows them to be published FOR FREE.
It makes me really feel like any money you DO give to Tsem Rinpoche or Kechara will be well spent. The proof is right here. There are a lot of people out there who don’t even have 8 dollars for a book, yet at the same time will benefit much from reading it. Here it is.
That MEANS something, you know? It does to me. Rinpoche knows (or he does now) I’m a cheapskate but he still takes care of me. I never really have to spend a dime on Dharma from Kechara. I try to, though, because that’s how laypeople collect merits. Im never forced to. Never.
This comic book is really a jewel to those who’s interested in Dorje Shugden. It is the fastest and most interesting way to learn about Dorje Shugden. From young until old also easy to read and understand. I love it because of the colourful illustrations. Not only that, it came from a very reliable recourses based on ‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors’ which is a whole volume of text solely devoted to the history and practice of Dorje Shugden written by His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche.
H.H. Trijang Rinpoche even predicted there will be ‘obstacles’ to the growth of Dorje Shugden in the future after he has passed. When that time comes he has penned down accurate information on this supreme protector so we can all refer to this text. He composed this text for those to learn more on Dorje Shugden. I do hope more and more people will find the truth of Dorje Shugden who is the true protector who has benefited countless people. Please do not discriminate those who love Dorje Shugden and follow the practice. I solute those who hold on to the practice and go all the way despite of all the hardship and hurtful experience that they faced due to the ban. My prayers with them always. I sincerely request HHDL to remove the ban.
“World Peace Buddha and Protector Gyelchen Dorje Shugden” (?) If there ever is a protector, we need it now. Seriously, the above photo of HH Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche & Roman Catholic Pope meeting help connect the dots I’ve been looking for, thanks. Possibly a initial clue as to why Shugden practice was banned considering Vatican in Rome, is the seat of global power & control. Shugden practices doesn’t comply with their beliefs & agenda, it’s the opposite.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this Dorje Shugden comic based on H.H. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors”.
H.H. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s great work detailing the events Dorje Shugden arose as a Dharma Protector to protect the holy teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa and specifically of the correct view on emptiness as taught by Nagarjuna.
This comic and the video above will definitely help to clear away doubts and restore faith on Dorje Shugden as an enlightened Dharma Protector. Many more people will benefit from this holy practice.
May this be the cause for the conciliation between H.H. Dalai Lama’s side and the Shugden’s followers.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing The Dorje Shugden Story with us.We are very fortunate to be given the opportunity to understand the history and the reason for the rise of Dorje Shugden as a protector of our time.
We are very fortunate that H.H. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche are so generous to preserve the lineage and the essence of the practice .In order to share it with us through “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors”.
May all those who have a chance to see this illustrated story of Dorje Shugden gain a better insight into the practice and the lineage of this Enlighten Dharma Protector. May the tibetan buddhist community be clear of all the misunderstanding in the past about this Dharma Protector and lift the ban for DORJE SHUGDEN…….
Thank you Rinpoche for the sharing the lineage & history of Dorje Shugden. The illustration make one easy to understand especially for the young one.
Knowing the background of Dorje Shugden which is from “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors” composed by Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, I have no doubt for the authenticity from our lineage master.
It’s very informative and make sense that Dorje Shugden is an enlightened protector as if he’s a spirit he would be subdued or killed during the fire Puja. This point is unarguable.
May more people read up and understand better of this lineage protector.
Thank You for sharing this wonderful graphic novel and illustrated story about Dorje Shugden. It is amazing what Dorje Shugden had to endure to become a Dharma Protector to help all of us.
How kind of H.H. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche to write down the practice, lineage, rituals, mandalas, meditations, history and benefits of Dorje Shugden in “Music Delighting, The Ocean of Protectors”.
I cannot imagine how a such a holy lama was killed due to jealousy and his future incarnations were outlawed, and his ladrang confiscated. All records of Him and His writings were destroyed. And many lamas suffered the same fate. May this never happen again!
These wonderful illustrations narrating the history and background of Dorje Shugden were very well written with excellent quality in its artwork and presentation. It would enrich and benefit many people globally with its rich information by providing a good platform to their dharma path. Thank you Rinpoche for posting it here and thanks to the unsung owner(s) who gave their permission
A BIG thank you to Rinpoche and the people who allowed this to be shared with people around the world.
But most of all, a BIGGER thank you to Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche for writing ‘Music Delighting The Ocean of Protectors’ with such accurate information for without this we and the future generations will not be able to understand the whole story.
The illustrated story practically sum up quite a lot of information for new people and especially children who love to watch stories rather than reading. I really do hope that this will bring much clearer picture for the people who have wrong views of Dorje Shugden.
May the misunderstanding and ban be lifted ASAP.
May Dorje Shugden be recognized officially by His Holiness Dalai Lama as the protector of our time.
Wow, this graphic novel is a quick and easy way to learn about the story of Dorje Shugden. The illustration story is also an interaction method of learning. Thank you Rinpoche for sharing them on Rinpoche’s blog. It is easy to share Dorje Shugden’s story with people, even young individuals, using this material.
Personally, it is awesome to read about all the renowned Dorje Shugden Lamas of the Gelugpa lineage whose work has caused the Dharma to flourish outside of Tibet today. These Lama’s who practice Dorje Shugden are the most illustrious of our time. In fact, their reincarnations have all returned to continue turning the wheel of Dharma. This shows that Dorje Shugden is practiced by high Lamas over several lifetimes, which in turn means that the practice is one that has a track record of tangible and accountable benefits.
Another factor that stands out is that Dorje Shugden is a only Protector i know of that especially arose from a High Lama to become a Protector. In fact, a lot of effort was put into the manifestation of Dorje Shugden from the lifetime of Dultzin Dragpa Gyeltsen. Unlike Dorje Shugden, other protectors either arose from unenlightened beings that were tamed by Guru Rinpoche to protect the Dharma or are emanation of enlightened Buddhas, e.g. Setrap is the emanation of Amitabha. If all the great masters and “servants” of Dharma would plot to create the cause for DOrje Shugden to manifest, Dorje Shugden is an extremely special and important Dharma protector.
This illustrated story of Lord Dorje Shugden video and graphic novel is profound and easy understanding. I personal like the comic,i hope at future can make the comic in 3D movie, i believe many people will like at watch it again and again.
Thank you Rinpoche and who involve creating this beautiful comic book and video sharing to many friends in the world.I had more understand and clear about Dorje shugden lineage, ritual and how his practice has passed down from Tagphu Pemavajra who received the practice from Dorje Shugden directly and pass down to Kyabje Pabongka Dorje Chang and Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang who composed “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors”.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful comic of Dorje Shugden. It is very nicely illustrated and makes us easy to remember the story of Protector Dorje Shugden. Since this comic is based on “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors” by Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, I will have no doubt on its accuracy. On the other hand, it is very sad to know that the then Government of feudal Tibet had destroyed all records and written works. But we are very lucky to have Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche to preserve the practice of Protector Dorje Shugden and many high lama to spread this very beneficial practice around the world. Thank you Rinpoche.
This is a beautifully illustrated story of Lord Dorje Shugden which is easy to understand and shows clearly the lineage and authenticity of Dorje Shudgen. It also shows how faultless this authentic practise has been carried down to us of this present time. The Gurus are faultless as are the dharma they taught, therefore their practise of Dorje Shugden would be faultless too. Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
The producer of the video has put in much research and thoughts into producing it. The lineage and history is all ‘packed’ into a 29min video. One of the things I appreciate most about the video is that although it is produced in the West (judging from the narration), it has Chinese subtitle too that will benefit the people in China as the practice of Dorje Shugden is very popular in mainland China.
As I watched the concise video again, it’s baffling why the anti Dorje Shugden people are still in denial and creating so much animosity towards the practitioners when the history and lineage is undisputed. I have heard repeatedly from critics saying that Dorje Shugden practice shortens the Dalai Lama’s life. Even in the most simplistic thinking (without going back to the history), how can Chenresig on earth (as the Dalai Lama is often referred to as) be affected by an evil spirit? And even IF Dorje Shugden is an evil spirit, then why can’t the great masters in the monastery and monks do a ritual to dispel the spirit? So to me, it all just doesn’t make sense.
The conflict on Dorje Shugden practice has gone beyond just politics and denying practitioners of religious freedom. It has escalated to the stage where practitioners are denied of even basic human rights imposed and inflicted by those from the anti Dorje Shugden side resulting in families and friends breaking up, children being denied of entry to schools, the sick denied of medical facilities, etc etc. It is so sad to see that something as pure as a Buddhist practice can become so painful for the sincere practitioners.
May many more be educated and enlightened by this video and comic and bring an end to the conflict soon. Thank you Rinpoche for always bringing the Truth to all sentient beings in ways that the mass can relate too. This is one of the many qualities of Dorje Shugden as symbolised by his curved sword: using skillful methods in helping those drowning in the ocean of samsara.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this graphic novel that tells so clearly the story of how Dorje Shugden arose as a Supramundane Protector and of the illustrious Lineage of incarnations of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen from whom Dorje Shugden arose. The graphic novel is based on the historical account as given by Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche in “Music delighting the Ocean of Protectors” .
This gives all readers the blessed opportunity to learn from an authentic source the whole story of how and why Dorje Shugden arose to serve specifically the needs of this degenerate age – to protect the profound wisdom teachings of Je Tsonghkhapa -based on Nagarjuna’s unerring Middle View of Emptiness, the correct view. The illustrated story allows even children to understand the story of Dorje Shugden.
This illustrated story of Dorje Shugden is based on H.H. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors”. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s work is very useful to understand and appreciate the reasons Dorje Shugden arose as a Protector. It will help one to clear any doubts regarding this holy and powerful protector practice.
Thank You Rinpoche for the explanation the essence of ‘Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors’, which is very important to understand the history where Dharmapala Dorje Shugden arose as Dharma Protector.
The illustration and storyline is very well created, and very easy to understand the storyline and also its content. It is suitable for all age group, especially children will like it very much, as the child-Nicholas character related to them very well, it also instill Dharma and positive attribute to the children.
This is so profound to be able to believe and have trust in Dorje Shugden and no one can deny after having gone through it. Thank you so much rinpoche for tirelessly working for dispelling the traces of doubts of many people and hope no further crisis would arise. many teaching reach far as possible and may people understand it and have a peaceful practice ever.
Thank you rinpoche, with folded hands, _/\_

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this graphic novel of Protector Dorje Shugden. I appreciate the effort put in by the editor, illustrator and writer to make this into pictorial format that easy to understand, but with concise and compact information based on HH Trijang Rinpoche’s great work “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protector”.
From this pictorial novel people know better how Dorje Shugden arose as a great world peace protector. With understanding we know better about someone or something, then confusion and misinformation or misunderstanding will be lessen.
This is something not only suitable for younger children to read, it even delightful to read and easy to grab the information and have understanding about the history and how Dorje Shugden come about, his role in preserving the precious teachings of Je Tsongkhapa. I love the graphic novel, thank you.
This graphic novel is so nicely presented. It is easy to understand as the explanation is clear and the graphics are nice. It is ideal even for children and will help to clear doubts of many people as it is based on authentic source; from H.H. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche’s “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protectors”.

Living with my wife, whose world is meticulously painted with the hues of OCD, is a journey that intertwines the essence of love with the complexities of the human mind. Her relentless pursuit of cleanliness and order, transforming even the most negligible corner into a testament of organization, often dances on the fine line between admiration and frustration. The sight of her steering clear from trash bins as if they were labyrinths of chaos, serves as a poignant reminder of the battles she fights within. Yet, it’s through these very battles that I’ve learned the profound language of patience and the unspoken strength of support. Therapy, in its gentle embrace, has been a beacon of light for her, guiding her through the stormy seas of OCD. It has not only offered her solace but has also unveiled the strength of her spirit, teaching us both the beauty of resilience. As she journeys through the pathways of healing, I stand by her, a testament to the power of love and the enduring promise of hope. Together, we navigate the complexities of her world, discovering that within the challenges lie opportunities for growth, understanding, and an unbreakable bond. https://www.mindfullyaliveonline.com/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-ocd/
Venerable Ajahn Chah was a Thai Buddhist teacher of the Buddhadhamma and a founder of two major monasteries in the Thai Forest Tradition. Well respected and loved as a man of great wisdom, he was also instrumental in establishing Theravada Buddhism in the West. Interesting life story, how he chose to leave the settled monastic life and became a wandering ascetic. Walking across Thailand, lived in forests, caves and cremation grounds while learning from the meditation monks of the Forest of various monasteries. He wandered through the countryside in quest of quiet and secluded places for developing meditation. He even lived in tiger and cobra infested jungles, using reflections on death to penetrate to the true meaning of life. After years of wandering, Venerable Ajahn Chah established a monastery where he taught simple, practice-based form of meditation, and attracted a numerous of students including western foreigners. He was one of the greatest Dhamma teachers of the modern era. His wise teachings have continued to guide thousands of people along the path of Dharma. Venerable Ajahn Chah’s teachings of the Thai Forest Tradition gradually spread across all over the world. Several of Ajahn Chah’s Western students have since established monasteries throughout the world. Just in Thailand itself, there are more than 300 branch monasteries in Ajahn Chah’s tradition. Ven erable Ajahn Chah used his ill health as a teaching point, emphasizing that it was a living example of the impermanence of all things and reminded people to endeavour to find a true refuge within themselves. The legacy of Venerable Ajahn Chah’s teachings and legacy continues into the modern age.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing.
Wonderful blog written on the practice of Kalarupa for us to understand better. As an emanation of Manjushri, Kalarupa’s practice helps us to destroy ignorance and to develop wisdom overcoming our anger and suffering . Awesome Kalarupa manifested in multiple forms to help sentient beings who personifies enlightenment by the conquest of anger. Kalarupa also regard as one of the three main Dharma protectors of the Gelugpa is extremely fierce and ugly, and tames all kinds of spiritual ugliness. The fierceness of his iconography teaches us to remind ourselves that all the causes and effects of anger arising from ignorance are dreadful and distorted.
Thank you Rinpoche and Pastor Antionette for this detailed sharing,
Nepal is a very spiritual country, having a huge Dorje Shugden mural in Kathmandu, is indeed a big achievement for Kechara. Located on Charkhal Road in Dilli Bazaar, the mural can be found midway between our two Dorje Shugden chapels which are in Putalisadak and Chabahil. It is also very close to one of Kathmandu’s largest shopping malls. Many locals , tourist will be able to connect them to a powerful deity that is so closely associated with their culture. Well the mural not only beautiful but also full of symbolism and everyone merely by seeing it is blessed. Thanks to those talented artists and generous sponsors making it a success.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.
All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on. Letting go helps us to live in a more peaceful state of mind and helps restore our balance. A reminder for us all to go of attachment and meditating on impermanence and emptiness. We are to relinquish the domination of our ego and its habits to transform ourselves. A great reminder not to waste our previous life.
Quoted Ceasing to do evil, Cultivating the good, Purifying the heart .
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing such a meaningful teachings with folded hands.

We are members of the Buddhist Temple in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur and we have been issued membership by the president (DATUK YIP KUM FOOK), we are very sad because we are the foundation of this Temple
Now we can know who is always messing with people, and he always cheats money and women, he even uses Buddhism to find money.
Also, need to be careful with his brother-in-law (Simon Low Kok Meng) because he is a spy (CID) for DATUK YIP KUM FOOK and we will write some letters to AGONG SULTAN IBRAHIM IBN ALMARHUM SULTAN ISKANDAR as soon as possible.
The matriarchal cultures of the grandmothers have specific symbolism of animism shamanism, such as the horse, especially the blue horse, and the deer. These are two main symbols of a shaman woman and you can find them in many cultural folk lore, especially the Russian, Slavic, Siberian, Nordic, Finland, and Norway. It’s nice to see the Matriarchal Shaman Animism diety represented in Chinese.
An inspiring act of a selfless Lama feeding strays whether its night or day. Truly an example for us all to feed those lonely strays . Yes I do agree compassion starts with feeding strays. Reading this blog again to refresh myself to do more. Strays animals generally lead a life of poor welfare on the street. Feeding strays is a compassionate act.
Thank you Rinpoche and Anila for this sharing.
nteresting revisit this blog again as truly inspiring reading over and over again . There’s so many inspiring nuns and female practitioner coming from different back ground, leading a more spiritual life. They are practitioners dedicated their life to religious observance and their path is illuminated by the light of compassion. Going against all odds to become one. Their devotion radiates like a thousand stars in the night sky. Here at Kechara Forest Retreat, Bentong Pahang we too have inspiring practitioners .
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing.
H E Tsem Rinpoche’s Sungbum project aim to preserve the teachings and practices that have been passed from teacher to disciple in an unbroken line beginning with Lama Tsongkhapa himself . History has taught us the importance of preserving Buddha’s stainless teachings. Its important to preserve and safeguard the Buddhist tradition for future generations.
Tsem Rinpoche is a clear and effective teacher where his stories and teachings are endlessly entertaining and inspiring. The preservation is very much needed. We are so fortunate given a chance to be involved in such a meritorious project .
Thank you.
Demons are disembodied spirits, supernatural being or spirit and unseen beings. We know they do exist and I believe they do. They have no physical form to them whatsoever. Demons do definitely exist. They are intelligent beings who are evil malicious spirits and are all dangerous entities. Valak is not to be summoned capriciously by anyone as they are dangerous beings when we invoke them having to face a heavy consequence. There are spiritual practices that we can ask for help a ritual of the wrathful Manjushri in the form of Trakze. Having a doing the practice daily without fail, consistently, as this Trakze practice has been proven to be efficacious to break the hold the Valak and other spirits. All thanks to our Guru bringing this practice to Kechara Forest Retreat, Bentong Malaysia.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful sharing for us to understand better.
Wow ,reading all these powerful quotes had me realised much better of giving even I have little. May H E Tsem Rinpoche’s sincere advice to reach the far shore of liberation to everyone reading this blog. The most truly generous people are those who give silently without asking any in return. There is no exercise better than reaching and lifting people up. A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal. Well creating and lighting for others we naturally light our own way. Helping others especially those unfortunate ones, make us feel more positive about our own circumstances.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing all these powerful quotes.
I have tried mine and my friend’s horoscope and it results same in both of our case, and not just that I have tried this on various friends and this horoscope is showing same for maximum date of birth, I think this is a bug.

Dear everyone... This is a good condensed talk I gave on Guru Yoga of Tsongkapa. This is the one you should share with others when they are interested in a not too lengthy explanation. It is the perfect practice for everyone who wants simplicity yet effective blessings. You can share this with more people, it will be good.
"If you say you don't have money to help a animal shelter, why then do you have money to buy meat?"
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Eating animals is not our God-given right, but being kind to them is."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"What makes us good humans is not how we abuse animals, but how much we allow them to live and be happy freely."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"We need another and wiser and perhaps a more mythical concept of animals.... We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complex than ours they moved finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."
~ Henry Beston, The Outermost House
"Not eating animals is only unnatural when we are not used to it."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES
"We may encounter defeat, but we must not be defeated."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"What you are today, is the choice you made yesterday."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"You think you can choose your life? What an ego trip!"
~ Lama Yeshe
"If TODAY you are dissatisfied, you must make the changes to create different results for TOMORROW."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
SPIRITUAL QUOTES
“Meditating on Dorje Shugden while reciting his mantra will open the gateways to higher dimensions, blessings and protection.”
~ Tsem Rinpoche
“If one does the recitation of the Lama Tsongkhapa guru yoga prayer for even one month using one of the visualizations for great or clear or quick wisdom, one will definitely see development of that wisdom. It is proved by experience. There is no doubt that by doing the Lama Tsongkhapa guru yoga practice one can meet Lama Tsongkhapa’s teachings from life to life. And furthermore, it gives one the opportunity to be born in the pure realm of Lama Tsongkhapa, Tushita, whenever death happens.”
~ Pabongkha Rinpoche
"I was 18 years old in 1983. That was a very special year as I met His Holiness Kyabje Zong Rinpoche and received innumerable precious teachings and empowerments from Him at Thubten Dhargye Ling Centre in Los Angeles, California. It was the best time of my life. A time that seems so magical and surreal to me. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche is Heruka Buddha and I met Heruka."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"If being me offends you, maybe I'm not the problem."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Never abandon your spiritual teacher no matter how many inner obstacles you need to overcome."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Actions to force something to be permanent makes all the karmas arise."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"The dharma is not easy to listen to… because some people take it as criticism. But Dharma should not be just feel good only for the moment but for deeper contemplations."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Whether we do work and suffer but for others or we do work and suffer for ourselves, either way we have to suffer. That is the nature of samsara. So let us suffer for others and then suffering has meaning."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Those who really want the dharma to grow within themselves and to grow for others should never fear hard work, timing, difficulties, struggles, disappointments because it is for a good cause. Working for Dharma is not a prison or work, but it is purely spiritual practice. It is purely collection of merit and purification. Actually not doing dharma work is the real prison."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"His Holiness Zong Rinpoche stressed the need to continue to practice even when we come up against obstacles, and that we should continually review our progress. He stated that a happy, luxurious life was like a good dream, and that obstacles and difficulties were like a bad dream. We should give them no significance, but simply carry on working towards real, everlasting happiness."
~ Ngala ’ö-Dzin Tridral
"Things in samsara always go wrong. That's its nature. Don't be surprised."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Knowledge never quenches the thirst, only application."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
LIFE QUOTES
"I pity men who occupy themselves exclusively with the transitory in things and lose themselves in the study of what is perishable, since we are here for this very end-that we may make the perishable imperishable, which we can do only after we have learned how to approach both."
~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
"Money amplifies negative characteristics and that can cause problems.
To walk away from that was actually very easy. I didn't even consider it."
~ Angeline Francis Khoo
"I shall not commit the fashionable stupidity of regarding everything I cannot explain as a fraud."
~ Carl Jung
"There is a devil there is no doubt, but is he trying to get into us or trying to get out?"
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"If you love someone, show it by being honest, respectful & honorable with them."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."
~ Henry David Thoreau
"If I can just be the way I am & you the way you are & we accept each other, world peace is near."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"I am Asian, you are some other beautiful color. Together we make diversity so beautiful."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"It's amazing how some people have never met me or know who I am, but based on a few things they read here & there & rumours, they have formulated a new personality for me & all the things I've never done they passionately speak about....I find it funny and entertaining now. I guess we can't spend our lives fighting rumours...we just have to work hard & then rumours get proven wrong on it's own as a by product. No point explaining repeatedly. Just do our work & show results!!"
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"There's a difference between patience and laziness. Patience comes from respect while laziness from disrespect of others."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Although outwardly we have so much, we have so many conveniences, inwardly we have become more unhappy, so, acquisition is not the secret to happiness. The more we get, the more we have, the more unhappy we become."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Before we experience any pain, we already had a fixed view of how things should be. When the experience we encounter contradicts our views, then the pain arises. The pain arises due to our fixed views not so much the experience itself. So the secret is changing the views. Re-educating ourselves on our views."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"You know since very young, for better or worse, I always did the things that others told me not to do. I wasn't really good at following the rules. Even now with how I share Dharma and my practice, I just do it the way I think it should be done but I do it sincerely. Not what others tell me what I can and can't do."
~ Tsem Rinpoche
"Love me or hate me, both are in my favor... If you love me, I'll always be in your heart... If you hate me, I'll always be in your mind."
~ William Shakespeare
"One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous or honest."
~ Maya Angelou
Devotional Songs
Sung by Mary Fewel Tulin, these mystical songs in praise of the guru originate from the Sikh tradition. Yet, they are applicable to all traditions for those who want to venerate their guru.
The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them.
That's the business model.
How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying...
We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood.

Anonymous asked:1: how can cleaning be turned into meditation?
2: in Chinese tradition, when someone passes away, there are these blankets with like Buddhas' names on it, Buddhist symbols, etc. What happens when they are cremated, what should we do so it isn't disrespectful to burn the cover/blanket?
Thank you ♡pastor answered:Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for your questions.
In regards to your first question, here is a part of Tsem Rinpoche's teaching (https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/how-to-purify-your-karma-in-kechara-forest-retreat.html):
"As I have shared before, during the Buddha’s time, he had a student who was not very intelligent, an old monk. And when this old monk memorised the first word, when he got to the second word, he forgot the first word. When he went back to the first word, he forgot the second word. And he’d yo-yo back and forth like that. And he was very frustrated so he asked the Buddha what he could do because he was having such a hard time memorising and understanding the Dharma due to his very, very, very, poor memory. And so the Buddha said, “Visualise a temple, the shoes of the monks, the floor, the surrounding area, the garden, the trees and all that as your mind. And all the leaves that have fallen as your karma, and your kleshas, your obstructions, your obstacles. Think of all the dirt, think of all the dust, as your kleshas and your obstructions and your negative karma, and every day clean it. And recite this DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG, DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG, DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG. Remove my defilements, remove its leftovers. Remove my defilements, remove the leftovers, the stains.. So, to recite that every day carefully and to visualise it carefully and do that.”
So when you are cleaning, you visualise that you are cleaning the defilements from your mind, you can recite "DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG, DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG, DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG." or "Remove my defilements, remove its leftovers." Or you can recite mantras of purification such as Vajrasattva.
In regards to your second question: from the Tibetan Buddhist viewpoints you would not burn mantras or images of or associated with the Three Jewels. However, the specific mantras on the blanket, may be for this specific purpose. We wouldn't be able to give you a definitive answers as we would need to know the specific mantras, prayers, images on the blanket.
Hope this helps. Thank you.

Jason asked:Continuing from the previous answer, how do we liberate ourselves from samsara if it’s impossible to not create further karma while existing in samsara? If we create karma just be existing, that means that we will keep reincarnating over and over again so it seems like we’re stuck in the cycle pastor answered:Dear Jason,
You've asked a very interesting follow-up question. Generally speaking, yes if you are in samsara, then you are always creating more karma. That's why the goal of Buddhists is to be liberated from samsara. The Buddha and other enlightened beings achieved this and the practice of Dharma itself is geared towards achieving this.
I'll try to explain it here, hopefully I can do so in such a short space. So, normally there is no way out of samsara, but when you practice the Dharma there is. Remember in my previous reply to you, I mentioned that there are differing levels of severity of karma? Some are heavier, some lighter, etc. When practising the Dharma, you reduce the amount of karma that you produce. When you have less effects of karma, due to less negative karma itself, you can focus more on the spiritual practices that lead to liberation.
I'll take the examples of the Refuge vows. There are 10 of them, split into three categories related to the body, speech and mind. First is the body, which includes to abstain form killing, as killing creates negative karma. The in the speech section, it includes to abstain from lying. This is harder to do. What is easier - to abstain from killing another human being, or lying to another person. The easier one is not to kill. Hence, you train yourself in this manner, working from those actions that are easiest to avoid, working up to those that are harder. For example in the mind section, one of the vows is not to covet something that another person has. But this is harder to do than either not lying or not killing.
In other words, in our spiritual practice, we reduce the karma that we create though the actions of our body, speech and mind. Since we have less karma, we suffer less. And then finally, we are get to really subtle levels of karma, which are like residue in our mindstreams. But it's still there. In order to get out of samsara, you need to realise what we call emptiness (which is way to complicated to talk about here). In other words, the very path of the Dharma is to reduce the karma we create, starting with the easiest and working up to the hardest, which is where it becomes the easiest to understand emptiness.
This who journey is a process, that's why teachings such as the Lamrim are indesipensible as it shows us the actual way to practice. Normally, we are stuck in Samsara. But when we practice the Dharma and ultimately realise emptiness (there are many, many steps in between) we are able to get out of samsara completely. This may sound confusing, which is why in Buddhism study, understand and practice is very important.

Rojal Poudel asked:How can you deepen your spiritual progress while sleeping? I heard some people can go to pure lands and get teachings directly from Buddha’s, Bodhisattva’s, and Dharma Protecters. Are these possible from Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection?pastor answered:Dear Rojal,
Thank you for your questions. It's always nice to see you here wanting to learn more.
Yes it is definitely possible to deepen your practice in your sleep. This is done during practice of Highest Yoga Tantra, after receiving initiation and progressed along generation stage practice. This would obviously include everything before receiving such iniation such as having a basis and grounding in the Three Principle Aspects of the Path and the Lamrim teachings. In this practice you are able to use sleep to engage in meditation. This would need you to be able to lucid dream before hand.
The ability to lucid dream itself can be developed a number of ways, but the most common is single-pointed mediation concentration during waking life. This is also known as Shamatha meditation. But in this case, the object of your meditation should be a mental one, rather than a physical one. The best would be a visualisation of the Buddha. All of this is outlined in the Lamrim teachings in the section on developing concentration.
In terms of Astral Travel, yes it is definitely possible, and again there are different methods to go about this. Again this should be done only after having received the appropriate intiations and teachings from your guru. However, there are quite a few dangers involved with this. As Tsem Rinpoche mentioned before, the two main ones is that your consciousness is not able to return to your body and two that a spirit can take possession of your body if your protection is not strong and you have not invoked a Dharma protector to help with protection aspects.
Another thing about astral travel, is that even if learn how to do it, it is not necessary that you can actually visit pure lands or receive teachings, etc. This is because, to do this, would require a lot of merit. So there are many things and practices to develop merit before you should engage in it. Often times, people who claim that they have received teachings or visited purelands, actually haven't though they may think that they did. It could simply be a projection of one's mind and in some serious cases perhaps even due to spirits mascarading.
If you would like to learn lucid dreaming, please look into the teachings of single-pointed concentration normally. The ability of lucid dreaming comes naturally for those who progress in their shamatha meditation. As for astral travel practices, I would advise not to engage in such practices unless you receive the appropriate initiations, teachings from and under the strict supervision of a qualified guru. Hope this helps.

Rojal Poudel asked:I am about to leave everything behind. I am tired of this life where I do the same thing everyday. I see everything but dharma as an illusion. I want to attain some sort of realization so that I can benefit other sentient beings. I am very inspired by the story of Milarepa, who gave up everything to learn dharma. Even the Buddha gave up comfort and luxury in search for this supreme truth. I also want to follow the Please tell me what I should do.pastor answered:Dear Rojal,
We can understand that you feel this way, and seeing the illusion of life should definitely motivate us to want to achieve something more spiritual. In the past when people asked Tsem Rinpoche the same question, he used to tell people a couple of things:
> The first is that there are two methods to deal with our spiritual path. The first is to physically renounce everything and go into the wilderness, like Buddha Shakyamuni and Milarepa did. To cut yourself from everyone and everything and meditate continuously for years until you achieve realisation. But this is very hard to do in our day and age. We still need to have contact with people, there are the necessities of life to think about. Rinpoche said we need to think about things from a practice angle also. It takes a very great level of practitioner with an immense store of merit to be able to do this successfully.
> The second method is to keep living within our a community and use them as a support for the transformation of the mind and spiritual progress. For example, that it why we have monasteries and nunneries, or Dharma centres and organisations to help with spiritual practice. This method is more measured, but you can still gain the same results. This is the more practical method. Especially according to the Mahayana path of practice, Bodhisattvas need to practice certain qualities in our minds and we progress towards enlightenment. Such qualities include the Six Perfections, but if we are not around others, how do we practice them? In order to practice generosity, we need others to be generous towards. In order to practice patience, we need others to be patient towards. In order to practice morality and ethics, we need to be in situations to be able to practice our vows. Enlightened beings like Buddha and Milarepa were able to do all of this in their minds during meditation but as mentioned before they were already high level pracitioners with immense merit. For example, Buddha Shakyamuni had three countless aeons of consistent practice life time after life time until his achieved enlightenment.
> Another thing that Rinpoche shared, that while understanding the drawbacks of life and the benefits of becoming enlightened, a lot of the time what happens these days is that it is mixed up with emotion due to the challenges of life. People are looking for an escape, but not an escape from samsara into enlightenment, but simple an escape from their current problems. The need for escape, known as renunciation in Buddhism, is not to simply escape samsara, but developed in a certain way through contemplation and meditation. When we have such feelings, we should analyse them to see if they are in accord with the teachings and the methods of developing true renunciation. Many people also have a unrealistic way of thinking about physical renunciation and the spiritual path in general. Most people think it is easy, but it is not, is difficult because we need to deal with our minds, our emotions, our traumas, etc, from countless lives. If we don't have a firm foundation in Dharma practice and transformation before we attempt something like Buddha Shakyamuni or Milarepa, we will give up after a while because we find it too hard. And perhaps give up spiritual practice because the path did not actually match our expectations. So the key is to be as realistic as possible about our spiritual path.
So our advice, rather than give up everything, as you may have family or other responsibilities, is to use your current situation to transform your mind, to practice the teachings right now in life, so that you can start progressing along the spiritual life. The best way to do this is to practice the Lamrim teachings, which give you a firm roadmap of how and what to practice in a sequential manner. Giving up everything is not necessary to make real progress on the spiritual path, as outlined in the Lamrim, but sustained and consistent practice is the key. Then use the situations in your life to actualise that transformation. We hope this helps.
Sok asked:Hello respected pastors. Is Kusha grass same as Durva grass? How to obtain kusha grass? pastor answered:Dear Sok,
Kusha grass and Durva grass are two different types of grass, they are not the same.
Kusha grass is also known as halfa grass, big cordgrass, or salt reed-grass. Its scientific name is Desmostachya Bipinnata. In shape, each blade of grass is long and straight.
Durva grass is also known as bermuda grass. Its scientific name is Cynodon Dactylon. In shape, each blade looks segmented and has smaller leaves sprouting from it.
You can google the scientific name to see the difference between the two.
Generally, they can be bought at Indian religious stores if there are any nearby where you live. Alternatively, if you live in Asia, you can buy a traditional grass broom, which you can substitue for the Kusha grass. It is a close relative of Kusha grass and the lamas have said that it can be used as substitue if you cannot find the actual grass.
I hope this helps. Thank you.

Bhavisha asked:How to know wheather specific LOCAL deity is enlighten or not?pastor answered:Dear Bhavisha,
Local deities are not enlightened. They are sentient beings who look after or take care of a specific area. There are different names for these types of beings, such as local deities, Land God, Landowner deities, etc. They belong to the God Realm, but as other beings in the god realm, they are not enlightened. Hope this helps.

Rojal Poudel asked:What comes after attaining samatha or calm abiding meditation?pastor answered:Dear Rojal,
Nice to see you back here!
Shamatha is a tool, basically through this meditation you develop single pointed concentration. But after developing that, you use it to engage in Vipashyana meditation, otherwise known as Special Insight.
Different traditions have different version of Special Insight. In our tradition, we use this type of meditation to analyse what we call "emptiness." The teachings on the emptiness are the actual teaching that leads to enlightenment. All other teachings or practices help to prepare your mind to be able to do this.
Shamatha comes in, because the topic of emptiness is so deep, that we need single-pointed concentration to analyse it. If we don't have this type of concentration, we will not be able to understand emptiness. Hence, shamatha and vipashyana meditation are used in tandem to achieve enlightenment.
This may seem a little abstract. The Lamrim teachings go into this in a lot of detail. They can be found in the chapters dealing with the Concentration and Wisdom as part of the Six Perfections in the Great Scope sections of the Lamrim.
Hope this helps. Thank you.

Jonathan Tan asked:Hi Dear Pastor, I am curious if H.E 25th Tsem Rinpoche had any heart disciples (son/daughter)
Is there a difference between heart and root disciples?pastor answered:Dear Jonathan,
Thank you for your question. There is no one heart disciple of Tsem Rinpoche. This usually refers to specific person who carries on the teachings and practices of a particular teacher. Tsem Rinpoche wanted something different for Kechara, hence we carry on his teachings and practices as a group, rather than one specific person.
Rinpoche trained his students, who are either Sangha, Pastors or senior students in various ways of continuing his teachings, especially through the work that they do. In this way, we continue Rinpoche's teachings as a group rather than any one heart disciple.
Hope that this helps. Thank you.

Dear friends,
Tibet has produced many powerful meditations, rituals and guidelines to help us gain spiritual protection, gain wisdom and higher states of consciousness.
May you be safe, protected and blessed.

Divination (‘mo’) Text by Dorje Shugden

His Holiness the 10th Panchen Lama

Antique Pelden Lhamo thangka with sacred Dorje Shugden at the bottom right. Can see Tsongkapa and Guru Rinpoche on the top also. Beautiful and holy.
Thank you Rinpoche for this beautiful illustrated story and graphic novel of Dorje Shugden. Through this simple graphic story we can understand much better of this historical event leading to how Dorje Shugden arose as a supreme Dharma protector.
Great message every Tibetan especially must read!
Dear Rinpoche,
As I read this story again, it reminds me that Dharma is not something that is nice to see only. To serve a greater purpose, one must even sacrifice one’s life for the benefits of many. Thank you for this graphic novel as it helps me to remember the story line better.
Thank you again.
~Tsem Rinpoche
My parents and i really love this awesome Dorje Shugden illustrated story & graphic novel. I remember we had ro wait for our turn to read the book while the other one is busy or asleep.Lol! It’s very blessed to read about Dorje Shugden’s history, the death of Tulku Drakpa Gyeltsen and how he later arose as an enlightened dharma protector Dorje Shugden. Trode Khangsar Chapel in Lhasa, Tibet

The 5th Dalai Lama’s Prayer to Dorje Shugden

Very nice graphic novel about Dorje Shugden life story.. rejoice and fortunate to have powerful enlightened dharma protector in our life..
..
Awesome comic on the origins of Dorje Shugden #protector #dharmpala #manjushri #birwapa
Dear Rinpoche,
I remember my Grandma giving me this graphic novel to read. 🙂 It was a great book, although, at that time, I didn’t fully understand it. Now that I know a little more about Dorje Shugden and his lineage, when I went back to reread the book, I found it much more interesting than the last time. 🙂 Everything about this lineage is very interesting. And I find it fun to memorise the Four Drakpa’s :-). Pancen Sonam Drakpa, Tulku Drakpa Geltsyen, … … well, I’ve forgotten two. ^^;
But I will go back and memorise them again. And in chronological order too. 🙂
Your humble student,
Keng Hwa.
Thank you so much for the story. But should we disobey instruction from Dalai lama as he is the head of all tradition ?

With folded hands,
Pastor Gim Lee

I appreciate the effort put in by the editor, illustrator and writer to make this into pictorial format that easy to understand, but with concise and compact information based on HH Trijang Rinpoche’s great work “Music Delighting the Ocean of Protector”.
