Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche knew who I am

GangchenRinpoche-1

The first time that I met His Eminence Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche was in Nepal. It was truly an unplanned meeting. I was staying with another monk at the time who told me about this incredible lama, his guru, who was coming to town and he asked if I would like to meet his teacher. So I said yes and he said okay, we would get up and go together. And that was that so we went to sleep and the next morning, I woke up at 7am and got ready to have breakfast with my friend then go and meet this great teacher…and my friend was nowhere to be found! I searched high and low for him but he had disappeared. He had gone off to meet his teacher without me!

Well there was nothing I could do. Back then there were no handphones, no email, no WhatsApp or SMS messaging so I couldn’t reach him. I didn’t know what direction he had gone in, I didn’t even know the house address or location of his teacher! But I was thinking, “You wait, just you wait until you come back!” Anyway so later that day, I was walking in Thamel which is the main tourist area of Kathmandu and from a distance, I see this taxi coming towards me. I couldn’t really see who was inside the car but somehow I knew I had to stop the car. As the car drew closer, I saw in the front seat was someone with a big beard. I flagged down the taxi and got him to stop and went up to the front passenger seat. The window came down and the monk with the bushy beard asked me, “Who are you?” in a very bright, light voice. I replied, “My name is Tenzin Zopa and I have no idea who you are but I just knew I had to meet you!” At that time, I was not recognised as a reincarnation yet so I still went by my ordination name which was Tenzin Zopa given to me by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Taken in 1990, at Gangchen Labrang in Chabhil, Nepal. Gangchen Rinpoche spontaneously told me to give an impromptu teaching to his students, with no preparation whatsoever. Just talk on the spot. I was stumped but somehow gave a teaching. The whole time, Gangchen Rinpoche sat on the throne behind me listening and watching. When I was done, Gangchen Rinpoche said, "Good good!" and that was it. Over the years, Gangchen Rinpoche has done this many, many more times. On reflection, I think it was Gangchen Rinpoche's way of preparing me for what I would be doing in the future.

When I was done, Gangchen Rinpoche said, “Good good!” and that was it. Over the years, Gangchen Rinpoche has done this many, many more times. On reflection, I think it was Gangchen Rinpoche’s way of preparing me for what I would be doing in the future.

The monk replied, “Okay! You come to such-and-such a place and we will meet there! Bye bye!” and that was it, my first meeting was over. As the taxi pulled away, I looked in the back seat and who should I see in the backseat but my friend, squashed in with some other Westerners, pretending he didn’t see me! I kind of glared at him and I thought, “Just you wait! Juuuust you wait till later!” I was so annoyed! We had made plans to meet his teacher and he just left without me and didn’t say anything, didn’t tell me where he went or where to go or left me a note or anything like that! Today looking back, the incident was very funny because he really did disappear! It really did happen just like that and I really did meet this car just like that. But at the time I was so annoyed with my friend and later when I asked him what happened, he pretended like nothing had happened! He said, “But you were asleep!” and he had this thick French accent and I told him, “No, we agreed to meet at 7am and I was up waiting for you at 7am but you were gone and you left without me!” All he could say was well, I had met his teacher so now everything was okay LOL

So anyway, that monk in the front seat with the bushy beard turned out to be none other than His Eminence Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche, one of the foremost healers of our time. This was back in 1987 and when I arrived at Gangchen Rinpoche’s place, Rinpoche announced that I was a tulku or a reincarnated lama. I had never met him before, didn’t know who he was and he didn’t know me too, and here was this grand lama saying this about me. In fact, Gangchen Rinpoche was one of the first people to recognise me as a tulku, even before I got my official recognition. So upon sight, he told me directly that I am such-and-such reincarnation, and told me to go down to Gaden Shartse Monastery and announce it to the abbot. I told Rinpoche very respectfully, “I can’t do that Rinpoche! I can’t go down to the monastery and tell that to the abbot! I’ll be laughed out of the place!”

Gangchen Rinpoche told me, “No no no, go down and tell the abbot and tell them Gangchen Rinpoche said so.” I really did not want to! Can you imagine me walking into the abbot’s office and announcing that? What a young upstart pipsqueak! But Rinpoche kept saying it over and over again, and in the end he pretty much ordered me to do it so I had no choice. I had to follow my teacher’s instructions even though I really didn’t want to announce this to the abbot, and I went down to the monastery and I told the abbot, “I am such-and-such reincarnation, Gangchen Rinpoche said so and said I should be enthroned.” The abbot took one real good look at me, kind of squinted to see if I was being funny then he waved me off and told me to go and study.

Later on, it turned out that Gangchen Rinpoche was right. It turned out that I was a reincarnated lama and I did get recognised and I was enthroned at Gaden Shartse Monastery and His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama confirmed my recognition. I thought, “How did Gangchen Rinpoche know? Who told him? Nobody knew, I didn’t know.” That was the first of many times I saw for myself Gangchen Rinpoche’s clairvoyance and psychic powers. Gangchen Rinpoche has many special abilities and I AM SURE he can see and speak with the deities directly. He has visions all the time which sometimes he slips and tells us a little bit about, before he catches himself and stops talking.

So Gangchen Rinpoche (also known as Lama Gangchen) is well-known for his tremendous healing powers and his line of incarnations, starting with the Indian Mahasiddha Darikapa, are known to be powerful healers. Those who receive healing practices from Gangchen Rinpoche are very fortunate because having a strong, healthy body and a long life will give us the freedom to practise the holy Dharma free from distractions. I have heard of many people with very difficult-to-cure diseases who have been helped, even cured by Gangchen Rinpoche’s methods.

GangchenRinpoche-4

Back in 1994, I had the great honour to host His Eminence Gangchen Rinpoche in my house in Gaden Monastery

Gangchen Rinpoche is based mainly in Italy these days, but has healing centres around the world. As mentioned, there are many miracle stories associated with Gangchen Rinpoche. For example, when Rinpoche built his healing and meditation centre in Nepal, there was no water. Upon Rinpoche’s arrival at the site, a spring naturally sprung forth and to this day, it continues to provide water for the whole healing centre. They use this water to make their own medicines from fresh mountain herbs which are prescribed in the scriptures. Rinpoche is very famous for his pills, especially for healing skin problems. And they also have free clinics to provide healthcare, and a school for underprivileged children, a guest house, and also a traditional Tibetan furniture-making and incense workshop.

These days, Lama Gangchen focuses mainly on increasing awareness of Tibetan medicine, especially the integration of Tibetan medicine with Western medical disciplines. Lama Gangchen is also a holder of the Ngalso Tantric Self-Healing Method. These self-healing practices are based on the Buddha’s teachings but Gangchen Rinpoche conveys them in such a way that they are suitable for modern people. And of course unsurprisingly the method has had great success and expedited the healing of certain diseases, for example certain types of cancers.

Before Gangchen Rinpoche started transmitting these healing exercises, Rinpoche actually consulted with Dorje Shugden via an oracle. Dorje Shugden said it would be very beneficial to promote these practices which is why Gangchen Rinpoche has done so all of these years. Gangchen Rinpoche is extremely devoted to Dorje Shugden and during trance, Dorje Shugden will show his affection for Gangchen Rinpoche. Gangchen Rinpoche’s devotion to Dorje Shugden is also the main reason why for many years he was the #1 target of the Tibetan government in exile, because he refused to abide by the ban and refused to give up his practice, and even kept going back to Tibet to spread the Dharma and give teachings there.

Tsem Rinpoche and Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche in Malaysia during a Medicine Buddha ceremony

Tsem Rinpoche and Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche in Malaysia during a Medicine Buddha ceremony

So Gangchen Rinpoche is also a renowned practitioner of the Kurukulle, Oser Chenma (Marici), Kalachakra, Yamantaka, Heruka and Vajrayogini tantras (among many practices) and is a master of the construction of their mandalas. And as mentioned, he is also extremely close to Dorje Shugden and very devoted to him and upon request, people with merit may receive Dorje Shugden life entrustment (sogtae or initiation) from this extremely qualified teacher.

So it was this accomplished master who not only told me I am a reincarnated lama, but also told me that I should write my biography. Again it was Gangchen Rinpoche who insisted that I do it just as he has insisted over the years that I do many things, which always turned out to be true or beneficial because Gangchen Rinpoche’s motivation is always to benefit others. It hadn’t even crossed my mind to write a biography about myself.

GangchenRinpoche-11

So when Gangchen Rinpoche instructed me to do it, I declined to Rinpoche very politely and said that I am no one special so I don’t want to write it, because biographies are only written about special, interesting or inspirational people. But Gangchen Rinpoche kept insisting and told me over and over again that I need to write it because it would benefit a lot of people. In the end, I relented because I am not the type to debate and argue with my teacher. If my teacher says so, I have to do it, no and’s, if’s or but’s and I really didn’t want to be disrespectful towards him. So I said yes, okay I would on the basis that my teacher says it will benefit others. And that is why my students have been working on my biography, it is because Gangchen Rinpoche said so.

The video below was filmed as part of this biography project. I have had a close relationship with Gangchen Rinpoche throughout the years, and my team have gone to Italy many times to interview Gangchen Rinpoche and update him on my works and our activities here. So below Gangchen Rinpoche talks a little bit about me and his impressions of me and all of that. This is coming from someone who has known me for many, many years. If I were to tell you all the stories about my times with Gangchen Rinpoche, it could go on for hours and hours because Gangchen Rinpoche is one of those teachers that I have had the great fortune to spend a lot of time with, and who has given me a lot of advice for my works.

So I would like to thank Gangchen Rinpoche for his support, even by granting an audience to my students to do these interviews. Please do watch this video of this accomplished master, not because I am anyone special but because watching videos of enlightened minds speak will plant seeds of healing and enlightenment in your mindstream. In this day and age when anger and desire and the afflictive emotions are so strong, humanity is in great need of more beings like Rinpoche. May His Eminence Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche have a long, healthy life and always have the resources to continue his great works to heal the minds and bodies of sentient beings all around the world.

Tsem Rinpoche

His Eminence Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche

Main Points:

  1. Gangchen Rinpoche advised that Tsem Rinpoche should have his biography written because Tsem Rinpoche has been doing great works and his life story will greatly benefit many people and the Dharma. In addition, Tsem Rinpoche has a nice teaching style with jokes that will be of benefit for the Dharma and many people. These days, people suffer and they want to be happy, and therefore they read books and look for information that will be of benefit for them. They need good information that will inspire them to do good work and good deeds.
  2. Gangchen Rinpoche advised that the biography should reflect Tsem Rinpoche’s many special qualities. Tsem Rinpoche is a good lama, a tulku, with great knowledge in Buddhism and the knowledge of modern life. Compared to the lama that has been spending his life in the monastery, because Tsem Rinpoche has spent part of his life outside the monastery, his activities will grow more and spread in a positive way. It is special that Tsem Rinpoche has established himself in Malaysia because it is the first place where he went to teach.

  1. The biography text should be done in a way that it does not contain only facts, but it should be nice, easy to read, entertaining, poetic, with good explanation and deep meaning of the circumstances surrounding a certain event so the reader will benefit from it. For example, when we read the biography of Milarepa, we can dive to the time when he lived. Tsem Rinpoche’s biography should be done like that where everything should be done in a nice and beautiful way like poetry. The biography should tell the whole life of Tsem Rinpoche, the difficulties he experienced in the monastery and so forth, so the persons who are reading the biography will feel the direct benefit for their daily and personal lives and their practice of Dharma. The writers should not think that this would be the last biography because Tsem Rinpoche is still young. The biography should also contain how Tsem Rinpoche was recognised as a Tulku and how Tsem Rinpoche entered the monastery, his previous lives, and so forth.
  2. The facts of this life is more important than his previous lives. The biography should contain the information of Tsem Rinpoche’s effort and dedication for the Dharma. For example: How Tsem Rinpoche met and served Zong Rinpoche. Whenever Tsem Rinpoche had spare time, he always came to serve Zong Rinpoche although nobody was telling him to do so. This is a sign of a special being or a person with extremely good qualities and Dharma from other lives.
  3. Just like Prince Siddharta Gautama, Tsem Rinpoche’s passion and dedication toward Dharma is great, and therefore, it is important to record how Tsem Rinpoche transmitted this passion and dedication into actions/ deeds. The biography should also contain the types of advice that Tsem Rinpoche gave to his disciples, the difficult situations that the disciples experienced, and how Tsem Rinpoche helped them.
  4. Tsem Rinpoche left everything to practice Dharma and realised its special importance and value. Tsem Rinpoche left his family and secular life in the United States for his Dharma practice, and this is something that should not be forgotten in the biography. Tsem Rinpoche’s parents were not happy and against his Dharma practice, and as a result, he was disowned. The biography should document his determination to do Dharma practice. In reality, there is no better way to serve one’s parents than realising the Dharma, which is the basis of stable life.
  5. The target audience of this biography can be a mixture because Tsem Rinpoche is just showing the truth and is not hiding anything. As the Buddha has mentioned, the teachings should be in accordance with the needs, the capacity, the culture, and the mentality of the disciples. This is the reason we have Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana because we have many sentient beings with various mentalities. The story should be told as things were, and the truth should not be hidden. The biographer can tell the story carefully, but the information should be the truth.

Myself offering Gangchen Rinpoche a statue of Oser Chenma (Marici or the Tara of the Dawn), who rides on a wild sow (female pig)

  1. Tsem Rinpoche has strong Dharma imprints from previous lives. Some of his qualities may shine more than the others depending on the merits of the disciples, time, and place. For example, Tsem Rinpoche is very generous and giving. Tsem Rinpoche gives love, Dharma and protection from suffering. Because of his previous lives imprint, Tsem Rinpoche fulfills his vows naturally. What Tsem Rinpoche did in this life is much more important than what has been done in his previous lives.
  2. The difficulties that Tsem Rinpoche experienced were positive because they pushed Rinpoche to work harder to reach enlightenment. The fact that Tsem Rinpoche was recognised later in life is more beneficial compared to if Tsem Rinpoche was recognised earlier in life.
  3. Tsem Rinpoche’s style was unconventional and raised many questions. However, if we think about people’s complaints, then it would be endless. Even Buddha Shakyamuni and Lama Tsongkhapa also had their detractors. It is also important to adapt to the society where you live or to go against the society, but follow your path and lineage.
  4. Gangchen Rinpoche was very instrumental in making Tsem Rinpoche teach because in many of his previous lives, Tsem Rinpoche had done many retreats in the monastery, and now it is time for Tsem Rinpoche to teach.
  5. Gangchen Rinpoche has described Tsem Rinpoche’s previous lives in Tsem Rinpoche’s long life prayer composed by him. In his previous lives, Tsem Rinpoche had written many books, but they all stayed within the Tibetan and monastic community. Therefore, the actions of this life are even greater than the actions of the past lives because Tsem Rinpoche is reaching out to people beyond the monastic community.
  6. Tsem Rinpoche’s strong qualities like generosity should be included in the biography. Tsem Rinpoche has always practiced four types of generosity in a very natural way for example, Tsem Rinpoche always gives materials, love, protection, and the Dharma. A lama should fulfill his vows in a very natural way in his deeds and actions. Tsem Rinpoche has the qualities of Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana teachers/ spiritual guides.
  7. Tsem Rinpoche’s role in this life will become clearer as the time passes. This includes not only what he is doing and the directions that he is going, but it also depends on the teacher, and the merits and the conditions created by the disciples as to what deeds Tsem Rinpoche will be realising. However, Tsem Rinpoche’s deeds are dedicated toward world peace and the peace of the environment.

GangchenRinpoche-10

  1. For a Tibetan Lama to be born in Taiwan and later to become an American citizen is of clear importance because it is important for Tibetans to be born outside Tibet these days. The side effects of this teaching, for example in China there are many people who need the Dharma. When Gangchen Rinpoche predicted that Tsem Rinpoche would be big in China, he meant that Tsem Rinpoche would be benefiting many Chinese people around the world, not necessarily only the people within China.
  2. Tsem Rinpoche’s difficult life when he was young. This is a special way to benefit people because Tsem Rinpoche did not always live in a protective environment. The difficulties that Rinpoche experienced push him in his work now, and would eventually push him toward enlightenment.
  3. When Tsem Rinpoche first met Gangchen Rinpoche, he was enthusiastic and would like to meet and receive teachings from all Lamas everywhere. Gangchen Rinpoche did not recall any episodes of Tsem Rinpoche arguing with him. However, the way Tsem Rinpoche reacted may have been influenced by American culture.
  4. Tsem Rinpoche’s guru devotion is very strong. Tsem Rinpoche has a lot of devotion and respect to Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. When Tsem Rinpoche went around Nepal with Gangchen Rinpoche, Tsem Rinpoche showed his guru devotion by helping Gangchen Rinpoche in whatever way he could. Tsem Rinpoche’s guru devotion came out naturally, not because of customs.
  5. Tsem Rinpoche has done many retreats in this life.

Biography

GangchenRinpoche Lama Gangchen Rinpoche was born in western Tibet in 1941. He was recognised at an early age to be a reincarnate Lama healer and was enthroned at Gangchen Choepeling Monastery at the age of five. When he reached the age of twelve he received the “Kachen” degree which is usually conferred after twenty years of study. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, he studied medicine, astrology, meditation and philosophy in two of the major monastic universities of Tibet: Sera and Tashi Lhumpo.

He also studied in Gangchen Gompa, Tropu Gompa and Neytsong Monastery. He was a disciple of some of the most important Gelugpa Lamas like H.H. Trjichang Rinpoche. In 1963, he went into exile to India where he continued his studies for the next seven years at the Varanasi Sanskrit University in Benares. In 1970, he received the Geshe Rigram degree (similar to a Ph. D.) from Sera Monastic University situated in South India.

After his graduation, he worked as a Lama healer among the Tibetan communities in Nepal, India and Sikkim, during which time he saved the lives of many people and was named private physician to the Royal Family. In 1981, Lama Gangchen visited Europe for the first time and has since become a resident and Italian citizen. In the same year, he also established his first European center: Karuna Choetsok in Lesbos, Greece, where he planted a bodhi tree in the ‘Buddha Garden’, and where he consecrated what was to become the first in a long line of World Peace Buddha Statues, thankas and images.

Since 1982, he has travelled extensively, both healing and teaching worldwide, leading many pilgrimages to some of the most important holy places of different religious and spiritual denominations in the world. Since many years Lama Gangchen promotes a very important project: the integration between Tibetan Medicine (an incredible and unlikely still unknown treasure of humankind) with allopathic medicine.

Lama Gangchen Rinpoche is the holder of an ancient and unbroken lineage of Tantric Masters dating from the time of Shakyamuni Buddha. His Ngalso Tantric Selfhealing is based on Buddha’s teaching but it’s suitable for modern people.

At present he has more than 100 Inner Peace Education centres or Self-Healing Study Groups worldwide.

Looking through those pictures one could notice the closeness connection between two great masters . Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche knew who Rinpoche was and was one of the first people to recognise Rinpoche as a tulku. This deep connection with Rinpoche continues to this day. Well-known for his tremendous healing powers and unbroken lineage of Tantric Masters dating from the time of Shakyamuni Buddha . He has saved countless lives with his healing power, had travelled extensively around the world and gave teachings to many who crossed his path. Gangchen Rinpoche is extremely devoted to Dorje Shugden. H E Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche had motivated and advice Rinpoche to have his biography written to share so as to benefit people that’s how the book The Promise came in. Beautiful and great memories between them, and lots of stories to share.
Thank you Rinpoche for this sharing.

Wow, what an amazing story between Tsem Rinpoche and Gangchen Rinpoche. It was not coincident that Tsem Rinpoche met Gangchen Rinpoche in Thamel even without Tsem Rinpoche realising who was in the Taxi. Both of them must have had a very close connection since before this lifetime.

The funniest part I found in this story is when Tsem Rinpoche was instructed to go and tell the abbot he is a reincarnated lama. This was quite embarrassing but since it was an instruction from the guru, Tsem Rinpoche had to obey and do it. Tsem Rinpoche was laughed at for a while but later he was recognised as a reincarnated lama. This shows us how powerful Gangchen Rinpoche is.

What Gangchen Rinpoche said about the biography is right. Tsem Rinpoche’s life story is very inspiring, he should write a book about his experience. He had to go through a lot of hardship in life since he was a baby. He could have become a very angry person but instead, he developed so much care and love from the experiences and vowed not to bring harm to other people. No one can say Tsem Rinpoche does not know what life is outside the monastery because Tsem Rinpoche has experienced so much pain and hardship when he was young.

It’s a beautiful moments when our Guru meets H E Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche who is a real lama, with great knowledge and incredible healing abilities. H E Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche was one of the first people to recognise Rinpoche as a tulku, even Rinpoche was official confirmed .His clairvoyance is just amazing and has benefited thousands of people around the world. H E Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche has tremendous healing powers and his line of incarnations are known to be powerful healers. It is truly amazing to read about such an attained high lama and watching the video. It was a wonderful advice by H E Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche that Rinpoche should have his biography written which will benefit many people .
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this.

Gangchen Rinpoche’s advice that Tsem Rinpoche should have his biography written because Tsem Rinpoche has been doing great works and his life story will greatly benefit many people and the Dharma. I have read the first edition of Tsem Rinpoche’s biography and was inspired to do more after reading how much Rinpoche had to endure and still continued with his Dharma path. Biographies of high lamas are not meant as a self-promotion but as a means for lay people like me to draw inspiration from, learn and perhaps emulate their good qualities.

Gangchen Rinpoche mentioned that the actions of this life are even greater than the actions of the past lives because Tsem Rinpoche is reaching out to people beyond the monastic community. This is so true as Tsem Rinpoche has used modern means to transmit Dharma such as social media, youtube and websites such as this one and dorjeshugden.org.

A second edition of Tsem Rinpoche’s biography is in the making as I write this and am sure the even more will be touched, inspired and transformed after reading this edition.

May great masters like Tsem Rinpoche and Gangchen Rinpoche live long healthy lives to continue turning the Wheel of Dharma.

This story H.E. Tsem Rinpoche shared on how he met with H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche is amazing to read on even after heard about this for few times. From just by a sight H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche knows about who H.E. Tsem Rinpoche is, we know the attainments of him. Many stories I heard about H.E. Kyabje Gangchen from seniors who met him is his healing ability as mentioned is this post.

From H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche’s story we know more about H.E. Tsem Rinpoche’s qualities. Those who met Rinpoche personally or via internet or Youtube definitely would have many experience to share about Rinpoche and agreed on the qualities mentioned by H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche. On Rinpoche’s guru devotion, Rinpoche is like the real and perfect example coming out from The 50 Stanza of Guru Devotion. His generosity, giving and left everything for Dharma is yet another living example. Thanks for Rinpocehe for the sharing.

Thanks Rinpoche and blog team for the post on the wonderful relationships between Tsem Rinpoche and Gangchen Rinpoche.

From the post, there’s a feeling of Gangchen Rinpoche loves and takes care of Tsem Rinpoche like a heart son. Gangchen Rinpoche points out Tsem Rinpoche’s good qualities so sharply and clear, this shows that Gangchen Rinpoche’s enlighten qualities to see another enlighten being.

Tsem Rinpoche carries out each and every instruction from all his Guru without fail, a very good example to show how Guru Devotion leads us to reach our goal of spiritual practice.

I would like to thank Gangchen Rinpoche who started Tsem Rinpoche on giving Dharma talks, where Tsem Rinpoche started to turn the Wheel of Dharma that benefit tremendous amount of beings in the world.

May Tsem Rinpoche and Gangchen Rinpoche have long life, healthy and happy!

To have such an accomplished and erudite high Lama such as Gangchen Rinpoche acknowledge and speak so approvingly of Rinpoche is definitely a bonus. Not because Rinpoche’s qualities can’t speak for themselves but rather it would be powerful rebuttal against those seeking to defame and cause mischief. After all, we are not dealing with ordinary people who are easily fooled but a highly attained Dharma practitioner. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out who to believe.

In addition, it is very pragmatic to rely on results, both positive and negatives as means to make any points across to people. After all, actions speak louder than words. Thus, reading about Rinpoche’s life story and all that Rinpoche has done would definitely be beneficial to many on differing levels.

Thank you for such a wonderful sharing.

It is believed H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche is an emanation of Medicine Buddha. Many people have survived and get recovery with the help of Gangchen Rinpoche’s healing blessings. Most important is Gangchen Rinpoche is extremely devoted to Dorje Shugden and never give up his practice though he was the target of CTA.

Gangchen Rinpoche was one of the first people to recognise our precious guru, H.E. Tsem Rinpoche as a tulku and said Rinpoche should be enthroned. Gangchen Rinpoche advised and encouraged Tsem Rinpoche to have his biography written to tell everyone about his own story so that the people can feel the direct benefit and apply in their life as well as practice Dharma. In the video, Gangchen Rinpoche also emphasized that as Tsem Rinpoche’s students, we should not look at what Rinpoche was but look at what Rinpoche has done in this life. We have to look at Tsem Rinpoche’s qualities, determination in dharma, guru devotion, very skillful means in giving dharma teaching that includes jokes and easy understanding to the people and always practice the 4 types of generosity i.e. giving material, love, giving protection from suffering and give the dharma.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this article especially the video. In this video, I noticed that Gangchen Rinpoche’s answers are very clear, straight forward and Gangchen Rinpoche know well Tsem Rinpoche. May Gangchen Rinpoche stays healthy and long life and continues to benefit all sentient beings by turning the dharma wheel.

This story reflects the many personal accounts I’ve heard told to me of Rinpoche and other high lamas. As spiritual guides and teachers, I see lamas as leaders – they lead their students, guiding them to navigate through the peaks and falls of life towards their spiritual fulfilment. To know the quality of a leader, it is not necessary to have met or personally know the person. One just has to look at the person’s followers (or students in this case), where the achievements of the students reflect the greatness of their leader. Gangchen Rinpoche has Tsem Rinpoche as a student, another great leader who himself has also inspired his own students to incredible heights of achievement. As they say, “the proof is in the pudding” and looking at the pudding, it is really quite an amazing pudding.

If Tsem Rinpoche was a Game of Thrones character, he would be Jon Snow but unlike Jon Snow, (and I found it hard to believe it at first, but now I’m quite certain) he really does know everything.

I am very thankful to read this article and watch the video. Because it is truly amazing to read about an enlightened mind speaks about another enlightened mind. Gangchen Rinpoche sees the qualities of our Tsem Rinpoche that are unique but absolutely important to spread the Dharma and benefit many sentient beings. To me, I have not met anyone in my life who exhibits so many of qualities that put others above self, that put Guru Devotion as the number one priority and who tirelessly share and promote the Dharma.

Rinpoche makes esoterical Buddha Dharma available in a language that anyone can understand, in a way that many people can apply in their daily lives and on a platform that is just a few finger clicks away. In this way, Buddha Dharma becomes the salvation for modern people like me, turn my mind around and give me a new chance in this human life to do the right thing. Which otherwise impossible in this degenerated times and age.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing miracle stories about Gangchen Rinpoche. As Tsem Rinpoche’s student, I have heard quite a number of stories of Gangchen Rinpoche from other senior students, however nothing beats stories from Rinpoche Himself ? When I grow up and hear mystical stories, I just brushed it aside and most of the time, I choose not to believe because I can’t confirm it. But somehow I always believe what Rinpoche said because there is absolutely no reason why Rinpoche would lie to clown like me (and break His vows).

What stood out for me in this article is Gangchen Rinpoche’s task to Tsem Rinpoche to come out with the biography. When I first heard about this biography project, I was too skeptical, but it has proven that the biography has made tremendous impacts to many people including many of my friends. Many are amazed by the sufferings Rinpoche need to endure and yet only good things came out from it. Given so much suffering one needs to face during childhood, Rinpoche’s stories has inspired many. Many said, if Rinpoche had the suffering like us “normal” people, then why not us?

I am sure Rinpoche has more interesting stories to share, and looking forward to hearing more soon ??

Thank you to Rinpoche to share about his interaction with Gangchen Rinpoche. It is a good insight into about Gangchen Lama and all the great works that Gangchen lama does as a healing lama.

Tsem Rinpoche’s life was and all the difficulty he has experienced being documented in a biography, can only benefit people to be inspired and not give up. Especially people who want to do the dharma. Rinpoche was very always enthusiastic about the Buddha Dharma, always 200% about the buddha dharma, no matter what he has to face and this article kind of illustrated that.

I’ve had the fortune of meeting Gangchen Rinpoche on multiple occasions and have also listened to many of Tsem Rinpoche’s stories about his experiences with this living Mahasiddha. From Rinpoche’s tales, Gangchen Rinpoche is highly clairvoyant and I have had first hand experience of his penetrating insight into what was in my mind, and his skilful means of showing me ways out of a mental rut.

So this story about how Gangchen Rinpoche recognised Tsem Rinpoche as an incarnate lama is just one clear indication of his clairvoyance, and this recognition has been confirmed by no less than Dorje Shugden as well as many other attained lamas. Dorje Shugden’s recognition of Tsem Rinpoche’s incarnation lineage was updated to Gangchen Rinpoche, many years after that fateful day, and Gangchen Rinpoche was very pleased to hear it. I can say this with confidence because I was physically present with some others.

In the same way, what Gangchen Rinpoche said about Tsem Rinpoche’s qualities is very true and those who have had direct experience of Tsem Rinpoche will attest to this. I am looking forward to more editions of Rinpoche’s biography because if Gangchen Rinpoche says it is beneficial, it definitely will be.

Just to share, this is one of my fav pics of Gangchen Rinpoche

      Dear Beng Kooi,
Thank you for sharing your favourite picture of Gangchen Rinpoche. It’s a fascinating picture. I love it too. I’m looking forwards to have Gangchen Rinpoche visiting our Kechara Forest Retreat soon. It would honour to see these two Mahasidha meet again. Thank you for your sharing.

By reading the story of how H.E. the 25th Tsem Tulku Rinpoche met Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche is truly like a legend yet it was real. I am amazed and fascinated to it. I am sure this is due to their pass lives karma hence this life they meet again to teach and liberate all sentient beings again as they promised. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche recognised H.E. Tsem Rinpoche as who he was, in his pass life, just like a long lost friend or brother. As we all know only very highly attained lamas can do that. Tsem Rinpoche’s reincarnation also being recognised, confirmed by Dorje Shugden and enthroned by H. H. the 14th Dalai Lama himself. This is simply showed that highly attained lamas with magical power due to their practice of holding their vows, samaya and compassion still exist in our life. They are real. These are all Lamas that practice Dorje Shugden. I do not see any wrong in them just like what CTA says. Yet after reading this, once again I strengthen my faith in Dorje Shugden and the Buddha Dharma, that it is confirmed and no doubt, Dorje Shugden is an enlightenment Protector who we can rely on for our spiritual path.

The qualities of Tsem Tulku Rinpoche are well known by those who know him. It is beautiful to hear them also from one of his teachers. Yesterday evening we had a discussion and some of our group did talk about Lama Gangchen Rinpoche and that they met him or what they know about him.

I think that we are very fortunate to meet these holy beings and the Dharma and to see their actions and on what they focus.

I had fortune withness few event when Gangchen Rinpoche meeting Tsem Rinpoche at Singapore and Malaysia. Tsem Rinpoche guru devotion toward Gangchen Rinpoche like dharma father and son relationship. Gangchen Rinpoche had advice Tsem Rinpoche to learn up computer the early day and in future rinpoche able to promote dharma through media worldwise. This is the clear example how Tsem rinpoche guru devotion follow Gangchen rinpiche advice all the way. Tsem rinpoche giving dharma teaching through his blog benifiting many people until now.

When Tsem rinpoche facing problem teaching dharma at south east Asia, Gangchen Tinooche always first lama contacted Tsem rinpoche giving him advice to help his spiritual teaching journey. Tsem Rinpiche always cherish this close relationship with Gangchen Rinpoche for his first met Gangchen rinpoche until now. This article has show us how much Tsem rinpoche respect and devotion toward Gangchen rinpoche promote Dharma and Dorje Shughen practice and continue pass down the lineage to furure generation. Thank you rinpoche to sharing this article.

Great beings are divided all over the world to help people and sentient beings who are in need. They could emanate in any form without our knowing and assist us in their wisdom minds.

May all great beings, who are like Tsem Rinpoche and Gangchen Rinpoche to live long and healthy to stay on Earth to benefit all sentient beinga with Buddhadharma.

Gangchen Rinpoche is one of the “fantastic” Lamas in Tibetan Buddhism. There are so many things to write about Gangchen Rinpoche but one of the most significant deed Gangchen Rinpoche did (for me) was recognising Tsem Rinpoche as a Tulku and repeatedly asked Tsem Rinpoche to go to Gaden Monastery to be recognised as a Tulku.

I have never met His Eminence before but was fortunate enough to visit Gangchen Labrang many years ago. I am in awe of Gangchen Rinpoche’s scale of work particularly the free schools and free clinics built in Nepal for the underprivileged. Apart from that Gangchen Lama famous for being the Healing Lama tells you a lot about His Eminence.

  22. Pastor Albert on Aug 24, 2017 at 1:51 am

Gangchen Rinpoche is so highly attained, when he first met Tsem Rinpoche, he already recognised Rinpoche as a Tulku, and then later Rinpoche been recognised as incarnated Tulku, Gangchen Rinpoche’s clairvoyance is so accurate. The meeting of the 2 Buddha is so amazing.

Thanks to Gangchen Rinpoche, now we have Rinpoche’s biography and so many people has benefited by this book, the book’s layout, content and the format is just like what Gangchen prescribe, it is a very interesting read on Rinpoche’s bio.

When one is facing great difficulties, when one does not has anyone to get advice, when one is very helpless and when they are deciding to give up, they can read on a high lama’s biography, because from the Lama’s bio, it allow one to learn what the Lama has gone thru and how much suffering they were enduring but yet, they didn’t give up or slow down, they still continue to work for the benefit of others, just like this article, by reading it, it has already opened up our mind to see things differently.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing your meeting with Gangchen Rinpoche.

It is interesting knowing such great erudite master like Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche who shows clairvoyance that been witnessed by his students. Much to my surprised, Gangchen Rinpoche has this special psychic power to bring death to life! Other than that, more interesting stories like the springing out water from the spot that he urinated in one of his healing centres, the existing of a boar that later bow in front of him which he claimed is Marici, the goddess of dawn and the blessing Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche gave on secluded land.

Thank you, Rinpoche for sharing this article and introduction of his teacher, H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche.

From the article seeing the two great beings meeting each other is really not an coincident and it really show how attained they are. Upon sight H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche already know who is H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche and through Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche’s clairvoyant he able to see Rinpoche’s qualities and gave advices on how Rinpoche able to benefit many people. I strongly believe that Rinpoche knows what need to be done but is for us the students to develop faith and focus in our dharma learning from Rinpoche and put in practice on all the work needed to benefit other with Rinpoche.

Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche mentioned that Rinpoche previous lives had many retreats and written text and in this live is time to teach to reach out people beyond monastic community. From this we can see how Rinpoche blog https://www.tsemrinpoche.com has reach so many people and benefitted so many people from different background.

Thank you Rinpoche for sharing the experience with Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche.

To be in the presence of great high lamas is incredibly exhilarating and one can only stare in awe of their glowing physical form. I had the great fortune to have met Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche a couple of times. I was also fortunate to have visited Gangchen labrang most of the time when I was in Kathmandu, Nepal, and each visit is warmly received by Jamyang-la, nephew of Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche. Jamyang-la is a humble and good monk who manages the furniture, incense and herb factory within Gangchen labrang. During one visit to Gangchen labrang, I asked Jamyang-la to narrate the story of water coming out of the ground on Himalayan Healing Centre, the Tibetan clinic started by Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche on the outskirts of Kathmandu. The clinic supports and provides Tibetan medical medicine and care to the poor and needy in that area. Jamyang-la modestly said that Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche urinated on a spot at the high ground where the healing centre was to be built. Later during construction, water was found coming out from the spot where Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche had urinated. Amazing! The water collected from the ground was for the use of the entire healing centre.

Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche is indeed clairvoyant and highly attained as mentioned by Rinpoche. And there are two of them! It is an interesting and exciting post. To read the part where Rinpoche stopped the taxi and when Gangchen Rinpoche asked Rinpoche to be recognized as a Tulku. The main points that were mentioned at the bottom of the post was really logical and true because a lot of it was experienced by the students.

I must say that Rinpoche’s biography ‘The Promise’ was done really well with lots of photos and details. Once you start reading, you can’t stop, you just want to continue to learn and understand more about Rinpoche’s life. It’s a must read!

Gangchen Rinpoche’s advice my Guru , Tsem Rinpoche to write his own biography really inspired my Guru,Tsem Tulku Rinpoche in his spiritual journey. Tsem Rinpoche biography really benefited many people and inspired many to never give up in difficult life.
Besides that, Tsem Rinpoche always infuse some jokes or good humor in Dharma sharing to make the Dharma more practical and close to our daily life.
Thanks Gangchen Rinpoche and Tsem Rinpoche for this sharing.

H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche, being one of Rinpoche’s gurus is renowned as a healing lama and very popular in China. He is very highly attained and it is wonderful that Kechara has some healing practices that stem from him. He has very few expectations but encourages his students and all he comes across to practice mind transformation. I rejoice in H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche’s kindness and generosity. Thank you, H.E. Thank you Rinpoche and writer’s team for writting this article. It is great to hear other Lama saying our Guru is great especially when it comes from a High Lama like Gangchen Rinpoche. Gangchen Rinpoche himself is also a great Lama and he heals people’s sickness. We are very fortunate to have met and become Tsem Rinpoche’s student. Tsem Rinpoche’s biography indeed touches a lot of people including myself. I cried while reading it. My other Dharma also cried when read it. My Guru, Tsem Rinpoche is ever so caring, kind, loving, compassionate, etc. You name it, Rinpoche has all the good qualities that we don’t have. His care and love is unconditional. He never expects anything in return but for our mind transformation after learning the Dharma. May Gangchen Rinpoche and Tsem Rinpoche have long life and continue to turn the wheel of Dharma.

And with his high clairvoyant capabilities, prophecied Tsem Rinpoche’s great works as a highly attained Tulku in his past lives. Due to H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche’s guru devotion to His Guru, Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche, Tsem Rinpoche in this life will teach and the Dharma will flow to all ten directions.

According to Gangchen Rinpoche, Tsem Rinpoche in his previous lives, had written many Dharma Text and performed great retreats, but with influence within Tibet and the monastic orders. This life, Tsem Rinpoche’s teachings will benefit many many people without restrictions to sectors of society and without boundaries.

With more than 10 million views on Tsemrinpoche.com, Gangchen Rinpoche is definitely clairvoyant with psychic powers.

Read what a renowned Great Master has to say about H.E. the 25th Tsem Rinpoche.

H.E. Kyabje Gangchen Rinpoche ,one of Tsem Rinpoche’s gurus, is one of the foremost healers of our time. He is also a World Peace advocate and ambassador. He has installed World Peace Buddha statues everywhere. What strikes us in this article by Rinpoche is Gangchen Rinpoche’s extraordinary clairvoyance and psychic power, and his being a highly attained Master.

When Tsem Rinpoche met him in his home in 1987, he immediately announced that Rinpoche was a Tulku. It turned out that Gangchen Rinpoche was one of the first people to recognise Tsem Rinpoche as a tulku, even before Rinpoche received his official recognition. Later it turned out Gangchen Rinpoche was right, when Tsem Rinpoche was recognised and enthroned.

Gangchen Rinpoche is very close to Dorje Shugden and very devoted to the Protector.Despite the ban, he has continued his Dorje Shugden practice. He has been visiting Tibet and spreading the Dharma and giving teachings there.

He has insisted that Rinpoche write his biography for the benefit of many people.Gangchen Rinpoche said that the biography should reflect Rinpoche’s many good qualities , his passion for Dharma from young, as well as his deep and exceptional Guru Devotion.

Gangchen Rinpoche was hugely instrumental in making Tsem Rinpoche teach. In the early years of 1990, owing to his clairvoyance, he knew that in the future, Rinpoche would be teaching in far-flung regions. Gangchen Rinpoche “spontaneously” told Tsem Rinpoche to give an impromptu teaching to his students , without any preparation at all. Though Rinpoche was stumped, he somehow managed to give a teaching, while Gangchen Rinpoche listened and watched all throughout , from behind the throne! Afterwards, he said , “Good Good” to Rinpoche in an encouraging manner. This was the first of many teachings he would make Rinpoche give over the years! In reflection, Rinpoche saw that Gangchen Rinpoche was actually preparing him for the teachings he would be giving in the future!

Thus did Gangchen Rinpoche give Tsem Rinpoche a great deal of support and encouragement and powerful invaluable advice.

Living with my wife, whose world is meticulously painted with the hues of OCD, is a journey that intertwines the essence of love with the complexities of the human mind. Her relentless pursuit of cleanliness and order, transforming even the most negligible corner into a testament of organization, often dances on the fine line between admiration and frustration. The sight of her steering clear from trash bins as if they were labyrinths of chaos, serves as a poignant reminder of the battles she fights within. Yet, it’s through these very battles that I’ve learned the profound language of patience and the unspoken strength of support. Therapy, in its gentle embrace, has been a beacon of light for her, guiding her through the stormy seas of OCD. It has not only offered her solace but has also unveiled the strength of her spirit, teaching us both the beauty of resilience. As she journeys through the pathways of healing, I stand by her, a testament to the power of love and the enduring promise of hope. Together, we navigate the complexities of her world, discovering that within the challenges lie opportunities for growth, understanding, and an unbreakable bond. https://www.mindfullyaliveonline.com/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-ocd/

Venerable Ajahn Chah was a Thai Buddhist teacher of the Buddhadhamma and a founder of two major monasteries in the Thai Forest Tradition. Well respected and loved as a man of great wisdom, he was also instrumental in establishing Theravada Buddhism in the West. Interesting life story, how he chose to leave the settled monastic life and became a wandering ascetic. Walking across Thailand, lived in forests, caves and cremation grounds while learning from the meditation monks of the Forest of various monasteries. He wandered through the countryside in quest of quiet and secluded places for developing meditation. He even lived in tiger and cobra infested jungles, using reflections on death to penetrate to the true meaning of life. After years of wandering, Venerable Ajahn Chah established a monastery where he taught simple, practice-based form of meditation, and attracted a numerous of students including western foreigners. He was one of the greatest Dhamma teachers of the modern era. His wise teachings have continued to guide thousands of people along the path of Dharma. Venerable Ajahn Chah’s teachings of the Thai Forest Tradition gradually spread across all over the world. Several of Ajahn Chah’s Western students have since established monasteries throughout the world. Just in Thailand itself, there are more than 300 branch monasteries in Ajahn Chah’s tradition. Ven erable Ajahn Chah used his ill health as a teaching point, emphasizing that it was a living example of the impermanence of all things and reminded people to endeavour to find a true refuge within themselves. The legacy of Venerable Ajahn Chah’s teachings and legacy continues into the modern age.
Thank you Rinpoche for this great sharing.

Wonderful blog written on the practice of Kalarupa for us to understand better. As an emanation of Manjushri, Kalarupa’s practice helps us to destroy ignorance and to develop wisdom overcoming our anger and suffering . Awesome Kalarupa manifested in multiple forms to help sentient beings who personifies enlightenment by the conquest of anger. Kalarupa also regard as one of the three main Dharma protectors of the Gelugpa is extremely fierce and ugly, and tames all kinds of spiritual ugliness. The fierceness of his iconography teaches us to remind ourselves that all the causes and effects of anger arising from ignorance are dreadful and distorted.

Nepal is a very spiritual country, having a huge Dorje Shugden mural in Kathmandu, is indeed a big achievement for Kechara. Located on Charkhal Road in Dilli Bazaar, the mural can be found midway between our two Dorje Shugden chapels which are in Putalisadak and Chabahil. It is also very close to one of Kathmandu’s largest shopping malls. Many locals , tourist will be able to connect them to a powerful deity that is so closely associated with their culture. Well the mural not only beautiful but also full of symbolism and everyone merely by seeing it is blessed. Thanks to those talented artists and generous sponsors making it a success.

All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on. Letting go helps us to live in a more peaceful state of mind and helps restore our balance. A reminder for us all to go of attachment and meditating on impermanence and emptiness. We are to relinquish the domination of our ego and its habits to transform ourselves. A great reminder not to waste our previous life.

Winning the lottery was part of my dreams, I tried so hard to win big but all to no avail, until I came across Dr Lucas online who made my dreams come through and made me win 10 million dollars. I was a logistics manager who lives in Lancaster, S.C. and works about an hour’s drive away, in Charlotte, N.C., I stopped at a store to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket during my lunch break, because Dr Lucas gave me all the assurance that the numbers are not going to fail after I did all he asked me to do. Dr lucas is a powerful Dr that is on a mission to eradicate poverty from people’s lives and i have confirmed that by winning $10 million with the numbers he provided for me, it is my promise to tell the world about my experience with Dr Lucas and that’s what I’m doing now, you can win the lottery fast with the help of Dr Lucas he is tested and trusted Email: Drlucasspelltemple@gmail. com or WhatsApp +234 904 794 3567 he will help you.

We are members of the Buddhist Temple in Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur and we have been issued membership by the president (DATUK YIP KUM FOOK), we are very sad because we are the foundation of this Temple

Now we can know who is always messing with people, and he always cheats money and women, he even uses Buddhism to find money.

Also, need to be careful with his brother-in-law (Simon Low Kok Meng) because he is a spy (CID) for DATUK YIP KUM FOOK and we will write some letters to AGONG SULTAN IBRAHIM IBN ALMARHUM SULTAN ISKANDAR as soon as possible.

The matriarchal cultures of the grandmothers have specific symbolism of animism shamanism, such as the horse, especially the blue horse, and the deer. These are two main symbols of a shaman woman and you can find them in many cultural folk lore, especially the Russian, Slavic, Siberian, Nordic, Finland, and Norway. It’s nice to see the Matriarchal Shaman Animism diety represented in Chinese.

An inspiring act of a selfless Lama feeding strays whether its night or day. Truly an example for us all to feed those lonely strays . Yes I do agree compassion starts with feeding strays. Reading this blog again to refresh myself to do more. Strays animals generally lead a life of poor welfare on the street. Feeding strays is a compassionate act.
Thank you Rinpoche and Anila for this sharing.

H E Tsem Rinpoche’s Sungbum project aim to preserve the teachings and practices that have been passed from teacher to disciple in an unbroken line beginning with Lama Tsongkhapa himself . History has taught us the importance of preserving Buddha’s stainless teachings. Its important to preserve and safeguard the Buddhist tradition for future generations.
Tsem Rinpoche is a clear and effective teacher where his stories and teachings are endlessly entertaining and inspiring. The preservation is very much needed. We are so fortunate given a chance to be involved in such a meritorious project .
    Thank you.

Demons are disembodied spirits, supernatural being or spirit and unseen beings. We know they do exist and I believe they do. They have no physical form to them whatsoever. Demons do definitely exist. They are intelligent beings who are evil malicious spirits and are all dangerous entities. Valak is not to be summoned capriciously by anyone as they are dangerous beings when we invoke them having to face a heavy consequence. There are spiritual practices that we can ask for help a ritual of the wrathful Manjushri in the form of Trakze. Having a doing the practice daily without fail, consistently, as this Trakze practice has been proven to be efficacious to break the hold the Valak and other spirits. All thanks to our Guru bringing this practice to Kechara Forest Retreat, Bentong Malaysia.
Thank you Rinpoche for this wonderful sharing for us to understand better.

Wow ,reading all these powerful quotes had me realised much better of giving even I have little. May H E Tsem Rinpoche’s sincere advice to reach the far shore of liberation to everyone reading this blog. The most truly generous people are those who give silently without asking any in return. There is no exercise better than reaching and lifting people up. A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal. Well creating and lighting for others we naturally light our own way. Helping others especially those unfortunate ones, make us feel more positive about our own circumstances.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing all these powerful quotes.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.
~Tsem Rinpoche

What the meat industry figured out is that you don't need healthy animals to make a profit.
Sick animals are more profitable... farms calculate how close to death they can keep animals without killing them. That's the business model. How quickly they can be made to grow, how tightly they can be packed, how much or how little can they eat, how sick they can get without dying... We live in a world in which it's conventional to treat an animal like a block of wood. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

Anonymous asked: 1: how can cleaning be turned into meditation? 2: in Chinese tradition, when someone passes away, there are these blankets with like Buddhas' names on it, Buddhist symbols, etc. What happens when they are cremated, what should we do so it isn't disrespectful to burn the cover/blanket? Thank you ♡
pastor answered: Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your questions. In regards to your first question, here is a part of Tsem Rinpoche's teaching (https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/how-to-purify-your-karma-in-kechara-forest-retreat.html): "As I have shared before, during the Buddha’s time, he had a student who was not very intelligent, an old monk. And when this old monk memorised the first word, when he got to the second word, he forgot the first word. When he went back to the first word, he forgot the second word. And he’d yo-yo back and forth like that. And he was very frustrated so he asked the Buddha what he could do because he was having such a hard time memorising and understanding the Dharma due to his very, very, very, poor memory. And so the Buddha said, “Visualise a temple, the shoes of the monks, the floor, the surrounding area, the garden, the trees and all that as your mind. And all the leaves that have fallen as your karma, and your kleshas, your obstructions, your obstacles. Think of all the dirt, think of all the dust, as your kleshas and your obstructions and your negative karma, and every day clean it. And recite this DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG, DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG, DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG. Remove my defilements, remove its leftovers. Remove my defilements, remove the leftovers, the stains.. So, to recite that every day carefully and to visualise it carefully and do that.” So when you are cleaning, you visualise that you are cleaning the defilements from your mind, you can recite "DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG, DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG, DÜ PUNG DRI MA PUNG." or "Remove my defilements, remove its leftovers." Or you can recite mantras of purification such as Vajrasattva. In regards to your second question: from the Tibetan Buddhist viewpoints you would not burn mantras or images of or associated with the Three Jewels. However, the specific mantras on the blanket, may be for this specific purpose. We wouldn't be able to give you a definitive answers as we would need to know the specific mantras, prayers, images on the blanket. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Jason asked: Continuing from the previous answer, how do we liberate ourselves from samsara if it’s impossible to not create further karma while existing in samsara? If we create karma just be existing, that means that we will keep reincarnating over and over again so it seems like we’re stuck in the cycle
pastor answered: Dear Jason, You've asked a very interesting follow-up question. Generally speaking, yes if you are in samsara, then you are always creating more karma. That's why the goal of Buddhists is to be liberated from samsara. The Buddha and other enlightened beings achieved this and the practice of Dharma itself is geared towards achieving this. I'll try to explain it here, hopefully I can do so in such a short space. So, normally there is no way out of samsara, but when you practice the Dharma there is. Remember in my previous reply to you, I mentioned that there are differing levels of severity of karma? Some are heavier, some lighter, etc. When practising the Dharma, you reduce the amount of karma that you produce. When you have less effects of karma, due to less negative karma itself, you can focus more on the spiritual practices that lead to liberation. I'll take the examples of the Refuge vows. There are 10 of them, split into three categories related to the body, speech and mind. First is the body, which includes to abstain form killing, as killing creates negative karma. The in the speech section, it includes to abstain from lying. This is harder to do. What is easier - to abstain from killing another human being, or lying to another person. The easier one is not to kill. Hence, you train yourself in this manner, working from those actions that are easiest to avoid, working up to those that are harder. For example in the mind section, one of the vows is not to covet something that another person has. But this is harder to do than either not lying or not killing. In other words, in our spiritual practice, we reduce the karma that we create though the actions of our body, speech and mind. Since we have less karma, we suffer less. And then finally, we are get to really subtle levels of karma, which are like residue in our mindstreams. But it's still there. In order to get out of samsara, you need to realise what we call emptiness (which is way to complicated to talk about here). In other words, the very path of the Dharma is to reduce the karma we create, starting with the easiest and working up to the hardest, which is where it becomes the easiest to understand emptiness. This who journey is a process, that's why teachings such as the Lamrim are indesipensible as it shows us the actual way to practice. Normally, we are stuck in Samsara. But when we practice the Dharma and ultimately realise emptiness (there are many, many steps in between) we are able to get out of samsara completely. This may sound confusing, which is why in Buddhism study, understand and practice is very important. We have Dharma classes available, where you can learn and find out more: https://www.kechara.com/learn/dharma-classes/ I hope this helps.

Jason asked: People-especially family put certain expectations on us and when we refuse, it causes them a lot of stress and anger and we make them suffer…. my family wants me to marry and have kids but I don’t want to be tied down to Samsara any further and just explaining that I want to shave my head drives my mom crazy and she starts speaking to me in a very loud and forceful manner saying that she doesn’t care what I have to say and that she knows better than me so she will do whatever it takes make me have a family even if she ends up becoming a villain in my eyes because it’s for my own good so that I won’t be alone and lonely when I’m old. When we say no to people, especially to people who care about us and want the best for us, do we accumulate negative karma from causing them emotional turmoil and pain
pastor answered: Dear Jason, Thank you for your question. In essence, any action that causes another person harm or suffering whether physical or emotional generates negative karma. But karma is complicated and not as simple as we usually think about it. There are differences in level of severity of karma created, some can be very light and some can be heavy. These are due to the variables when creating karma, such as motivation, the actions, your feelings after it, etc. This can all be found in teachings that talk about karma, especially the Lamrim teachings. In Buddhism we teach that we need to avoid the creation of negative karma for sure. But simply by being stuck in samsara, there is actually no way out of creating karma. That is why Buddhists seek to be free from samsara altogether. Only when we are free from samsara, are we free from the creation of karma. In relation to your situation, if you are young and rely on your parents, for now you should try not to do things that are create division or disharmony within the family environment. That itself if the practice of the Dharma. Then later, when you are independent you can make more of an informed choice about what you want to do. Even in your current situation, you can practice the Dharma, it is not necessary to become a monk or nun to progress on your spiritual path. Dharma can be practiced in any environment, and actually practising towards our family is the best. When we transform our minds and our behvariours and they see just how beneficial this transformation is, this is the best way to show them that Dharma is good. This was a piece of advice that Tsem Rinpoche used to tell people in family situations all the time. I hope this helps you.

Rojal Poudel asked: How can I meet my guru? Does one need a guru for initiation for tantra and other stuff on the path to enlightenment? Does one need a guru to attain enlightenment?
pastor answered: Dear Rojal, Thank you for your question. In regards to meeting your guru, there are many different ways. These days you can meet your guru online as well. For example, many people did not meet Tsem Rinpoche personally, but they consider him to be there guru. You may find this article interesting: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/the-guru-protocol-a-guide-to-knowing-who-your-guru-is.html In regards to tantra, yes, one definitely needs a qualified guru to bestow initiation and teach us the path of practice once you have initiation. In regards to our tradition, it is also considered necessary to have a guru to attain full enlightenment. Hope this helps. The article lined above will definitely help to answer some of your questions on a deeper level. Thank you.

Rojal Poudel asked: How can you deepen your spiritual progress while sleeping? I heard some people can go to pure lands and get teachings directly from Buddha’s, Bodhisattva’s, and Dharma Protecters. Are these possible from Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection?
pastor answered: Dear Rojal, Thank you for your questions. It's always nice to see you here wanting to learn more. Yes it is definitely possible to deepen your practice in your sleep. This is done during practice of Highest Yoga Tantra, after receiving initiation and progressed along generation stage practice. This would obviously include everything before receiving such iniation such as having a basis and grounding in the Three Principle Aspects of the Path and the Lamrim teachings. In this practice you are able to use sleep to engage in meditation. This would need you to be able to lucid dream before hand. The ability to lucid dream itself can be developed a number of ways, but the most common is single-pointed mediation concentration during waking life. This is also known as Shamatha meditation. But in this case, the object of your meditation should be a mental one, rather than a physical one. The best would be a visualisation of the Buddha. All of this is outlined in the Lamrim teachings in the section on developing concentration. In terms of Astral Travel, yes it is definitely possible, and again there are different methods to go about this. Again this should be done only after having received the appropriate intiations and teachings from your guru. However, there are quite a few dangers involved with this. As Tsem Rinpoche mentioned before, the two main ones is that your consciousness is not able to return to your body and two that a spirit can take possession of your body if your protection is not strong and you have not invoked a Dharma protector to help with protection aspects. Another thing about astral travel, is that even if learn how to do it, it is not necessary that you can actually visit pure lands or receive teachings, etc. This is because, to do this, would require a lot of merit. So there are many things and practices to develop merit before you should engage in it. Often times, people who claim that they have received teachings or visited purelands, actually haven't though they may think that they did. It could simply be a projection of one's mind and in some serious cases perhaps even due to spirits mascarading. If you would like to learn lucid dreaming, please look into the teachings of single-pointed concentration normally. The ability of lucid dreaming comes naturally for those who progress in their shamatha meditation. As for astral travel practices, I would advise not to engage in such practices unless you receive the appropriate initiations, teachings from and under the strict supervision of a qualified guru. Hope this helps.

Rojal Poudel asked: I am about to leave everything behind. I am tired of this life where I do the same thing everyday. I see everything but dharma as an illusion. I want to attain some sort of realization so that I can benefit other sentient beings. I am very inspired by the story of Milarepa, who gave up everything to learn dharma. Even the Buddha gave up comfort and luxury in search for this supreme truth. I also want to follow the Please tell me what I should do.
pastor answered: Dear Rojal, We can understand that you feel this way, and seeing the illusion of life should definitely motivate us to want to achieve something more spiritual. In the past when people asked Tsem Rinpoche the same question, he used to tell people a couple of things: > The first is that there are two methods to deal with our spiritual path. The first is to physically renounce everything and go into the wilderness, like Buddha Shakyamuni and Milarepa did. To cut yourself from everyone and everything and meditate continuously for years until you achieve realisation. But this is very hard to do in our day and age. We still need to have contact with people, there are the necessities of life to think about. Rinpoche said we need to think about things from a practice angle also. It takes a very great level of practitioner with an immense store of merit to be able to do this successfully. > The second method is to keep living within our a community and use them as a support for the transformation of the mind and spiritual progress. For example, that it why we have monasteries and nunneries, or Dharma centres and organisations to help with spiritual practice. This method is more measured, but you can still gain the same results. This is the more practical method. Especially according to the Mahayana path of practice, Bodhisattvas need to practice certain qualities in our minds and we progress towards enlightenment. Such qualities include the Six Perfections, but if we are not around others, how do we practice them? In order to practice generosity, we need others to be generous towards. In order to practice patience, we need others to be patient towards. In order to practice morality and ethics, we need to be in situations to be able to practice our vows. Enlightened beings like Buddha and Milarepa were able to do all of this in their minds during meditation but as mentioned before they were already high level pracitioners with immense merit. For example, Buddha Shakyamuni had three countless aeons of consistent practice life time after life time until his achieved enlightenment. > Another thing that Rinpoche shared, that while understanding the drawbacks of life and the benefits of becoming enlightened, a lot of the time what happens these days is that it is mixed up with emotion due to the challenges of life. People are looking for an escape, but not an escape from samsara into enlightenment, but simple an escape from their current problems. The need for escape, known as renunciation in Buddhism, is not to simply escape samsara, but developed in a certain way through contemplation and meditation. When we have such feelings, we should analyse them to see if they are in accord with the teachings and the methods of developing true renunciation. Many people also have a unrealistic way of thinking about physical renunciation and the spiritual path in general. Most people think it is easy, but it is not, is difficult because we need to deal with our minds, our emotions, our traumas, etc, from countless lives. If we don't have a firm foundation in Dharma practice and transformation before we attempt something like Buddha Shakyamuni or Milarepa, we will give up after a while because we find it too hard. And perhaps give up spiritual practice because the path did not actually match our expectations. So the key is to be as realistic as possible about our spiritual path. So our advice, rather than give up everything, as you may have family or other responsibilities, is to use your current situation to transform your mind, to practice the teachings right now in life, so that you can start progressing along the spiritual life. The best way to do this is to practice the Lamrim teachings, which give you a firm roadmap of how and what to practice in a sequential manner. Giving up everything is not necessary to make real progress on the spiritual path, as outlined in the Lamrim, but sustained and consistent practice is the key. Then use the situations in your life to actualise that transformation. We hope this helps.

Jason asked: I listened to Tsem Rinpoche’s dharma talk and was inspired to be patient and kind towards other. For a while I felt like my mind had transformed and I started being more proactive in helping others and making sure to complete my responsibilities as perfectly as I can to not burden others and taking the initiative to help people that I see are struggling with their work but recently I have been feeling like I’m actually harming others instead of helping them by being kind because I feel like I’m enabling their bad behavior and rude attitude, especially one person in particular that I have to work with. No matter how much I help and show kindness, they don’t seem to change…and now I feel like a pushover for smiling and helping them even though they don’t show any appreciation or respect for it and instead take advantage of me and push even more of their responsibilities on me. I’ve been having thoughts that my kindness and patience has just become a cover for fear of confrontation now. What should I do? I feel like I’m gonna lose control and lash out even though I try to focus my mind on how the people around me must be struggling
pastor answered: Dear Jason, Thank you for your question. We are very happy to hear that Tsem Rinpoche's Dharma talks have inspired you, especially to practice patience and kindness towards others. Please do keep it up, the benefits of both qualities are immense and are central to spiritual transformation. We should always try our best to practice both patience and kindness, but sometimes practising it in the way we think may not be the best option. For example, in the case that you mentioned, it is not having the right effect on your own mind and also you are enabling your co-worker to exhibit negative behaviours as well. In this case, actually practising kindness would not be to become a pushover, taking more responsibilities, etc. This isn't beneficial for your or the co-worker. So here, practising kindness would actually be not to allow the person to do such things, but it should be practised with patience and not out of emotion. So you would do this in a very skilfful manner. The best would be to have a talk with your co-worker in a very calm manner and explain how you are feeling and how they are making you feel in the work environment, and try to sort out the situation before it progresses. Especially since you are having such thoughts of anger and the posibility of lashing out. Practicing kindness and patience is not at all become a push over or allowing others to skip out on their responsibilities, etc. We really hope this helps. Thank you.

Sok asked: Hello respected pastors. Is Kusha grass same as Durva grass? How to obtain kusha grass?
pastor answered: Dear Sok, Kusha grass and Durva grass are two different types of grass, they are not the same. Kusha grass is also known as halfa grass, big cordgrass, or salt reed-grass. Its scientific name is Desmostachya Bipinnata. In shape, each blade of grass is long and straight. Durva grass is also known as bermuda grass. Its scientific name is Cynodon Dactylon. In shape, each blade looks segmented and has smaller leaves sprouting from it. You can google the scientific name to see the difference between the two. Generally, they can be bought at Indian religious stores if there are any nearby where you live. Alternatively, if you live in Asia, you can buy a traditional grass broom, which you can substitue for the Kusha grass. It is a close relative of Kusha grass and the lamas have said that it can be used as substitue if you cannot find the actual grass. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Bhavisha asked: How to know wheather specific LOCAL deity is enlighten or not?
pastor answered: Dear Bhavisha, Local deities are not enlightened. They are sentient beings who look after or take care of a specific area. There are different names for these types of beings, such as local deities, Land God, Landowner deities, etc. They belong to the God Realm, but as other beings in the god realm, they are not enlightened. Hope this helps.

Rojal Poudel asked: What comes after attaining samatha or calm abiding meditation?
pastor answered: Dear Rojal, Nice to see you back here! Shamatha is a tool, basically through this meditation you develop single pointed concentration. But after developing that, you use it to engage in Vipashyana meditation, otherwise known as Special Insight. Different traditions have different version of Special Insight. In our tradition, we use this type of meditation to analyse what we call "emptiness." The teachings on the emptiness are the actual teaching that leads to enlightenment. All other teachings or practices help to prepare your mind to be able to do this. Shamatha comes in, because the topic of emptiness is so deep, that we need single-pointed concentration to analyse it. If we don't have this type of concentration, we will not be able to understand emptiness. Hence, shamatha and vipashyana meditation are used in tandem to achieve enlightenment. This may seem a little abstract. The Lamrim teachings go into this in a lot of detail. They can be found in the chapters dealing with the Concentration and Wisdom as part of the Six Perfections in the Great Scope sections of the Lamrim. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Jonathan Tan asked: Hi Dear Pastor, I am curious if H.E 25th Tsem Rinpoche had any heart disciples (son/daughter) Is there a difference between heart and root disciples?
pastor answered: Dear Jonathan, Thank you for your question. There is no one heart disciple of Tsem Rinpoche. This usually refers to specific person who carries on the teachings and practices of a particular teacher. Tsem Rinpoche wanted something different for Kechara, hence we carry on his teachings and practices as a group, rather than one specific person. Rinpoche trained his students, who are either Sangha, Pastors or senior students in various ways of continuing his teachings, especially through the work that they do. In this way, we continue Rinpoche's teachings as a group rather than any one heart disciple. Hope that this helps. Thank you.

Sirius asked: Hi dear pastors, I'd like to get recomendations on how to improve my actual sadhana. My morning starts by taking refuge and making offerings to the three jewls, followed by Lama Tsongkhapa's Guru Yoga. After this I usually study Lam Rim, and other Dharma Texts. During the afternoon I meditate for a about an hour or so, and somedays I do the Dorje Shugden sadhana given by Rinpoche. Finally at night I finish my day by doing Vajrasattva meditation and confession to the 35 Buddhas. What else can I do to improve my sadhana? What practices would you recomend me to do? Do you have recomendations on texts I could read? I would like to add that I live in Argentina, and I do not have any buddhist temple near sadly, so I cannot go there to practice, learm or collab. I would appreciate advice on this. Thank you in advance.
pastor answered: Dear Sirius, Thank you for your question. In terms of practice, you are doing a lot. We are very happy to read that you are doing all these beneficial practices. They will be very beneficial for you. What you are doing is very good already, the only thing that I would say is to make the Dorje Shugden sadhana consistent as well as the others. If you are doing the short Diamond Path sadhana, it includes the Vajrasatta meditations, so you don't have to do it separately. We just have some points to help you improve your practice: > First is whenever you do any of the practices, is it vital to make sure you take refuge, generate bodhicitta and practice the four immeasurables before each session. And then at the end of the session, make sure to dedicate. This seals the merit generated from your practice. This is very important as if we don't have the correct motivation at the beginning and dedicate it at the end, since the merit is not sealed, the positive potential is destroyed when we have disturbing emotions, especially anger. > The second is to be consistent in your practices and do them daily. If you cannot be consistent with the practices you are doing at the moment, then reduce what you are doing to make it simple, for example just the Diamond Path (which includes Tsongkhapa's Guru Yoga anyway). Then once you are consistent daily, later you can slow add in other practices and become consistent with them. > The third is to keep revising the teachings on these practices, understand the motivation, deepen your visualisations, etc. > In regards to your meditation, if you are doing breathing or concentration meditation, again, revise the teachings again and again to make your practice stronger and understand where you are on your meditational path. > You can also spend some time every day, maybe five or ten minutes contemplating the Lamrim teachings step by step. This itself is extremely transformational and will propel you along the spiritual path. In regards to what else to study or read, here is a very good article: https://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/books-that-are-a-must-read.html If you consider Tsem Rinpoche to be your spiritual teacher, there are thousands of hours of teachings on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoTg0Wc5q3Gnz8ej3ETCdMQ You can watch and re-watch them to deepen your understanding and practice. I hope all of this helps.

In this pic, Pastor Seng Piow is sharing Dharma with newbies ~ Sharyn's friends. It's always good to make light offerings at the beginning of new year. By making light offerings, you are able to dispel the darkness of ignorance and achieve wisdom. Kechara Penang Study Group by Jacinta.

One the day of Losar (new lunar year), it is always beneficial for Buddhist practitioners to get together in making abundant offerings to Buddhas on the altar to usher in goodness, prosperity and well-being of our loved ones. It's more auspicious this year as Losar and the Chinese New Year begin on the same date, 10th Feb, 2024. Back in Penang, our Kechara members came together to decorate the altar with abundance offerings for Dorje Shugden puja @3pm. Kechara Penang Study Group by Jacinta.

Umze for the day was Siew Hong. She's just been with us for slightly more than a year now but she's proven her capability in leading the puja. Our Penang group members are so proud of her and her commitment in attending the weekly puja. Despite being eloquence and smart, she has beautiful chant as well. When she leads, make sure you are there to hear her chant for yourself! Kechara Penang Study Group by Jacinta.

Dharma sharing by Hue before we proceeded with DS puja & Rinpoche Swift Return puja. Hue is one of the long time Kechara Penang members and he comes to puja regularly. He shared that he truly believes that Dorje Shugden and Rinpoche always there guiding him. He shared how sometimes DS will give him hints to avert troubles ahead or to alert him when he 'misbehaved'. Hope many will come to know more about this powerful Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden aka DS. Having Dorje Shugden is like having a powerful ally that will protect us day and night. Just trust Him and have faith. Kechara Penang Study Group, 25/11/2023 by Jacinta.
