Question Series for my Fb Friends:

Varjra Yogini’s left sacred foot steps on who or what? What is the position of the being She’s stepping on? What is the significance of this being and it’s position? What does this convey to us through Her practice?

Thank you Rinpoche for the video explanation of who is under the feet of Vajrayogni and why are they below.

I find it really weird that such a powerful god would be addicted to copulation, to the extend to be having 4 different consorts to copulate at different times of the day all the time. Even when he is being invited for parties he does not show up but representation of him is there for the other gods to make offerings to. The weirdest part is that the representation would be his private organ.

It is scary that when samsara beings like us worship him we would be getting assistance, but be overwhelmed by the sexual desire that will ruin us.

What Shakyamuni has done is really cool by having emanations that look like Mahadeva to be at the places that were controlled by Mahadeva. To me, I believe that when Mahadeva saw the emanations of Shakyamuni it struck him of his sins hence he offered himself and his consort to be stepped on by Heruka (or Vajrayogini).

Thank you Rinpoche for explaining what each of the body part symbolises. Like the forehead for ignorance, heart area for hatred and anger, and the breasts of Kalarati for desire. I have never thought of why we would constantly be in samsara, but after watching the video, I understood that it is because of these three qualities that are symbolised by Mahadeva and Kalarati that cause us to be in samsara.

I also understood the importance of Vajrayogni’s practices in our times now. What Rinpoche has explained about as time passes further from Shakyamuni, the blessing becomes lesser has allowed me understand why other deities manifest in different times to help us.

Once again I would like to thank Rinpoche for this teaching. Allowing all of us here on the blog to know why practicing Vajrayogini is important in our time now. Why is she so powerful in helping us to combat our problems that we face in samsara that is being depicted by Mahadeva and Kalarati.

  2. Denise Kuek on Feb 10, 2015 at 12:57 am

Thank you Rinpoche for answering the questions. I like Vajra Yogini very very much, her manifest is so beautiful. I like Her standing posture as it is so cool, I like Her naked upper body as it shows me the maternal love, I like Her body colour as well. I like everything about Her. She is the most attractive Buddha to me, I hope one day I can receive the Vajra Yogini’s initiation from Rinpoche one day.

  3. Edwin Tan on Nov 29, 2014 at 3:09 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for the short and very informative teaching for Vajrayogini.

I learned a lot from it.

    Thank you.

  4. Pee Bee Chong on Oct 10, 2014 at 11:13 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for the clear explanation.
I pray may I have enough merit to learn Vajrayogini practice in the future.

  5. Casteven Lim (KH JB) on Feb 1, 2014 at 2:54 am

Thanks Rinpoche for the clear and easy understood explanation regarding “What is Vajra Yogini’s Left Foot Stepping On”

Hence thanks Rinpoche also for helping us to have chance to get closer to Vajra Yogini practice…

  6. Wan Wai Meng on Jan 17, 2014 at 1:34 pm

The gods at the feet of Vajrayogini is Kalarati and Bhairava. On Vajrayogini’s left leg she is stepping on Bhairava. The gods are emanated from Vajrayogini. The god Bhairava is representation an unenlightened being in samsara he specifically represents hatred and ignorance. Her toes steps on the forehead of Bhairava signifying her practice overcomes hatred, and her sole of her feet rests on Bhairava’s heart signifying that she overcomes ignorance that keeps us in Samsara.

When Vajrayogini steps on the gods, it shows she is above them and has overcome the delusions as represented by the two samsaric gods at her feet.

  7. Shelly tai on Dec 18, 2013 at 4:41 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for this clear explanation of Vajrayogini . Is a powerful practices to over come all our delusion especially at this era people are very busy looking for wealth and enjoyment they have no time to practices Dharma and the younger generation has very less focus on moral ethics they only focus on wealth and enjoyment, as what Rinpoche said as at this degenerates time Vajrayogini practices is most perfect to overcome all these polluted mind.

  8. Julien Roth on Dec 16, 2013 at 11:22 pm

Thank you Rinpoche for the nice and clear explanation of Varja Yogini. I now know more about her than i did in the past. And i am sure that everyone else feels this way as well.

  9. Sean Wang on Dec 16, 2013 at 10:49 pm

Dear Rinpoche, thank you for your very clear explanation on Vajrayogini. Now all of my questions about Vajrayogini are answered. Even things that I didn’t know I would have asked.

  10. Klára Moráková on Apr 16, 2011 at 1:52 am

So I know all about the symbols!:-)

  11. martin on Apr 15, 2011 at 8:55 pm

Dear Rinpoche, thank you for the very clear explanation. We are very fortunate to have Rinpoche’s blessings 24/7.

With regard to Vajra Yogini’s power of tantra, may I ask for further details why unlike others, Hers gets stronger the further it is from the time of Buddha Sakyamuni? In the video Rinpoche mentioned that it was because she is Heruka and she concquered Mahadewa. May I seek Rinpoche’s indulgence for a further lesson on this?

    Thank you

May Lord Manjushri bless us in all his secret, transformative, wrathful, peaceful, mystical, male and female forms to accomplish this for KFR. May KFR become a world class well known centre of learning, practice, tantra and benefit. May we never be separated from this divine Manjushri in lifetime after lifetime and be close to his bosom…. Every morning it would be wonderful to start the day by reciting Tsongkapa’s holy and sacred Migtseyma mantra at least 21 times minimum. This will bless our day. Take refuge in Lord Tsongkapa who became fully enlightened and was predicted by Lord Buddha Shakyamuni Himself. While reciting think of how we can let go of anger and be kind to all that day. To see, hear and contemplate on Lord Tsongkapa a Tri-Cosmic Buddha earns one great waves of merit propelling the practitioner closer to their final goal of liberation. Homage to Tsongkapa whose body, speech and mind are worthy of respect and refuge. Tsem Rinpoche

“There have been too many worthy attempts at pursuing the Dharma that have become bogged down in dogma, and so the vitality of it is lost. We can’t live life without structure. But being bound by it is also not living., nor can it truly be practice.”

If we suspended belief and disbelief for a moment, where would we be? If there is violence here at all, it is the violence we perpetrate on ourselves, by denying ourselves the love of humanity.

I guess my one wish now is to establish Kechara Forest Retreat to be a dharma learning centre. Where we have learned sangha who will teach philosophy, rituals, pujas, special rites to live there. I wish to produce among my friends and students dharma meditation teachers, people engaged in retreats and practice intense. I wish to have many local sangha there doing dharma work, learning and benefitting the public. I wish this place to have special emphasis on Panchen Sonam Drakpa’s texts, Vajra Yogini’s tantra, Nagarjuna’s texts, Manjushri, Tsongkapa and Dorje Shugden. To be a premiere place of learning of these subjects and practice. This is my goal. So it produces teachers and practitioners to benefit others. I wish to achieve this once phase two of the building is complete. Tsem Rinpoche

One of the favorite places I liked to visit was Kathmandu last time. I liked the four holy Vajra Yogini temples in the vicinity. Many of these holy places are not far from Kathmandu. I’ve always had wishes to live in the mountains surrounding Kathmandu. Offering items, spiritual wares, incense, juniper, ghee and whatever is necessary is so easy to obtain. I love making butterlamp offerings daily. Everywhere you look are stupas and reminders of the enlightened mind with temples, statues and holy places. I would have loved to live in the mountains there. When I consulted with my protector via the oracle, he told me not to stay there. I guess I can see why now. But I still long for those mountains very much. Tsem Rinpoche

When we do our sadhanas and meditations on our Yidams daily and consistently, we collect much merit to overcome life’s vicissitudes. We also sharpen our mind and keep our minds focused. It is very important to do our sadhanas to our Yidams daily without a miss. This should be our daily priority. More than anything else as this prepares for today, tomorrow and the hereafter. The last time I was in Kathmandu, I was very lucky as Jp arranged for me to have 100,000 butterlamps offered to Vajra Yogini. I had a rented Ladrang (house) in the hills of Kathmandu years back. We had a butterlamp house and daily we would offer 500-700 butterlamps. It took some time but we were able to finish off 100,000 butterlamps. We had arranged some Nepalese housewives to help us with the arranging of the offerings daily and they were happy to. It was too much for a few persons to do daily. In this butterlamp house we had a beautiful Vajra Yogini statue. And I loved it so much. I wish to have something like that in KFR in the future. Making light offerings to Buddhas has many benefits. A mind that conforms to a pattern of pleasure, or what it thinks is love, can never know what love is. A mind that has understood the whole ripening of disorder comes to an ORDER which is virtue, therefore which is Love.

What Am I Writing Now

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche & Kyabje Ling Rinpoche doing Lama Chöpa in Bodhgaya in the 60s
In the 1960s, H.H. Yongzin Kyabje Ling Rinpoche would always organize Lama Chöpa (Guru puja-composed by Panchen Rinpoche) with 1000 offerings in Bodhgaya and would often be joined in by H.H. Yongzin Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, and sometimes the 16th Karmapa would even join in. Wonderful. Watch this blessed and old footage of the two Yongzins doing Lama Chöpa in Bodhgaya. Yongzin is the special title to those who were the root and close teachers of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. There were two official Yongzins. Trijang Rinpoche and Ling Rinpoche were the Yongzins of the current Dalai Lama for over 40 years living nearby to Dalai Lama and passing him all the teachings necessary. They were extremely kind and giving all necessary teachings, empowerments and oral transmissions that Dalai Lama is disseminating to the world today to millions. Mr Nava had a bypass operation few months ago and have been recuperating since. He was staying in his friends' house and came to seek help from our JB team. We referred his case to Pusat Jagaan Murni in Kempas for permanent stay. At least he will get to reorganise himself before making plans to work again if his health permits. Thank you very much Mr Ravi for accepting Mr Nava as one your latest residents in your esteemed shelter home. Wish you best of health Mr Nava. Justin@KSK

Hema, 36 was homeless for almost four weeks when we found her in Larkin during the distribution rounds. According to her, she was recently terminated by her employer without any reason given and became homeless subsequently. She had been relying on food from restaurants around the area with very little money left. We referred her case to Anjung Singgah JB so that she can seek temporary stay and employment as she have 6 years working experience as a security guard. Justin@KSK
