Question Series for my Fb Friends:

Varjra Yogini’s left sacred foot steps on who or what? What is the position of the being She’s stepping on? What is the significance of this being and it’s position? What does this convey to us through Her practice?

(I thought I will post questions perhaps daily to help ppl think, learn and research. Let’s use FB… for learning.)

Thank you Rinpoche for the video explanation of who is under the feet of Vajrayogni and why are they below.

I find it really weird that such a powerful god would be addicted to copulation, to the extend to be having 4 different consorts to copulate at different times of the day all the time. Even when he is being invited for parties he does not show up but representation of him is there for the other gods to make offerings to. The weirdest part is that the representation would be his private organ.

It is scary that when samsara beings like us worship him we would be getting assistance, but be overwhelmed by the sexual desire that will ruin us.

What Shakyamuni has done is really cool by having emanations that look like Mahadeva to be at the places that were controlled by Mahadeva. To me, I believe that when Mahadeva saw the emanations of Shakyamuni it struck him of his sins hence he offered himself and his consort to be stepped on by Heruka (or Vajrayogini).

Thank you Rinpoche for explaining what each of the body part symbolises. Like the forehead for ignorance, heart area for hatred and anger, and the breasts of Kalarati for desire. I have never thought of why we would constantly be in samsara, but after watching the video, I understood that it is because of these three qualities that are symbolised by Mahadeva and Kalarati that cause us to be in samsara.

I also understood the importance of Vajrayogni’s practices in our times now. What Rinpoche has explained about as time passes further from Shakyamuni, the blessing becomes lesser has allowed me understand why other deities manifest in different times to help us.

Once again I would like to thank Rinpoche for this teaching. Allowing all of us here on the blog to know why practicing Vajrayogini is important in our time now. Why is she so powerful in helping us to combat our problems that we face in samsara that is being depicted by Mahadeva and Kalarati.

  2. Denise Kuek on Feb 10, 2015 at 12:57 am

Thank you Rinpoche for answering the questions. I like Vajra Yogini very very much, her manifest is so beautiful. I like Her standing posture as it is so cool, I like Her naked upper body as it shows me the maternal love, I like Her body colour as well. I like everything about Her. She is the most attractive Buddha to me, I hope one day I can receive the Vajra Yogini’s initiation from Rinpoche one day.

  3. Edwin Tan on Nov 29, 2014 at 3:09 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for the short and very informative teaching for Vajrayogini.

I learned a lot from it.

    Thank you.

  4. Pee Bee Chong on Oct 10, 2014 at 11:13 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for the clear explanation.
I pray may I have enough merit to learn Vajrayogini practice in the future.

  5. Casteven Lim (KH JB) on Feb 1, 2014 at 2:54 am

Thanks Rinpoche for the clear and easy understood explanation regarding “What is Vajra Yogini’s Left Foot Stepping On”

Hence thanks Rinpoche also for helping us to have chance to get closer to Vajra Yogini practice…

  6. Wan Wai Meng on Jan 17, 2014 at 1:34 pm

The gods at the feet of Vajrayogini is Kalarati and Bhairava. On Vajrayogini’s left leg she is stepping on Bhairava. The gods are emanated from Vajrayogini. The god Bhairava is representation an unenlightened being in samsara he specifically represents hatred and ignorance. Her toes steps on the forehead of Bhairava signifying her practice overcomes hatred, and her sole of her feet rests on Bhairava’s heart signifying that she overcomes ignorance that keeps us in Samsara.

When Vajrayogini steps on the gods, it shows she is above them and has overcome the delusions as represented by the two samsaric gods at her feet.

  7. Shelly tai on Dec 18, 2013 at 4:41 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for this clear explanation of Vajrayogini . Is a powerful practices to over come all our delusion especially at this era people are very busy looking for wealth and enjoyment they have no time to practices Dharma and the younger generation has very less focus on moral ethics they only focus on wealth and enjoyment, as what Rinpoche said as at this degenerates time Vajrayogini practices is most perfect to overcome all these polluted mind.

  8. Julien Roth on Dec 16, 2013 at 11:22 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for the nice and clear explanation of Varja Yogini. I now know more about her than i did in the past. And i am sure that everyone else feels this way as well.

  9. Sean Wang on Dec 16, 2013 at 10:49 pm

Dear Rinpoche, thank you for your very clear explanation on Vajrayogini. Now all of my questions about Vajrayogini are answered. Even things that I didn’t know I would have asked.

  10. Klára Moráková on Apr 16, 2011 at 1:52 am

So I know all about the symbols!:-)

  11. martin on Apr 15, 2011 at 8:55 pm

Dear Rinpoche, thank you for the very clear explanation. We are very fortunate to have Rinpoche’s blessings 24/7.

With regard to Vajra Yogini’s power of tantra, may I ask for further details why unlike others, Hers gets stronger the further it is from the time of Buddha Sakyamuni? In the video Rinpoche mentioned that it was because she is Heruka and she concquered Mahadewa. May I seek Rinpoche’s indulgence for a further lesson on this?

    Thank you

Prior to 1996, all Dorje Shugden practitioners and non-Dorje Shugden practitioners were in the same monasteries, the same hospitals, the same schools, the same government positions, the same kind of meetings/gatherings. They all went to the same Lamas but after 1996, when the ban was introduced and heavily enforced, then suddenly there were Dorje Shugden monasteries and non-Dorje Shugden monasteries. Dorje Shugden people cannot go to the hospitals, cannot go to the schools, cannot have the equal educational opportunities and jobs within the Tibetan community that non-Dorje Shugden people have.

In general, Tibetans are very poor and they can’t afford statues and beautiful offering items. Therefore, tsa tsas become a very practical and affordable object of refuge that they can put on the altar to make their offerings and worship.

“Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche: At the end of the day, education is brainwashing. Brainwashing is inevitable. We human beings love doing that. We are already brainwashed—we don’t know otherwise. So since we are going to brainwash anyway, it’s good to brainwash with good motivation and so that we can be kind, harmonious, and also decent. Becoming decent human beings seems to be not so much in the modern education agenda because, as we all know, modern education seems to be so much about what we can have. Human beings are defined by what we have, like cars and houses. And then modern education is also so much geared towards getting a job. There are very few schools that teach you anything other than what will benefit you in getting a job”

“His Holiness Zong Rinpoche stressed the need to continue to practice even when we come up against obstacles, and that we should continually review our progress. He stated that a happy, luxurious life was like a good dream, and that obstacles and difficulties were like a bad dream. We should give them no significance, but simply carry on working towards real, everlasting happiness.”

At the age of 23, Tsongkhapa went to the region of U to meet up with some people from his hometown, Amdo. His friends entreated him to return to Amdo and they also gave him a letter from his mother. She also requested him to return to Amdo and had slipped one of her white hairs in the letter too. Touched by this, Tsongkhapa considered returning to Amdo for a while. However, when he contemplated deeper. he realized that if he left for Amdo, he would be disrupting his practices of mental discipline. As there was no benefit, he sadly decided not to return to his homeland. Instead he sent a thangka of a painting of himself to his mother in Amdo. When his mother opened it, the picture spoke to her and it was as if Tsongkhapa was there with her, which brought her great joy. In a letter accompanying the thangka, Tsongkhapa requested his mother and sister to build a stupa around the sandalwood tree which had sprung up at his birth. His mother and sister complied and from that stupa, the holy monastery of Kumbum developed.

What Am I Writing Now

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

This is powerful. We are in a great place and that is Kechara. Some in the past and present and maybe future may think otherwise. And that is ok. Everyone has their karma to contend with. But if we put our efforts in Kechara and it's our genuine efforts, it can be no different than other places and even better. Where we put our efforts is where we will get the results. I guess this illustration says it all. "The grass isn't greener on the other side. It's greener where YOU water it.". Where we 'water' it is the effort we put in. Since we are here, we should do our best instead of doing little or mediocre thinking there is a better place and this is just a transition place. Because maybe this is the best place but some of us don't see it because we are blinded by our projections. Just my thoughts. Tsem Rinpoche

Chuan checked into the soup kitchen feeling worried this morning. He told us that he was coughing and there were blood coming out from his spluthum this morning. Chuan explained that he had the symptoms since morning and otherwise he is feeling fine. He was very worried if he has contracted a serious disease. He was then immediately rushed to the hospital for further checks for suspected TB and requires admission. We wish Chuan a swift recovery from his illness swiftly. Justin@KSK
